Strange now that i think of it. I always wanted my ipods to be white only cause it was more applish and black was weird when they introduced it with the ipod video. Now i wanted the black one until i saw the photo and noticed all the smudges. maybe i should go white and keep the apple colours.

I hate every single one of you who are getting one friday!!!!! HATE YOU!!!!!!! I have to wait until November 13 when my family's stupid Verizon plan ends. And no I can't go and get one myself because there is no way in hell that AT&T is going to trust that a 14 year old can afford a $70 a month plan. I WANT ONE!!! NO I NEED ONE TO LIVE!!!!!

end rant

Maybe a 32 GB will be out by then. The silver lining, the silver lining. Happy place...

Anyone remember when the unboxing experience was actually worth taking pics of? The nifty boxes (such as the split cube), the wide range of accessories and bits and bobs they'd squeeze in so you felt like you'd got your (substantial) money's worth etc. It was quite exciting.

Fun times :)

Yep, I remember, back before this pesky "Green" movement...

Here's the white iPhone I want:

Make the background menu (in the screen) black and I'm getting one!

That would certainly be distracting. Imagine watching a concert vid or movie with that white around it. Not good (IMO). There's a reason why true home theatres & movie houses are dark.

Oh yes of course, because a more exciting box design and extra accessories that you would now have to buy in separate boxes were so damaging to the environment

Funny how they still wrap every individual item in plastic too.

First of all, im glad the first unboxing pic of an iPhone 3G came from Portugal! :)

That doesn't look like the slimmed down charger they were going to be supplying with the phone. Anyone else think the same? Glad they kept the nice looking box.

EDIT: Check the link here for a pic of the new charger http://www.apple.com/iphone/specs.html

I'm guessing they didn't design one with a plug for European outlets. Guess they are out of luck on that front.

second of all, i can´t quite understand what you mean with your post because the plug you see in the first post, is exactly the standard European plug(which we use in Portugal), so why do you say we dont have the plugs?

Once I buy a case to keep the smudges off the phone and a cradle from Apple, I'll be close to the $400 mark.

Hope the phone with the case installed, fits in the cradle.

But single me out you did...

Not to single this one post out, but I get tired of hearing the same crap.

1. The 3G is not really any cheaper to produce - the cost we pay now is being subsidized by at&t. Do you really think they saved $200 per phone by switching to plastic vs. aluminum? Come on now.

2. The plastic back was done to improve reception, and as much as I love my iPhone, the reception was flaky compared to friend's Blackberries here in CT. Sometimes you gotta give to get and if it means my reception is more "consistent" you go ahead and put me down for a 16GB white PLASTIC model gladly! :)

The plastic IS cheaper to produce, offsetting the more expensive 3G and GPS chip, hence it balances out. My iPhone has gotten great reception (and I live in Colorado where we have big mountains that screw up that sort of thing). No offense, but if you don't wanna hear the same crap, get off of a rumors site because that's what all of this is. We all repeat the same things, the rumors are the same ones as a few months ago with slightly different details, you should just get used to it. IMHO the plastic is a (neccessary) step back, but if that gets YOU better reception, well then go right ahead.

so what is the final word? is the 3G actually a little thinner than the original iphone? or just more contoured?
