iPhone 3GS AT&T store preorder?

one of the at&t workers said "NO" to me urgh!
i already ordered it online already. that b***h T_T
never again im going to my nearest at&t store ever again, unless i have to pay my bill that is. . T_T.
 
I went to the att website to preorder but there wasnt $10 OFF their plans,it was the original prices...ddnt they say that they r gonna drop their plans by $10 or that was a rumor???
 
Do you think I'll be able to preorder 2 iPhones? (preferably 1-3g 8gb and 1-3gs 32gb). Or will there have to be 2 of us there to preorder 2 phones? Or will I only be able to preorder the 3gs and then have to buy the regular 3g on 6/19 when I go to pick it up?
 
Last night I reserved an iPhone 3GS at my local Apple store. I am currently an ATT customer, but I do NOT have an iPhone 3G, nor am I under any type of contract. I am currently doing month to month on a random phone.

When I made my reservation online, it only gave me the option to reserve the 32GB at $499.

Now, seeing that I do not have a 3G, nor am I under a contract of any type...I should be eligible for the $299 subsidized price as long as I sign a 2 year contract, correct?

Will I be able to explain this to Apple when I go to pick up my reserved iPhone? How would I sign that 2 year contract AT the apple store?

I would go to an AT&T Corp store. They should be able to sort it out, but you would have to cancel your Apple order...

There should be enough 8GB 3G inventory so you wouldn't have to preorder the 8GB. There isn't any Direct Fulfillment for the 8GB

Thanks for your response. If I wanted to preorder (2) 3GS iPhones, could I do that by myself or would I need someone else there with me?

- A customer service chat option popped up during the ordering process. The customer service rep confirmed my new number will be transferred after I receive my phone. I will have to go through a setup process and only then does my account get canceled with my current carrier.

I hope that helps. I know I saw a few posts wondering when you would get canceled with your current carrier.

thanx so much thats what i was wondering. I too am a new customer and ordered online and put in my verizon number to port over. I was worried it would cancel my verizon account now and i would be without a phone til the new one arrived.

so thats great it shouldnt cancel til i activate the new one! thanx!
 
So, when you pre-order with AT&T is it guaranteed that it will be there on the 19th, or is there nothing guaranteed (like the Apple pre-order)?

You can only get one per person, I wanted to get one for my wife and I last night but she wasn't with me. I had to get someone in the store to be my "warm body" that was the second person.
 
Nothing is guaranteed but I just ordered a 16gig Black using my wife's number for the $199 price. I just hope we can swap SIMs with no problem so she can use my 3G and I can use the 3GS! LOL Her iPhone (my original iPhone 1rst gen) is so beat up and the screen works but has damage so she needs a new phone regardless. My account says I am eligible for upgrade on July 11 so we shall see if sim swap doesn't work. LOL

I was planning on doing the same. I need the latest toys:my wife to get my white 3G(g=grandpa) & I'll take the new version.

Do you think it's as easy as a sim swap? :cool:
 
Why not pre-order from the online Apple Store? I just did it and it will be shipped to my house on June 19th - I don't have to do anything or go anywhere. Awesome.

I'm wondering the same, my wife's number for some odd reason is eligible even though she's only been with AT&T since Dec 08 when I got her an iPhone 3g and adding her to my account creating a fmaily talk plan. I got my iPhone 3g at launch July 08 and says i'm not eligible till 3/2010.

Anyways I'm wondering if the swapping of sim cards will work for me to get the 3gS since she doesnt even care to get a new phone. Or if they can just swap the upgrade to my number since she doesnt want to upgrade? For that route i'm wondering what difference does it make to them, it's either they get an upgrade and lock in another 2yrs with my number or they dont get either.

Ok, I just talked to an AT&T rep and they said I can do this on my own. Just swap the sim card before I activate it. He also noted that her contract would go into a new 2 yr agreement (which I don't care about, unless Verizon ever gets it together).

He said the pre-order phones start to ship on the 19th; not at your house on the 19th.

Is that all that's needed? A warm body? Or if her name is going to be on the account, does she need to physically be there?

Just got back from the AT&T and reserved mine.

The same guy who laughed at me said sorry and processed my order.

He told me I was guaranteed to have it next Friday, as mine will ship to the store before the stock shipment.

However, AT&T has been wrong before. Here's to hoping it is there next Friday!!
 
Pre-ordered mine from the local AT&T store as well. They said I would have mine on release date so we'll see.

The DF/pre-order/3GS limit is one per person per phone line.

It is not guaranteed that it will be there on the 19th but you will have a tracking number that tells you your phone shipped. AT&T Direct Fulfillment is very good. I expect all iPhone 3GS' will be shipped and arrive at your AT&T on the 19th if you pre-order by the 17th.

Sim swaps will work but you MUST have the rep do the upgrade/activation swap for you. The iPhone 3GS (or 3G for that matter) must have the data package on that line that you will be using the phone on or you will incur data charges.

3gs on Premier later today

That's the info that I was given by a phone rep that 3gs on Premier later today. I want to transfer my number from Sprint *and* get Premier pricing. I couldn't get her to tell me if I could do it to an iphone that I bought at Apple, but if they are available for preorder (no discount) through the Premier website I will just wait and do it that way. Is it still true that my 15% state-employee discount will apply to voice minutes and text, but not to my iPhone data plan? Even still, that's like $7 a month or $170 over 2 years...

Also, whatever happened to the rumor of the discounted data plans? Even with the above mentioned discounted plan, it'll still be like $340 more than my Blackberry over two years (not counting the cost of the phone, of course). Sure could use a few bucks off... text messages included with data would be a start!

I would talk to an AT&T store rep and they can go over the FAN agreement with you for your discount. Most FANs do not include discounts on features, only on the ARPU (base rate plan). As always I recommend going through a COR store because the rep can see everything that your talking about.
 
I forgot to mention that the guy who processed my preorder told me that they might get the preordered phones in on the 18th, and that I "may" be able to pick them up that night. He gave me his card and told me to check with him that afternoon to see if they can do that.

We'll see, I doubt it, but I thought it was worth mentioning.
