sorry nice try but i have twitter, wifi, pandora, BBM, web browsing, and google maps turned on about 3 or 4 times a day to find an office, and along with my texts and phone calls and after and 8hr day at work my battery on my blackberry is about 70%

The battery is THE LAST thing blackberry users worry about. I'd bet most berry users don't even have a car charger and maybe some have a charger at work just in case they forget to charge at home. and a full charge on a completely dead blackberry takes about 30 minutes. ;)

Wow that's good stuff I had a bold but I only texted and made phone calls and the battery life was amazing. So I don't know how it was with hving multiple apps like that open, hopefully apple can get a battery that works like blackverrys do.

Interesting thread to read for sure ... I've had iphones since they where introduced at the same time I owned a BB Curve and then a Bold 9000 with the idea at that time anyway to have the Blackberry for work and the iPhone for Play ...

My Curve didn't get used much once I got the iPhone, so I switched to the Bold 9000, I liked the keyboard on the 9000 and used it primarily for checking and writing emails ... my iPhone was replacing my Bold for everything else, phone, surfing, PayPal transfers, eBay, forums, weather etc ETC in was my experience that the iPhone was superior for all but email ... then I practiced typing on the iPhone more, time went by and like my old Curve my Bold 9000 started to collect dust, I was using my iPhone for everything.

With the anticipation of this new Bold 9700 coming and my thoughts that I should try it upon release because the physical keyboard was 'better' and that I could have my emails going into one box instead of having to touch-tap through to the multiple inboxes on my iphone.

On launch I bought the 9700 outright, charged it up, and set out to use it as my only phone and I put my iphone in my drawer. WOW - did I miss my iphone!!

I've owned BB's since their inception and the argument they have going for them is a secure network, BB Messenger, and for some it's better at handling email. (To my surprise I now like how my iPhone handles mail more than the BB, and I prefer the touch screen as opposed to a physical keyboard).

Surprised me, but I'm happy it turned out the way it did ... kind of a costly learning experience activating phones, buying outright and selling second hand but at least now I know FOR SURE what phone is right for me and for sure it's the iPhone.

Then I went through the recent phase of wanting to try the Motorola Droid and the Nexus One ... after reading reviews and playing with the Droid (Milestone) it's not for me.

My conclusion that for my needs, running a Business included the iPhone is by far the best phone on the market. It's simple, it works, doesn't crash or lock up, no battery or sim card pulling, the on screen keyboard is so much faster than any BB IF you practice, the screen is excellent, great app's ...

I tend to get bored with things, so I go through a lot of phones and notebooks. Being a Windows and Blackberry fan boy for a LONG time, it's a shock that the iPhone, Mac OS and MacBook Pro's turn out to be the best tools we can find ... coincidentally they're all made by Apple. Have I become an Apple Fan Boy? That's bad isn't it? Or, is it? :D

I'd like to read from others who switched from an iPhone to a 9700 ... how are you liking it?

ive been thinking about the switch for about a month now....

having a real hard time reading texts on the iphone (bb lets you set the size of the font)

yes i probably need reading glasses but im not going to carry them around just to read text messages...

my list is huge right now leaning towards the 9700 but i just cant seem to pull the triger..what will i do during my lunch at work ??? (right now i watch movies or shows and play games online on the iphone)

9700 + iPod touch = win win.

You don't have to worry about multitasking, and you can play with the touch as often as you can without battery drain worries on your next phone call. You also have 64gb capacity if you please.

- eh.. yes it does. it matters, maybe just not to you. paying for something that is free on another platform should matter. having push on ALL of your e-mail boxes should be the norm now when it comes to e-mails. having to fetch for some, and only one being pushed is nonsense.

Your objection seems basically based on principle, but my point is that in practice, most people don't care about having multiple email accounts pushed. Yes the iphone should be able to do it because why not, but in reality, it doesn't matter for most users.

- no. by default, blackberry creates a separate folder for every mail, sms, or mms mailbox you create. you can then group these e-mails into another folder if you'd like, or group them all into "messages" like most people do. color coded messages tell u exactly where they came from, and a particularly useful function for some people is that you can enable filters, so any message from a specific person, or any other "rules" will go into another "hidden" folder which you can password protect.

That's nice, but it's not what I was talking about, which is that there should be one-touch switching between inboxes, which is possible on neither the bb nor the iphone.

- apps. i don't know what to say. do i need 1000 apps to do the same thing? hm.... can't multi-task? hm....

Typical nonsense from a non-iphone user. Sure there are lots of duplicative apps, and sure lots of the apps are crap. But there are more good apps, and more distinctive apps, than on any other platform - and it's not even close. I only have about a screen and a half of 3rd party apps, but the ones I do have serve absolutely invaluable functions that I couldn't replicate on a bb (or if I could, the apps would probably cost 5x as much and I'd have absolutely no idea where to find them).

it does nothing in particular exceptionally well on the road, well, not nothing... i do see herds of chatterboxes showing each other photos in cafes.

except internet, media, email (iphone email > bb email, IMO. there may be fewer options, but at least it can display html correctly, you can select non-consecutive emails, and you can edit forwarded text), and those darn apps again.

