My prediction is that the new JB tools will come out after 4.1 comes out.

At this point, I'm hoping that they do wait until 4.1 is out. There are many bugs in 4.0 that need addressing more than I need a jailbreak. There's the proximity sensor issue, volume dropping, images turning black in photo albums, photos & videos not being able to rotate when the orientation is changed, multitasking tweaks that are needed.....as I said, lots of problems with 4.0. A jailbreak/unlock after 4.1 would be fantastic.

Spirit doesn't hacktivate either and isn't the preferred type of JB.

Spirit has gotten the lion's share of media attention for it's one touch method of jailbreaking. I thought it was the only one until I started hearing about blackra1n, sn0wbreeze & others. But, I've looked at what is involved with getting sn0wbreeze onto the iPhone. It wasn't one button easy. That explains why people seem to keep Spirit at the top of their list. Me personally, I like all of the headaches taken out of the process of JB. Plus, I'd probably use fewer JB apps & use them less often. But, I have a few apps that I want or are waiting for, so JB is the only route.

Yeah right! I can say, we will get JB + Unlock for iPhone4....... eventually, but for sure we will get it lets say before Jan 01, 2021 :)

Seriously, guessing is good, but it is far from reality. And reality is that would the JB + Unlock be commercial product we could expect some dates to be announced, .. but since it is NON COMMERCIAL product (just some morons trying to make money on it) we should just wait. And of course ones it is out it will spread EVERYWHERE across the net in a minutes. You won’t miss it, even if you want to :)

By the way I was always trying to answer one question to myself: Why only guys from Dev Team are working on the JB, Unlock solutions for iPhone. What I am trying to say is that I am sure that guys from Dev Team are smart enough to do all this stuff and they really succeed BUT I cannot believe that no one else across the planet did not ever try to hack this device ? Just interesting because as more interesting JB solutions we have as more choice we do have. Personally me always stacked with DevTeam solutions but do not mind to try any other one if it exists.

(Pardon my broken English) ... Quebec, Canada, French speaking.... :D
I'm seriously not about to read ALL of that.

4.1 probably won't be out until september. They usually have somewhere around 3 beta versions for developers to test. I think the first beta expires somewhere around august 18 or something.

Anyway, I don't believe they will be waiting for 4.1. The consensus was they would wait for 4.0.1, since many people would be updating, hoping it fixed their antenna issue. Now that 4.0.1 is out, the JB will be released when it is finished.

Wouldn't it stand to reason that a lot of people will be updating to 4.1 to fix the proximity sensor issue? A jailbroken phone is great, but is no good to anyone if their face keeps muting or disconnecting calls.

I've read that some people have said that 4.0.1 fixed their prox sensor problems. This is only a small percentage. These people are probably begging for the jailbreak.

It's called taking a guess. You know how people stared down their iPhone tracking trying to guess when their iPhone would arrive. Smh. At least I didn't say, "My sources tell me it'll be released on August 15. Confirmed."

That's not the same thing.

A tracking number will tell you when to expect your package.

MuscleNerd never gave a date.

How could that fix the sensor problem when apple admittedly said the update did NOTHING to it?

I'm just telling you what I read. I missed the statement that the prox sensor can't be fixed with a software update. But, we all know that the internet is full of truth. [sarcasm off]

You can say that, but then again not everyone is having the proximity sensor problem (myself included).

But the fact that people will update can't stop the dev team from releasing new tools. Everyone and their mother will update "accidentally" (which seems impossible, how do you click update and wait for the fw to download and then install?) . But the fact that a new firmware is coming out won't stop the devteam from releasing, it's a cat and mouse game. They release jb's, apple patches it in the upcoming update (usually). If you didn't release cause of 4.1, why not wait till 4.2, 5.1, etc etc.

also musxlenerd has said before neither Apple waits for the Dev-team. Also the Dev-team doesn't wait for Apple. when it's ready they will release it.. Dev-team strives to make quality jailbreak and unlock tools. this is why they have always been the preferred choice. people can believe what ever they want!

Apple has said they will address the prox sensor
4.0.1 did nothing to it.

hmm. all members of the dev team have been awfully quiet lately. I haven't heard a peep/update/tweet for a while now. (more than a day)

yeah - it's been quiet. Hope that means they are working hard on it. We do know that they are comparing the two different kinds of unlocks - and that comex hates The New York Times and is frustrated w/ Chrome - which I like to believe is code for something :D
