Welcome to iPhoneRumors.com

I miss the olden days when we didn't have to wade through 2 pages of iPhone crap to get to the Mac stuff.

Someone should start a new MacRumors type website because this one has lost its focus.

One of the largest releases of a mac product came out less then a week ago. Do you really think there are computer rumors?

No computer rumors today, come back 2-3 weeks from now.

No luck here. I think the worst part about not finding one is the inability of apple store employees to give proper advice.

I live in NJ. I called the Apple store on 5th Ave in NYC and they said they stop selling the iPhone at midnight and they cut the line off so that the last person should get theirs around then. The girl told me to get there before 9. So I drove up to the city, got there at 8 and the employee outside said they cut the line off at 3pm. Waste of a trip.

So I called my local Apple store and they said they get shipments in everyday but can't gaurantee larege amounts. So they open at 10, I get there at 9 and am 5th in line. Two hours later they say a shipment came but there were no phones.

I have no problem waiting in a line, but I can't even get that far! I work weekdays so my time window is limited.

I just got off the phone to O2 UK. They said they shipped another 8,000 handsets to their stores today. I phoned my local stores in West London and they said they should get some in Thursday or Friday.

Hope this helps anyone.

Let the scrum commence.

Good. Why don't YOU do that (instead of sitting around with a sense of entitlement that someone else should make *their* website suit you)?

Please do it quickly, so you can take all the rest of the whiners with you.

Like I said earlier, the iPhone IS Apple, for the foreseeable future.

Would be nice...

If Apple allowed you to order your phone online for pick-up at your local Apple Store... Seems that calling, standing in line, etc... is a bit much for a lot of people. (Especially if you have a job, kids, other commitments...)

Also, I think any news about the availability of the iPhone is news - the question now is can demand adjust to supply - it ain't easy providing distribution for the world - remember 70+ countries are coming online. Throw in the wild card China and folks in the US may have quite a wait for the 3G. (If you don't think Apple would divert the majority of phones available to the largest mobile market in the world you're living in a dream world).

In the meantime, I hope all of you enjoy your new iPhones - I'm just sitting back waiting for the best entry point for my budget - given the burgeoning smartphone wars - somebody is going to blink and start whittling away on their data plans. For example, paying for SMS is ridiculous - if I'm correct it requires less bandwidth than a phone call or an email - not to mention unlimited web browsing.

Wow it sold out that fast in Dayton. I am glad I drove 1 hour to Columbus then on iPhone launch day to the Apple Store at the Easton Towne Mall. They had plenty on launch day but quickly ran out Saturday afternoon after my friend drove up there to try and get himself one. I had to wait 6 hours in line on Friday but it was well worth it.

Dayton, OH is sold out--has been since about 8:30 on launch day.

I went to the AT&T store today to order a 16GB via "Direct Fulfillment." Apple is apparently shipping an iPhone to that store specifically for me.

Does anyone know how long the "direct fulfillment" actually takes? They told me it could be up to 20 days, but when I was in on Sunday they said 7 days...

Anyone in the know?

On Monday, I waited in line at the Chicago Michigan Ave. store for 4 hours. All of the Apple employees said it would be a 2 hour wait, they were grossly wrong.
After being totally exhausted from standing, I finally got the phone in my hands. I even went home and activated it.
Its great and all, but 2 things....I have 0 (ZERO) bars in 3G mode. And the battery is dead over night.
So it looks like I have to go to Apple again and get a new one.

I was told by an AT&T rep. yesterday that all stores are sold out in the state of Mississippi. We do not have an Apple store in the state. They also stated that there is no ETA on a delivery for more to the store (they have not received any since Saturday). Lines still form before opening, but yesterday they finally put a sheet in the window stating that they are out of iPhones. Direct fulfillment option has a delivery time of 10-21 days.

Kansas City Area

The Kansas City area which includes two Apple stores and various AT&T stores are all sold out. I've called a few times the last few days.

10-21 Days :0!

