...what? If you mean its on the last used program just hit the home screen button before you lock it.

no ..its not on the the last used program..it comes out with some crazy shizit..like stop watch been running for 20 minutes or on ebay or maps...must be doin something very obvious and wrong.. plz help me !!!!!!

does that disable me from seeeing what calls i've missed?or e-mails..or im's?

It will disable the touch screen, meaning it won't respond to any touches and also blanks the screen. The phone will still accept incoming calls, text messages and emails. Pushing the sleep/wake button again reactivates the screen.

definitely yellow tint on mine too

I posted earlier about some exchange issues here (bottom page 6 https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/517899/ )but now I sat down and compared the new to the old iPhone.

1. Obvious yellow tint, The black background looks yellowish and when I go into menu screens like "settings", The white background is way more whiter on gen1 then the 3g phone, the 3g phones setting screen looks yellowish

2. I fully charged the battery, usage time at "0", when I woke up this morning the battery was 25% less and showed 5 hrs usage even though it was locked all night and at the home screen before I locked it

3. the 1st gen screen seems easier to see in sunlight, the new one seems to show smudges much more so in the sun, the screen looks less clear

The crappy part is, now you are stuck with the phone, Because of the subsidized stuff, the Apple guy said they cannot be returned, is this true or wa the guy clueless?? I'll probably keep it but it just seems like the 1st gen phone has an overall better screen and better battery

Internet is slow while listening ipod

First i started playing ipod music in my iphone and then i selected safari browser and started browsing. I felt internet is dead slow..Is anyone facing same issue ?

MobileMe push

I already had my .Mac account set up on my iPhone 3G because I restored it using the backup of my old iPhone. However, I decided I would just delete that and set up the MobileMe account.

Now, all of my contacts, bookmarks, and calendars have disappeared from my phone :(

Any idea why?

I think I'll disable the pushing for now so that I can have my contacts at least.

EDIT: seems like MobileMe is at sixes and sevens right now. Perhaps that's the issue.

Faulty iPhone!

With o2 getting out of contingency today, I've now only just been connected only to find my iPhone is faulty!

I can not hear phone calls unless it's on speaker or headphones are plugged in.
People also have been saying that my voice drifts in and out.

o2 of course want to do a direct swap when more are in stock, anyone else had similar problems?

That's one of the benefits of push though, instead of checking every xminutes to see if there is an email, it will automatically pull the email off the server whenever an email arrives on the server.

i think the OPs point was if you aren't getting a lot of emails on the phone anyway, why bother with push.

on my phone I use my mac.com email which is only used by my job and perhaps 3 of my closest friends. plus my parents for major emergencies. so I get perhaps 5 emails during the day. it's not a hassle for me to manually check my email on breaks.

if I was getting 10 times that every day I might find push really useful.

This is deliberate.

The company's Senior Director of Product Marketing, Bob Borchers, tells Engadget that the shift from the blue-biased LCD of the original iPhone isn't an accident and produces more accurate colors most of the time, registers deeper blacks, and makes the resulting image appear crisper.

Let's see if I understand this correctly....

... the 1G iPhone is 2.5G (there is no 2G)...

...and, heh, heh, heh, the 3G is the 2G iPhone

...and both the 1G/2.5G and the 3G/2G are at 2.0...

and I'm my own grandpa!

I'm not complaining about disk space, I could care less about their methods of importing it. But it seems really dumb to have two apps that do basically the same thing.

that's not what I said.

I said are you certain that it is two different program and not just two access points. like an alias.

Case

Ok, so who's the idiot -- or rather how many idiots are there out there -- who waited in line 2+ hours for a phone and walked out without also buying a case...only to drop it on the concrete on the way to the car?? LMAO...now your phone is gonna be all scratched and banged up while everybody else's is still shiny and new. Hahahahaha

When I got my first iPhone, I just got a case to slide it into on my belt. After 11 months, it was beat up. I would drop the actual phone, without a protector on it, and it had bangs, bruises, dents and scratches all over it.

In June, my phone got the mysterious touch malfunction, which prevented me from being able to turn on the phone. I went to the Apple Store and they swapped on the spot for a new phone. Before I left the store that day, I bought a case to snap on the phone that protected it. In 1 month I NEVER dropped the phone... Go figure.

Now, I bought the 3G phone, and a snap on clear case the same time. I have my 1 month old phone going on ebay currently at $335... I would never have gotten a thing out of my old phone. Cases are necessities with these phones. I don't care about looks anymore, I just want it to be nice when I get ready to sell and move on to the next one.

And I totally get that and I understand that most likely they are both just pointing to the same thing (the same way on an iPod touch how it has a videos button and a music button, but they both basically take you to the iPod function from the iPhone). What I'm saying is having an icon for the address book and a Phone app is completely pointless and wastes screen real estate and creates a semi-confusing redundant behavior. Can you get rid of the address book app the same way you can get rid of other downloaded applications or will you just have to throw it onto another page?

3G Data Usage

Anyone's data/talk usage this high already? Haven't downloaded any apps over 3G, Just visited maybe 20 websites at the most and MobileMe Push syncing. Was this just info that was backed up from my old iphone??