The battery is THE LAST thing blackberry users worry about. I'd bet most berry users don't even have a car charger and maybe some have a charger at work just in case they forget to charge at home. and a full charge on a completely dead blackberry takes about 30 minutes. ;)

my curve 8320 drains very quickly. True it outlasts my iphone, but that's because it's such a pain in the ass to use that I only touch it when an email comes in.

I have the BB Bold 9700 & my wife has the iphone. List below are a list of proplems that the iphone has that is standard in the BB Bold 9700. Unless these issues have been fixed and doesnt have to be corrected thru a 3rd party app then the BB Bold 9700 wins this battle hands down. And the biggest of the proplems that the iphone has that is listed below is bluetooth problem.

Multimedia messaging - Almost every other cell phone in the market has the ability to send images to other cell phones via multimedia messaging, or MMS. Yes you can still e-mail those photos, but MMS is such a basic feature that it should've been in the iPhone from the start.

Copy and paste - Again, this is such a basic feature. Having copy and paste makes it easier to type out text messages and e-mails.

Video recording - In the world of mobile video, Qik, and YouTube, it's a shame the iPhone doesn't have video-recording capabilities. Yes the quality wouldn't be that great, but it should be an option anyway.

Voice command - For a touch-screen phone, we think voice command and voice dialing would've been a great feature add-on for the iPhone. Perhaps this will be added via a third-party app, but we would really prefer this to be a native setting.

Bluetooth flexibility - Right now, all you can use Bluetooth on the iPhone for are headset voice calls, and that's it. This is sufficient for most people, sure, but you would like for Apple and AT&T to open up the Bluetooth profiles for the iPhone. This means yall would like stereo Bluetooth and A2DP for streaming music wirelessly, Bluetooth tethering so yall can use the iPhone as a modem, and finally yall would like to have Bluetooth file-transfer protocol so yall can transfer files to and fro the iPhone.

Please somebody give me a list of proplems that the BB Bold 9700 has that iphone dont have that is worst that the ones listed above. And its ashame that the majority of the phones thart are inferior to the iphone has better bluetooth capabilities than the iphone not mention the other problems list above for the iphone is standard in most inferior phones including metro phones, boost phones ect....

Is the post above me a complete joke? Lol. Clearly, this guy is kidding. I think his wife has thr first generation iPhone or 3G. I DOUBT she has the 3GS. All of those problems have been corrected.

im just posting facts that i have found thru my own research both phones are great in its own way

has to be

its cool its no big deal to me its funny how people is fussing over a phone it really boils down to your own personal preferences dont u agree?

how is the bluetooth operation on the iphone 3gs cause everyone who dont have the 3gs will still have those problems unless they buy a whole new iphone 3gs at 199 from what i just saw at the apple site

i know bout the high radiation thats what bluetooth headsets are for just like swoking it kills but people still do it so whats yo point?

i just went to google and typed in iphone 3gs bluetooth problems and just visited a bunch of sites that talk about it i really like the iphone just bluetooth is a problem

Either

i work at Vodafone in the Uk and have a HTC HD2, Bold 9700 and 16GB 3GS. iPhone is favorite atm (only got it last month though). However the bold 9700 is a fantastic blackberry and highly recommend it.

For many tasks its better than the iPhone but u cannot beat the selection of apps for the iPhone which sets it apart.

@mrthomas No bluetooth issues to report tbh.

If I followed your same reasoning for not buying a 3GS, I wouldn't be buying a BlackBerry Bold 9700 either.

Just Googling something like "iPhone 3GS bluetooth problem" doesn't mean that there is an actual problem with bluetooth on the device. There are lots of different computer hardware configurations and levels of user technical knowledge that can lead to posts like this. It isn't necessarily a fault of the device or the software loaded on it.

Even if there is a problem with the device or software, companies can provide OS or firmware updates to resolve issues that may be present at initial product launches. Just because the initial OS may be slow, buggy, crashes, etc doesn't mean that the whole product is doomed for its software upgradeable lifecycle.

I've had every iPhone made - switched from my 32GB 3GS back when the 9700 was first released. After about a week I went back to the 3GS... Recently I decided to give the 9700 another chance and sold my 3GS and got one. Lasted less than a week and I was back with another 3GS.

The thing I loved about the 9700 was the typical "blinking light" so I wouldn't have to keep checking my screen all the time and also the battery life. But then again when I don't use my 9700 like I do the iPhone (games internet apps etc) of course the battery will last longer. But as a whole the battery is clearly better. As far as the keyboard aspect goes I'm actually faster on the iPhone than the BB and I MUCH prefer the 9000 keyboard to the 9700.

dude what are you talking about? I've never seen an iphone with a BT problem. You're just basing your objections on things you found with google, not with your own experiences. And as your post listing "problems" above shows, you clearly have no idea what you're talking about.
