iPhone 3G Yellow Screen Issue

😕 So, you're saying 3g cost more to make than the 1st gen iPhone? Source please. Every post on MR's that I've read on that subject is that the 1st gen cost apple twice as much to build as the new, faster, half the price, yellowier screen iPhone.

Anyway, my iPhone screen is brilliantly bright and no yellow p!ss tint on it at all.

Maybe it's not a cheaper screen and the yellow tint is a result of improving battery life???

Maybe as mentioned earlier some guys have a slight tint, but for those of us who have e very obvious yellow screen it is totally unacceptable!! 😡

Keep in mind that iPhone V1 also had yellow screen problems. In fact, I bought two iPhones and mine had a cool screen, while the other was warmish yellow. Luckily, the owner is not as picky as I am! 😉

I'm sorry to hear some are suffering from the same problem. I would definitely exchange it for another one wherever possible. I don't think Apple will be able to universally finetune displays with a "color patch" because that would screw up all the good ones. 😱

Sure, send me a decent camera and I'll take better photos. Like I said, I was using the iSight and PhotoBooth, aiming it manually with limited range of the cable length and bearing in mind that PhotoBooth is mirrored which makes it difficult to aim.

The 3G iPhone costs like $175 to make (posted on this site). I can't remember the price of the first iPhone it costs to make, but i know its under $200.

I don't see why people are saying the screen is bad. It actually shows the correct color of images.

You're a God at MR. I was just wondering and I know there was a thread about it somewhere on here, but does the 3g use the same screen as the 1st gen iPhone?? I don't know, I'm an idiot and I'm sure this is probably common knowledge, but I didn't know if the touch/iPhone/3g all used the same screen. Thanks in advance.

Theres an app that needs to be programmed, something that allows for color calibration and contrast adjustment of the screen I'd pay 10 bucks for that.

Apple did such a good job choosing components for the new 3G iPhone that it costs less to make than the old version, despite significant improvements, iSuppli said. The old iPhone cost $226 to make and did not include 3G mobile wireless capabilities nor GPS (global positioning system). Yet Apple sold the original 4GB iPhone for $499 initially.

The most expensive component on the iPhone 3G is the 8GB of NAND flash memory storage, at $22.80, followed by the touchscreen at $20, iSuppli estimates.

In all, the chips and other components in the handset add up to $164, and then iSuppli estimates Apple is paying another $9 for assembly of the device, for a total of $173.

Earlier someone posted something about if apple came out with an update for the yellow effect that it would ruin all iphones that didnt have that effect(sorry i couldnt find it to quote) but to asnwer that , they could just put up a notice that sais "for all yellow problem iphone 3g holders, please install this" and everything would be fine.😎

From these examples, i think the 3G looks best.
 
I've just checked because of this thread and my 3G iPhone definitely has a yellow hue in comparison. I'm trying to work out if I mind or not. It still looks good to me.

This has got to be the Worst launch of a product for Apple I waited in line 8 hours ( my fault ) waited to activate at the at&t store for 30min (their fault) still cant activate.. and now yellow tint

come on apple what is up
 
From what I've gathered in using it for the last few hours, it seems much worse in my room (which is relatively dark), when I ventured outside into the light it looked great - whites where white.

Dunno if this means if it's a software or hardware issue though.

The field test mode doesn't show alot of options on the 3G... just a min and I'll have a picture up.

My screen is also yellowish but I need to compare some more with my iPod Touch, computer monitor, LCD-TV and so on... I don't really like what I see but hopefully a firmware upgrade allows us to adjust the colors.

considering that the brightness is adjustable the right one is clearly teh better choice, look at all teh detail behind and under the frogs mouth that you're missin in teh 3g, I'M DEF NOT GETTING IT NOW. not until this is sorted out. it looks washed out and horrible.😱
