No, no, no mon frere.

You must understand the underlying technologies in both displays to make an informed decision.

Samsung uses Pentile matrix technology in their displays, which is quit inferior to the display tech Apple chose to go with (LG manufactured).

Inaccurate colour reproduction (greys look more like pink) and not a true resolution of 480X800 (392x653 is the effective resolution)

I have to agree with you on all this. There have been a number of articles about the drawbacks of a pentile display. Sorry I don't have links handy.

I'm so glad Apple passed on OLED tech.

Love the Retina display and as others have said, once you have used it and then see a 3G(s) or current iPod Touch screen you appreciate the Retina all the more. Well worth the upgrade in my book.

the screen on the iPhone 4 is THE best screen on any device and I personally feel that is what is attracting a lot of buyers as well, beside the fact that it's the newest iPhone <3

I was considering getting an Android instead of an iPhone 4, but I don't want a larger phone. It seems that all of the premier Androids are following the 4"+ trend, which left the iPhone as best phone at a size I was comfortable with.

4.3" is too big, but 4" is just right. It feels roomier, and stuff on web pages is easier to read, but its only a little bit bigger in form factor than an iphone.

I find it funny that 0.5" brings "too many advantages to list" yet the iPad has an extra 6.2" yet gets dismissed as being just a big iPod Touch.

cmon now. you cant put an ipad in your pocket.

It really is outstanding. The first thing I noticed when I switched out my 3G S for the 4 was that the colors were brighter and deeper.

I will have to say, when I first turned on my iP4, everything look very crisp and I was pretty surprised. But the real kicker was after I used it for a while, I started playing with my friend's 3GS and I am not going to lie, everything looked blurry. It was pretty hard to look at compared to my iP4. I think the retina display is so sleek and sexy it is definitely worth the upgrade.

It's all about preference. iPhone pushes the size that i'm willing to carry, the 4" Androids exceed it. I'm not against a larger screen, but it does not justify a larger device for me. I have access to bigger screens when the need arises.

You just need a bigger pocket ;).
I was pointing out some hypocrisy that I hear at the office. The same people who tell me a 4" display is a game changer, 3 months ago told me that the iPad screen size didn't significantly differentiate it from an iPod Touch.

If you haven't seen it No. If you have Yes.

When I use my gf's 3gs and it looks so bad. I can't believe I never noticed it before!

Exactly. I never had any problem with the older screens in 3 years of use, but once you go retina display, everything else seems unacceptable.

Disagree, it blew me away the first time I saw it.

I was incredibly skeptical. The way Jobs described it over and over again, I figured, come on, it's not going to be that good. I was wrong. It is.

I wasn't really buying my iPhone 4 for the retina display, I was buying it for the form factor. It looks less cheap then the iPhone 3GS and much more appealing.

Then I saw the screen.. and it was magical. ;)

........and revolutionary

The screen is literally a backlit magazine (a pocket sized magazine). The simplest thing that grabbed me the first couple of days was the number dialling tab in the Phone app. Just the way the white letters glowed against the dark buttons was just simple, yet amazing to look at. It's much more profound when you look at it at night in a dark area.
