Greenwich CT

Got to the Greenwich CT around 4:00pm, was in there for about 15 minutes. I had preordered and had a print out of the email. Showed it to a girl there and she asked if I wouldn't mind waiting a minute,, "a minute" thats funny.. was preparing to wait 2-3 hours. Apparently it was crazy there this morning. I asked and they do not have any walk in phones left. The person that helped me said a couple of customers said they may camp out tonight and try their luck in the morning. All preorders not picked up today will be available to walk-ins tomorrow morning, first come first serve.

No issue with the phone works perfect, no yellow marks and I cannot replicate the issue with holding it and seeing the bars go down.

LUCKY DAY

went to the store 10 minutes before it opened with ONLY 4 ppl in front of me and my friend and I we both left with brand new iPhone 4 without reservation or preorders :D

Wow. Well that was crazy. I was literally the last person out of the store this evening. Managed to get one (on the contract I wanted) after much blagging and reasoning with the guys at the Bullring Apple Store.

It had been crazy there all day, and there were maybe 10 of us left as the store 'closed'. Brilliantly though, they managed to fit us last few reservers in! They are honouring the reservations till Sunday now, but it's hugely inconvenient for me to go back there over the next few days and from all accounts, there are still several hundred who will be queueing again tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday!

A friend did manage to get one from the Apple store in Leics (my home town), although I'm not sure how much waiting he had to do.

Madison redux

Got to the Apple Store at West Towne Mall around 10:15am, thinking the AM lines would have cleared out of the "reserved" lane. Instead, the reserved line was longer than the non-reserved, and predicted waits of 2-3 hours. I ended up leaving (another obligation, plus I didn't bring any work/reading material with me) but will be back in the afternoon, hopefully before I have to pick up my son around 4pm. They did tell me that the line had gotten somewhat shorter since opening at 7am, so my hope is that it'll be way shorter when I return.

The staff told me my reserved phone was good until 9pm. (And, FWIW, my reservation sailed through online with no problem on day 1...probably a good thing I was up at 5:40am CT and trying it then. :)

I was in line for the opening of this store 3 years ago, about 5 days after the original iPhone launch, and getting there an hour before had me about #40 in line or so. This is absolutely insane...next time, I go with shipping.

So I came back at 2pm...took almost exactly two hours to get through the line. I really don't understand why they couldn't just sell me my reserved phone so I could get the heck out of there. I didn't need any special help...I also admit I was a little irked that they were taking some people from the non-reserve line. Not because I was worried about not getting my phone, but because it was eating up time. (I had to go fetch my son, then deal with dinner, etc...and it would've been close to impossible to come back in the evening...and since my reservation would've expired...*sigh*)

Next time, I just ship it. My assumption that in-store pickup would allow for a waltz-in, waltz-out experience was clearly wrong. Still, having said that...aside from the line, it was a pleasant experience, and I read a good chunk of the novel I had brought along. :)

It must be local then because there are various people who checked multiple times with their local store and some specifically stated times when the "reserved" phones would be sold. I was specifically told in the store in NH not to wait until the evening. Definitely check it out for yourself where you have your reservation.

You were correct. I went to the Nashua, NH store at 11 am and the line was very long so I decided to go back later. When I got there at 7:45pm they had sold them all. I guess a reservation doesn't mean what I thought it did.

no reservation

so i was one of those guys who pre ordered over internet with july 14th date as latest date offered by apple. had another upgradge available made it over to my local apple store in gilbert, az, usa. waited in line 27th @ 6pm after work for non reserved, no reservation line. was told would have to wait til 9pm for all non reserves to to not pickup phones. i was 2nd to last and walked away with an iphone 4g. =) the wait wasn't really all that bad. met some really cool peeps in line and the free water and junk food was nice. no yellow, or dropped bars. takes awesome pics! extrememly satisfied like a matte to glossy change in look.

Got off jury service early today so I decided to check out the Freehold Raceway Mall location in NJ. The line(s) are SICK!!! Good thing that it's inside because it's HELLA HOT today...

My first gen is still working fine, think I'll wait awhile before I jump... :)
How long did the first gen iPhone last you? :p
