This works like a charm, better than the sbsettings toggle ... just assign it to sleep button and you can easily turn it on/off in the dark :D

for those getting the gsc-camera flash dependency issue, here's what worked for me:

1. Remove any legitimate flashlight apps you may have
2. Reboot
3. Install SpringFlash

Without the reboot, I couldn't get it to install no mater what I tried. Once SpringFlash is installed, I was able to reinstall Flashlight with no problems, and both work perfectly, even following subsequent reboots.

Anybody else getting really weird behavior out of Springflash if the device is locked?

I have it assigned to a hold of the sleep button. If I activate it while my phone is locked, sometimes it'll just flash on and then off... sometimes it'll stay on for a second or two and then turn itself on, and sometimes it'll work normally.

If I unlock the device and then activate it, it seems to work fine. Very strange.

maybe it happens if you let go of pressure a little bit so the phone unlocks and activates the flash at the same time?

It's happened to me a couple times.

^ This. I've also noticed that it happens more when I have my bumper on it.

Exactly what mine does.

I still have slide to unlock, so I don't think that could be it. Also, I just tested it out and if I can get it to stay on for a few seconds, then I sit it on something flash and don't even touch it, sometimes it'll turn itself off. Again, only if I turn it on with the device locked.

I actually have been trying it out for a couple of days and get the same thing, first time it stays on for 10-15 sec, then it becomes erratic, stays on for a few seconds, turns off etc.

It's working fine for me. I have it set for a double tap on the status bar. Double tap turns it on and a double tap turns it off.

Nice app.

Hey does anyone have it working where your light stays on for longer than 30 second? (mine usually goes out after maybe 15 seconds)

I think the phone goes to sleep after that long. I have SpringFlash set to activate on the lockscreen with Volume Up, Volume Down. If my phone is asleep and I just hit Up, Down, the LED turns on for about 10 seconds, then switches itself off. If I hit the home or lock button to turn on the screen (to bring it to the lockscreen), the light turns back on. The screen switches itself off after a minute of inactivity, and the LED turns itself off 10 seconds after that.

If I turn the LED on, then unlock the phone (to go to the Home screen), the LED stays on until 10 seconds after the phone goes to sleep. So I think it's some sort of power saving thing the phone itself is doing...

Yes makes sense

If you set it for "Hold Sleep Button" under "LockScreen", then you can hold the sleep button while the phone is sleeping to turn on/off the flashlight without waking up the phone. Tap it to wake up, hold it to turn on LED. Really useful.

Thank you for this suggestion. It works perfectly for me now :)

SpringFlash is the name.

this only work with iphone 4 firmware 4.0. will this work with firmware 4.02?

I'm using it on an iPhone 4 with 4.1. However there's no jailbreak for 4.0.2 so I don't see how you will be able to use it. You have to either downgrade to 4.0.1 or upgrade to 4.1.

I'm also having the same problem with the light turning off after a while and also sometimes not turning on at all. Wish there was a reliable fix for this as it's such a great hack and idea.
