Right, so because the iPhone 4 is, apparently, more powerful than the iPad, it automatically makes the iPad obsolete technology.

My iMac is more powerful than the new Mac Mini I bought recently; I guess my Mac Mini is obsolete. :(

It doesn't make it obsolete... It's all in the matter of what you use the device for. The iPad may has less RAM but it serves it's purpose for what I use it for.

Think about all the people that still use older computers and still run XP. It works so they have no worries of getting anything newer.

I was being sarcastic. ;)

Your reasoning is flawed
Ipad is obsolete because iphone 4 is 'more powerful' AND is released [so very soon] after the ipad's release this year
The Mac Mini is less powerful than the iMac and came after the iMac update
Understand?

I think you need to get a grip on what the word obsolete means.

I was pointing out the flaw in his logic, not the validity of the argument that the ipad is obsolete...
Understand?

Coffee Time

iPad already obsolete. Go Apple! :D

Picture this. It is 730. Morning in Arizona. The smell of French Pressed coffee. My man, Carlos has cleaned the pool and is now working in the yard. I am watching the news with my iPad on my lap. Checking on my investments, surfing the weather, my calendar, my e-mail etc. Oh and do I care how much RAM I have? ...well...no. It works, life is good and when they upgrade to version 3 or 4, I can always send Carlos down to get a new one.

I have separate people that handle the pool, yard, and run errands. They all require a specific skill set.

I was merely presenting the argument and logic which the majority of users were. They were presenting the idea that, because the iPhone is, apparently, more powerful than an iPad, the iPad becomes obsolete.

You're presenting exactly the same argument with exactly the same logic; you're saying that because the iPhone is, apparently, more powerful than an iPad, the iPad becomes obosolete technology, regardless of the release date of each.

I agree with the other user; you need to understand what "obsolete" means.

Too soon.It would be crazy to produce a design for 6 months.Don't hold your breath.

yeah it would not make any sense. However, hopefully they will introduce a white version like with the iphone.

Otherwise, it's pretty much a given we'll see a frontcam and a 512 MB bump this fall to go with the iOS 4 update. Bummer for those owning an iPad and griping about it here on macrumors, but that shows you should inform yourself before purchasing something. I held off upon introduction exactly because of those two features lacking. Higher-res screen seems a bit ambitious this fall but one can hope :p

I thought this was cute (and then had to ruin it).

I don't hear anyone complaining the iPad is actually slow. They're only looking at tech data and drawing conclusions.

it's difficult hearing with your ears shut.
Try reading some of the posts in this or any other iPad releated thread for that matter.

Well i'm not sure what those people are doing with their iPad because mine is not slow. And if someone's is slow then sucks to be them. They can always sell it or take it back.

Personally i'm tired of people trying to suck enjoyment out of the iPad just because they happen to be dissatisfied. Anything can be slow if someone really needs to be just to prove a maladjusted point.

lol, this is funny, as soon as its announced the iphone 4 has 512mb of ram, BOOM, ipad owners automatically think their ipad is slow. If you have been fine with it so far then be happy. It doesnt just magically slow down if a device with more ram comes out.

I agree.. I don't even think of the specs of my iPad.. It does everything I want to do, without any problems...

Now, when it comes to my macs, specs are always important.

What, exactly, are you referring to? I've been using my iPad for a while now, have had umpteen Safari windows open, etc etc etc, and never once a hiccup. I maintain that people are only calling it "slow" because they're looking at the hardware specs and drawing erroneous conclusions. The hardware in the iPad is just fine for running the applications it was designed to run. Period.

I have iStat installed on my iPhone 4. I'm not sure how reliable the readings are or how it even gets its readings, but my phone only shows 225MB of RAM when I add up the wired, active, free, and inactive. So does the iPhone 4 REALLY have 512MB of RAM?

My iPad definitely runs more slowly when I'm listening to a podcast. It sometimes takes a few presses to get it to react to something, I assume because the processor, or whatever, is busy with the podcast playing. Website loading also slows down a fair bit too. It definitely seems like the iPad is underpsecced, as it shouldn't suffer from any of these things.
