Bought this one on eBay - I'm not having the flash issues that I've seen previously. Took a few photos with the flash and they looked just as okay as usual.

Is the back actually aluminum? Or is it a decal over plastic? Also how does the logo on the back look?

Thought I'd show you all my white back housing I got off eBay from Hong Kong for £7... It looks awesome, like a white iPhone 4 but with a black front (which I prefer! It's really cool! It is plastic, although it feels like glass when on, and doesn't have flash diffuser...

(Sorry about the quality of the photos, taken with laptop webcam)

So I'm not too concerned with the flash diffuser, I rarely ever take photos with the flash on, if at all. But I do have two questions before I take the plunge...

Is the camera itself covered at all in what you're seeing on these? Also, what is the back of the plate material compared to the stock apple back? I'm curious if there are any heat concerns when it's hotter outside or when charging.

It's an aluminum plate glued to a plastic mounting plate. My brother has one and it hurts his reception, so he put the glass back on.

Hope this helps.

Interesting it hurt reception, with the antenna on the outside. I'd be curious if he was using a case before, and then switched faceplates and (obviously) didnt use a case.

Since switching back to glass, his reception has been fine he said.

Who was the seller? There are so many listed and I'm not having much luck finding that one. Thanks!

Hopefully you guys do realize that you'll need more than just a foam defuser between the flash and lens. A clear or semi-clear plastic backing is not only going to reflect the flash back into the lens, it will also "bleed" into the plastic. And since (I would bet money on this) the plastic is most likely not of optical grade, all the tiny particles and defects will act like a prism inside this plastic making your pictures fuzzy (as evident by the photo posts). So the plastic on the underside of these backplates need to be non-translucent, jet black (to prevent bleeding) with a beveled housing that completely surrounds the flash (to prevent reflection).

See here: http://cnn.cn/shop/apple-iphone-beveled-back-cover-blacksilver-metal-insert-p-10351.html

Check out the underside of that backplate and you should see what I'm talking about.

i have ever bought a gold backplate from them, but now,i regretted, because they have updated many news styles, which are much more attractive and of better quality:
look at these pictures.these pictures are picked from their website site,i want to get another gold color one.becaue the i love the shape and the design

Most of the Apple Logos seem to be off-center ... I wonder if they are like that?

Avoid the beveled backs. I have one and they add thickness to the phone. This leads to two significant problems:
1. Many cases will not fit.
2. Pushing the lens further from the camera, results in the frame obscuring the image. All of your photos will look terrible. The flash is also effected by this.

It's a shame because otherwise the build quality is quite good.

I have read alot about these back plates and some say they work fine and some say they mess up reception pretty bad. So I guess it would be a try and see type of thing.

The beveled back does not affect reception much. I measures less then 3 db difference. However I have heard that the flat metal backs can result in 10-20 db drop.
