Is my Pick-Up Guaranteed?

I reserved my iphone for pick-up at the Apple store on 6/24, and I noticed the fine print on the email confirmation says "Pre-authorization does not guarantee iPhone availability at an Apple Retail Store. iPhone is sold on a first-come, first-served basis."

Does this mean they may not actually have my iphone when I go to the store? I won't be able to get to the store on 6/24 until the afternoon, so am worried they may be gone if the above statement is true...

To continue, finally got thru on phone to ATT and they tell me no way to know if order went thru except check online for status. However it turns out it takes 24 hours for that to show. Lots of fun, guess I will just order another and then cancel if I am to get two. What fun. But it is very beautiful here at Pebble Beach and life is good.

Yep, I don't see anything in my order status either. Just going to re-order when possible and take one back if I end up with a double order.

Other wireless carriers have got to be laughing there tails off at this.

Or jealous of this. Here's the number 3 network in terms of data, with a lot of people complaining about service and sooooo many people want this device they will put up with it just to have the device and deal with this pre-order.

I think jealous.

That is exactly what it means. They've done this with the past couple of releases, and sell out quickly in major markets. Your "reservation" just means you wait in a different line.

I had the same problem. I created a new iTunes account and used it to reserve my second iPhone and that worked. The guy at the Apple store told me its one iTunes account per iPhone. So just create a new one.

Yup, that worked. I've got my wife's phone reserved under the other iTunes account.

In regards to all the worries about Apple not honoring reservations placed, I doubt it's going to be a problem.

As one who has waited twice in the opening day iphone line, why on earth would anyone choose to wait in any sort of line when you can get it shipped to you on the same day as the wait?

Wow, that's lame. What's the point of a reservation if it doesn't actually reserve anything?

Imagine reserving a table at a restaurant and being thrown into the lengthy queue upon timely arrival anyway. :(

I think they have every intention of honoring reservations but if they screw up, they don't have a class action suit on their hands with a bunch of people looking for gas money for wasted trips to the Apple store.

i can't blame AT&T completely on this.. at least I was able to get my phone from AT&T's site eventually..

apple.com is still a mess

This is EXACTLY why I wanted mine shipped vs. reserved. A shipment is a guarantee...a reservation apparently is not. They hook you with the word 'reserve' and then slam you with fine print.

I'm just hoping AT&T gets my shipment in my hands on the 24th. Not that activation will go any more smoothly that day anyway. :(

So if I don't go to the store for the opening lineup but show up in the afternoon, will Apple have held my phone for me regardless of how many people were in the "no reservation" line? The "first come, first served" line in the fine print seems to indicate no...

I live an hour away from the nearest Apple store, so I didn't want to reserve one there, and the app just crashed every time I tried to actually order a phone rather than reserve one at the store.

Finally just went to the AT&T store ... they set things up in no time, and I've got my phone set to be shipped to me. Hope it comes on the 24th!

Try Radioshack!!!

Hey guys, i called radioshack and they took my information on the phone and they even checked my upgrade eligibility on the phone as well. You can confirm with them by getting Radioshack to give you the PIN number once the pre-order goes through: I have 2 PIN number because I reserved 2 iPhone 4. Here are my PIN numbers: 2200000033989, 2200000041164. LET ME KNOW IF ANYONE ELSE HAS ANY LUCK CALLING RADIOSHACK AND PRE-ORDERING WITH THEM!!