I picked up an 8GB at the Store in Norfolk, Va on my 3rd visit after ATTpple finally cleared my account status. They were instructed to tell customers over the phone there were no iPHones in stock, but when you showed up they had them. I think the mall was over managing the ridiculous lines through the main shopping areas. A friend went to the store 2 hours later and all the iPhones were gone. I watched the line grow from 10 people to over 40 in the less than 30 minutes I was there finally getting my phone. I sold my iPhone 1 for 375$ 2 hours later in front of the T-Mobile store :)

Stock on these iPHones is going to continue to be an issue for a few weeks it looks like. 16GB were no where to be found.

riiiight...

I went to the Bellevue, Washington store this evening to buy a phone and was told they were totally sold out and didn't expect white 16GB for 2 to 4 WEEKS. WEEKS!!!! I can't imagine how much money they will be loosing. Hard to believe. I think I'll check back in periodically just in case.

No money is being lost, as Apple knows you're going to wait and buy one anyways. How many people do you think will actually NOT buy an iPhone simply because it's hard to get? Very, very few.

I also live in the DC area like some others and couldn't take off work or attempt to get one on July 11th.

On the 12th, I woke up, started calling around to some stores, Montgomery Mall had a few white 16GB ones but I want a black..but while on the phone with AT&T stores they said I could come in and direct order one. That was around 10:30am Saturday, this morning the order finally changed the back-ordered column from 1 to 0, so I hope it gets shipped out today.

Sounds like a great project for you! :)

blank stares and a lot of sucking of air through teeth.
At least you got the sucking teeth.

Mine were just blank stares. Deer in the headlights type. Funny. :)

I guess I will have to continue waiting - really pissed that i had an off-site training day last Friday followed by golf on Saturday. I guess free food, alcohol and sports isn't a bad thing, i just want to get me an iPhone 3G
Well, you did get to play golf. :D

For me, I can easily wait as I am still in the deciding mode. Although, if they would have had a 16GB model, I probably would have bit the other night.

In my previous post, <big snip>
In case you don't know, arn is the main man here at MacRumors.

It's his site.

what's more interesting than this story (wow, people in line - so.what) is how much some are willing to pay on ebay. for a phone.
The prices on eBay are unbelievable!

Saw one for $1,200 recently. Looks like a few for around $900.

Wow, somebody is making a nice profit! :)

Now I wish I'd bought the 16 GB phone they had in stock on Monday. I didn't even think to ask if they had 16s left, I just left when they said they didn't have any 8s. I didn't want to get one the day they came out, but I really need a new phone (mine no longer has a display and barely holds a charge) and was hoping to have one before I went on vacation. At least I'm going to San Jose, and when I checked last night 2 of the stores in the area have all the phones in stock. I'm hoping they'll have some tomorrow, too, since by the time my plane lands the stores will be closed. If I can't I'm going to have to settle for another smartphone, which means a 2G phone since any other 3G phone I can afford right now most likely has Windows Mobile

And I appreciate having this news on the front page. It's good to know that it's not just my oft forgotten city of Pittsburgh that's low on them.

How often if at all are they receiving shipments? With in the next few days all locations will be out.

I'm starting to see +weeks ETA's.

Not sure if this is accurate yet. It may just be one model also.

we'll Just have to wait and see.

I don't even want to know what the lines are like at the other stores.

hey we still got plenty of iPhones over here in Belgium

they only cost 953$!

Is that whit a contract, or is that just for the phone whitout it being locked, and no contract?

If it's whitout contract, then it's cheaper then here in Denmark. (1.300$ for the 16GB and 1.172$ for the 8GB)

No phones in Durham, NC

Based on what local Apple store said it sounds like original stock ran out on Sunday and they received no new phones Monday or Tuesday. And still no phones today. This hasn't kept people from standing in line hoping that a shipment will arrive. Insult to injury the website reported yesterday that they had phone when in fact they did not. Store employees claimed it was a glitch.

Local AT&T store is reporting 7-10 days before they get more phones, but at least they are letting people pre-order now.

It would be nice if Apple HQ would put out some kind of statement about the status of the supply chain. There are a lot of people wasting a lot of time hoping to get an iphone.
