I just got the 9700 today. This little screen and keyboard is annoying me! I am probably going back to Wal-Mart TONIGHT to get my $500 and keeping my 3GS. I don't think I can deal with this phone for 4 months until the new iPhone comes out. The screen is beautiful but just too small. And I can't type for (s) on this keyboard. Lol. I love that blinking light though. iPhone DEF. needs it.

hahah that was quick. can't lie, that notification is kick ass right? :p
im using the 3gs until my charging pod comes for my 9700. Lets see if the 3gs can win my heart in these next 5 days!

but yeah, the screen size makes doing anything media related kinda hard. I find even browsing through the pictures i took a bit cumbersome. im not sure its because the OS or the screen size though.

I have the BB Bold 9700 & my wife has the iphone. List below are a list of proplems that the iphone has that is standard in the BB Bold 9700. Unless these issues have been fixed and doesnt have to be corrected thru a 3rd party app then the BB Bold 9700 wins this battle hands down. And the biggest of the proplems that the iphone has that is listed below is bluetooth problem.

Multimedia messaging - Almost every other cell phone in the market has the ability to send images to other cell phones via multimedia messaging, or MMS. Yes you can still e-mail those photos, but MMS is such a basic feature that it should've been in the iPhone from the start.

Copy and paste - Again, this is such a basic feature. Having copy and paste makes it easier to type out text messages and e-mails.

Video recording - In the world of mobile video, Qik, and YouTube, it's a shame the iPhone doesn't have video-recording capabilities. Yes the quality wouldn't be that great, but it should be an option anyway.

Why are you complaining about features the iPhone already has NOW?

This is like saying this new car sucks because it didn't have feature x.

What nonsense.

the iphone does has bluetooth problems. Unless the 3gs has fixed these bluetooth problems u cant connect to other phones via bluetooth or send emails, pics, music, files etc..... if yall have a iphone other than the 3gs if you can send emails, pics, music, files etc.... please tell me how so i can do it on my wifes iphone. and besides apple had to make a new phone to fix all the other problems. but its cool i have both i just prefer the BB Bold 9700. If you want entertainment the iphone is the way to go. if u are more business minded then BB is the way to go to. But atleast on my BB Bold 9700 i can text, send emails, take and send pics all will im on the phone. And i can listen to pandora radio while on the phone or running other apps and u cant do those things ive mentioned about unless the iphone 3gs has fixed that too. the iphone has more apps(yes), better internet(yes), smooth touch screen (yes) but both phones are superior in their own way.

Why don't you tell us what model iphone you have and then we can tell you what it can and can not do. I think you are refering to features that were not originally there but have been with the 3.0 update last June.

i only paid 100 for my bold 9700 i cant believe u 500 thats crazy

Lol. I wasn't eligible for an upgrade so I had to buy the phone unlocked. I will make my money back by selling my 3GS on ebay if I decide to keep the 9700. I am liking it more now after playing with it.

i dont knock the iphone just not my preference to use it but i have talked wit tmobile customer service and at&t customer service and both have told me that the iphone 3gs only has the blue tooth profile for head sets and head phones and that it cant send data via blue tooth or connect to other phones via blue tooth. If anyone dispute this fact please provide a like from a reputable source so i can see for myself.

Well, after tweeting my 9700, I am addicted. I can definitely keep this phone for three/four months until the new one comes out. I just bought a Touch, so when the new iPhone comes out, I'll sell my unlocked 9700 and Touch. That should be more than enough to cover the $400 I will spend for early upgrade for the new iPhone.

If you like to lose brain cells faster, go with the BlackBerry Bold 9700. :D

http://www.phoneplusmag.com/hotnews/blackberry-bold-emits-highest-radiation-level.html

9700 = 1.55 Wpkg vs iPhone 3GS = 1.19Wpkg being "comparatively low"?! yeah right! its very close and BOTH are below the 2.00Wpkg ceiling that CRTC/FCC allows. You have a better chance getting adverse affects watching a cathode ray TV for 5yrs than using either cellphone daily for 4hrs continuous talk time for the same 5yr time period.

Its gunna be more than $400... Right now a new iPhone early upgrade. Is $700 for the 16gb IRC?
$700? I always paid $399 for my early upgrades for the new iPhones. That's what I paid for the 2nd and 3rd generations iPhones when they came out in June and July.

The 9700 is a great phone, but it serves a different purpose than the iPhone. It's a better phone, email device and texting machine. It doesn't have the apps the iPhone has either. I have trouble checking my sports scores and such on there. But signal, call quality, notifications are all better than the iPhone. If you just want a good phone, then the 9700 is excellent. If you want a media device that makes phone calls, you simply cannot beat the iPhone.

Apple is to restrictive

I bought the I Phone 3GS 16GB phone. I was trying to decide between the I Phone and the Bold 9700. The I Phone is good if you do not mind the total control that Apple puts on the phone. You can only put on ringtones that you buy from them. There are a lot of things that you can only do through I Tunes. Also your contacts are not saved to the sims card so if you do not keep an I Phone you will have to reenter all your contacts on another phone. I have had most of the apps not work correctly. Then what do you do as it cost money to buy the apps. The battery life is horrible. I am lucky to get one day out a a charge. This is with bluetooth and wifi turned off. You can not forward text messages without copy and pasting into a new message. There are a lot of nice things about the phone that I do like. The clearity of the phone conversation is the best I have ever had however the signal strength is not as good as previous phone which was a blackberry pearl. I just don't like Apple telling me what I can and can't do with the phone so I am going to return phone since it is less than 30 days olkd and go get a blackberry. I am glad that I tried the I phone however because it will make me appreciate the blackberry all the more.

or sync them from your computer (mac or windows) or google.

What do you mean? You download apps and they don't work?

You can not forward text messages without copy and pasting into a new message.

Yes you can. in a text conversation, click edit in the top right. then click the circle next to the msg you want to forward. then click forward in the lower right.

+ 1. Blackberry FTW! The only problem I have with the Blackberry Storm 2 is.....hmmm.....thinking.....still thinking..... I guess I love the Blackberry Storm 2, no problems at all. And it's on Verizon, has real push email, different themes, app store, syncs with (now with included disk) mac perfectly. However, I have said this before, I MIGHT switch to iPhone depending on what Apple does in June. I will, however, NOT switch to any iPhone that is currently on the market.

3 to 4 thousand texts a month and you love the physical keyboard. Then, stay with BB and get iPod Touch.

This is me. Plus I'm not on at&t and dont want to switch. I have the BB bold 9700 and an ipod touch. Love having both cuz they both have their advantages and disadvantages.

Yep, sounds like a good set up to me. I will be getting an iPod Touch as soon as the 64GB version drops 100 dollars when the 128GB model is released. I'll be using it mostly for movies, games, and TV shows.

Ive been seriously considering going with the Bold 9700 lately.

But I also love my iPhone, I dont know if its just 'the grass is always greener' scenario?!

Not sure what to do, I suppose theres always the cooling off period to decide?!

Same here. I'm going to wait until the new iPhone is released and make my decision then.

I have both and

The 9700 is the best messaging/corp device hands down. Its rock solid but very dated compared to my iPhone and Nexus. When I want to use instant messaging or reply to long emails I pick ub my 9700 otherwise the 3GS and nexus are my phones of choice.

... why do you have 3 phones?
