iPhone 4 Launches in China to Thousands

India has 700+ million (and growing) total subscribers out 1.1 billion people, but still only about 20,000 iPhones were sold in the first eight months it was available.

Hundreds of millions of poor people with cheap cell phones do not equal an equivalent number of expensive smartphone + data plan buyers.

There are three carriers in China - China Mobile, China Unicom and China Telecom

China Unicom runs GSM and WCDMA (UMTS) (same as AT&T and T-Mobile)
China Mobile runs GSM and TD-SCDMA (China 3G standard)
China Telecom runs CDMA2000 (same as Verizon and Sprint)

100% agree, I've been waiting a month for mine ... it's supposed to be shipping this coming Friday but I'm not holding my breath.

It also makes me realize that their new prosperity seems to be based on that: auctioning off their workforce to the outside world. Eventually, they make out because they will now have an advanced workforce that is quite familiar with making advanced technology. We, however, have slashed our workforce. We get a few billionaires in return.

technically iphone is made by a taiwanese company with factory in china

if apple can win over chinese people, then it's over for microsoft

Develop the Chinese market well, AAPL stock price will shoot through the roof. We'll all benefit from the extra profit and funds in the form of more R&D, more product, better products. As long as it doesn't fall into some other IT company's model.
 
iphone 4 released in Dominican Republic

we got the iphone 4 on friday and it is already sold out in all the locations.

It's unfortunate that many areas sell out of iPhones very fast. My question is that in the U.S., after being released for a while, does the selling of iPhones settle down a bit?
 
With no access to youtuble, fackbook, tweeter and an not so ready Chinese App store. The Iphone 4 is only an over priced, good looking phone for the chinese market.

"Perfect" for the small percentage of people living in the upper northern latitudes who believe in a tale about a baby in a manger.

For the rest of us, encourage our suppliers to keep religion out of the sales pitches. I'm all for Saturnalia sales, though.
 
It is still a flawed phone Design

It's still a flawed design. In my house with the my 3g I had -100 I went to the iPhone 4 and I was (with no case at -135). With a case I was at - 128.

I switched to the Droid X and changed carriers. I'm at -84. My battery life using GolfShot GPS App left me at 40% battery life after the golf round.

The Droid X on Android OS 2.2 was 82%.

You can try as much as you want to convince yourself and others that you didn't purchase a flawed design, then you deserve the iPhone 4, 5, 6, 7 and then just give AT&T and Steve Jobs your soul, because you are that ignorant.

iOS4 and the design flaw in the new iPhone made me return the phone.

I couldn't commit myself to a 2 year contract, that I had to have a case for in order to possibly keep a phone call.

I returned my iPhone 4 (Steve Jobs, what the heck were you thinking with the that stupid antenna design? You are old, let the younger design and approve. Start giving to Charity and do 1 thing right in your personal life).

Enjoy the phone. I have every App, great call quality with my new Droid X on Verizon.

Enjoy my returned phone. It's FLAWED, BY DESIGN! (That's what I couldn't keep the phone).

Apple knew it was as design flaw in the antenna and millions of people are signing their souls to Apple because by design they are stupid.

Maybe this is the way of the world. Only the strong survive...

I am guessing China's biggest service provider is CDMA and that is why Apple is building that version. When that one comes out the numbers will be insane.

Sorry dude I've been saying that for over 30days now. But its good to see others thinking about the White iPhone 4 being released in time for Christmas. I still have another thought that a 64GB Limited/Special Edition will also be released mid cycle.
