how is the OS and data stored on the iphone? is it on an actual HD or is it flash card or ???
they are going to offer insurance on the 4.0 as well.
They should have invited iFixit over and done a joint teardown.
Gizmodo said:Unfortunately for us, Apple intends to keep this a secret. There are no markings on the board, but even so, the board was encased in metal all around so nothing could get through and would be very difficult to remove without breaking the device. Anyone trying to take this part off the phone would damage the device irreparably. On top of this metal, there was a thermal paste-like material. And on top of that, black tape. They really didn't want people looking inside.
I wanted to make sure I didn't damage the components beyond repair, so I didn't take the metal off. So this is as much as I could learn without actually breaking the phone. And this is why I couldn't find out if there was an A4 processorlike the iPad'sin this iPhone. I also couldn't really identify many parts, because they were hidden under the metal sheath.
How pissed is Apple that their new flagship device, that's still a secret is exposed totally naked all over the web. This is like a released sex tape or some crap....I love it.
Still getting EVO though,
The EVO is a beauty compared to that iphone, I will be also buying the EVO
Anyone know how the A4 processor compares to the 3GS processor, in terms of power consumption?maybe apple finally listened to our cries for a better battery

If the A4 uses more power, it's possible that the battery life may not be much improved, or could be even worse.
The A4 sips power. In fact, power consumption is probably the reason Apple hasn't stepped up performance much from the iPhone. In order to get 10 hours of battery life, the entire iPad (including display) has to pull less than 2.5 Watts on average.

Nice, thanks! So It's entirely reasonable to put a 1ghz chip in a phone with a 1400mAh battery. If Google can do it Apple can!
I have to say that that is about the worst tear-down I've ever seen. Not only did he fail to discover anything interesting, the photos are so bad it's hard to make out what he did show us. Did he take these pictures with his iPhone?

It's what happens when you shoot all your pictures with a macro lens and don't bother kicking the f-stop up.Every photo is at some fancy angle or focused weird.... bleh....

Edit: Oh for the dissection I see they were using a 17-40 not the 180Macro they used for the other pictures, but still shooting wide open. I guess when you're shooting for "cool" and not for details that's how it pans out.
LOL I'm a total photography noob, you lost me. TBQH I could hit the macro button on my point n shoot and see more, sure it wouldn't look cool. But I could see stuff.
Its so weird to look at a clear photo yet fee blind? (kinda, yeah? no?)
This sure does away with any speculation that it was a controlled leak.
GIZMODO are publishing it now. The have formal notification that the device belongs to Apple and they are releasing pics, no doubt making cash via visits to their website.
No doubt now that Apple will be suing their ass.
I suspect in the end of the dy this is all going to go very wrong for the young Mr's Brian Lam and Jason Chen.
I wouldn't be at all surprised if Gizmodo had its press passes for Apple events revoked for the foreseeable future.
Heh, so that battery IS user removable? Or will it not be in the consumer version?
