mine never did it at day one, only recently so i don't get it. i updated to 4.1 in september so would it have started happening then if it was cause of that. ugh i dont get how software bugs work!
You don't know what the problem with any one particular phone is though. The home button could be physically stuck on something rather than registering two clicks.
The simplest thing is to ensure that the button works on every phone!
How would they experience different problems?
Slowing down the double-click speed by a millisecond isn't going to cause anyone problems.
Exactly how fast do you need to double tap?
Maybe right now the double-click gap is .001 of a second
If Apple changed it to .05 of a second, people could still double-click as fast as they can and they won't click fast enough for it to NOT register the double-click.
However, perhaps a single press is registering 2 impossibly fast double-clicks that nobody would ever be able to achieve if they were trying their hardest. So slowing it down by a fraction of a second, could make EVERYONE'S iPhone work.
I never had the proximity sensor issue, and now with 4.1, I still don't. That's how Apple solved that hardware problem that only SOME were experiencing without having to replace their iPhones.
I just took my iphone 4 back for this issue and the genius replaced it without a hassle at all. He even said well it must be frustrating that it doesn't happen all the time because when you come in here its hard to replicate an issue like this. He then asked if it was okay if he just gave me a new phone and i said that would be fine.
New phone works perfectly, although its only been a little over a day. Glad i decided to take it in and swap it now!
I'm not too good with the phone but I'm also experiencing this same problem, and have been for quite some time. It also happened on my 3G and was pretty much completely unresponsive the day before the iPhone 4 launch.
First, I dont have applecare and my phone is jailbroken... I dont mind losing the jailbreak in order to solve this problem but as long as I sync the phone and lose the jailbreak to restore everything back to the factory settings I should not have an issue scoring a new phone, right?
Second, the back glass is actually cracked. Would they deny me a new phone and try to blame this issue on being a side affect of the back glass breaking?
Yes I know it certainly seems like im screwed all around here. Its not such a big issue that I cannot deal with but it does get annoying from time to time. Also, if they'll replace my phone it'll also take care of the back glass being broken.
My old phone with the funky home button used to only have like 5-6mb free memory. The new one (also 4.1) always has over 150mb. All content and apps are the same.
Hahaha. Open a bunch of apps and you'll see your memory get all used up.
