I pre-ordered my Black 32 gig iPhone 4 from Best Buy. The best thing about ordering from them is that you can opt for the White model and they reserve a time slot for you to come in and pick up your phone. On the downside, you have to purchase a nonrefundable BB Gift Card of $50 in order to reserve the phone.

Anybody else annoyed by the stupidity of Apple's error message? They keep telling me my session "expired."

No.

"Expire" implies that I went off and had a latte and came back in 15 minutes and one second and hit "next" and in the meantime they decided that for good store security they should end my session.

"Expire" does not mean that YOUR stupid ****ing server melted into a puddle of slag while I waited PATIENTLY for it to respond to me.

As soon as i walked into the store a lady made an announcement that said No cash, No debit cards, only major credit cards accepted. That's ludacris i just left as soon as i heard that nonsense

That's absurd. I've never heard of anyone not accepting cash.

I successfully reserved one using the phone app, but when I try to do the 2nd phone on my account, I keep getting "Could not create your reservation at this time. Please try again later..."

I'm not sure if this is a coding problem and it won't allow me to do more than 1 on my account or if the reservations system is hosed again. Anyone else been able to reserve more than 1 with your account info?

I've been experiencing this same problem

Error!!!!!

Ordered mine at 2am this morning but trying to order one for my girlfriend but all i get is Error which suuuuccckkksss.....

Please please answer this for me.

I got through the Apple site and preordered mine, and paid. I got an order number when I clicked submit and it showed the details of the order. However, am I suppose to receive a confirmation email? because I Didn't get one. Did it not go through?

It takes around 15 minutes for the system to process the order fully.

Sure you didn't just reserve it? I don't see that option to purchase on my version of the store app...

Not only is that just a "reservation," it's a useless one. Look at the bottom of the e-mail. Your "reservation" is not a guarantee of availability. In other words, your "reservation" doesn't actually RESERVE anything!

Shipping address = Billing account address

I was not able to order on the AT&T site earlier today even after getting through the server mess, because all my credit cards have a PO Box as the billing address (as does my AT&T account) and they will only ship to the account billing address.

I thought that I could just change my billing address (which I did) to my home address, but then my credit card statement does not match that address, and I heard other customers had received a cancellation notice after placing their order (because of this).

So, for me AT&T order is not an option. I think Apple's pre-order may be the same, but since I couldn't get through I just reserved it using the Apple Store App. Wonder what kind of lines we will be in for on the 24th??

it's been about 45 mins now since I made the order..... should I Be worried?

Honestly, with the servers the way they are I probably wouldn't bug Apple until tomorrow. If you don't get an email by then you should probably call them or whatnot.

I really doubt you'd get an order number and not an iPhone.

!Chrome

By the way, I don't recommend using Chrome for this. I've managed to get Chrome stuck on the "daisy" screen ("Processing information") two or three times now. I suspect that somehow the javascript polling fails on Chrome and the page just gets stuck there.

I think you're right, I checked my account on apple store and the order is placed. Thank you so much for your response!

btw what's going on with ATT site? my gf is trying to order hers and both att and apple aren't working...I was under the impression att was working fine.

Anyone else get theirs preordered for store pickup and have it say $699 for the 32gb in the confirmation email? I know im eligible for an upgrade and when I went through the iPhone app it said $299. I'm assuming this just has to do with ATTs servers crashing.

Please people, can't you just wait to pre-order tomorrow? Or the next day? They aren't going to sell out in the first couple of days of pre-orders. I doubt you will get the phone any earlier based on when you pre-order or at least not any difference between the first couple of days of preorder.

One thing to clarify for a few readers, because I see this confusion about when you get charged for a pre-order a lot. If you use a debit card, you will be charged immediately because the seller needs to check that you have the cash in your bank account at the time of the transaction. That money gets frozen in your bank account immediately. A credit card should only be charged when the product ships (the seller knows that Visa or Amex is going to have the cash then, so they can wait).

Finally, if Apple can have this kind of response on preorder days, this means that iPhone 4 is going to be a huge hit. I'm thinking that it will outsell every Android Phone easily, outsell every individual Android Phone manufacturer, and come close to selling as many as all the Android Phone's together. I'm going to get one through work once work has approved them. They just recently approved the iPhone in general, so I hope that it doesn't take too long to approve a new model.
