Yellow line

Got mine the 24 didn't notice the yellow till the 27 and it's an entire line above the home button. Really hoping it'll fade and I love the phone. Out of the country till the 3 and if it's still around when I return I'll be heading to AT&T. I could understand a spot but not a line. Anyone else?

Mine had a small dot at the bottom right on Friday when I got it.

As of today it is completely gone

I thought mine had cleared, but it is back and is there most of the time. Not sure what triggers it but I'll be taking it back if its still doing it after a trip this week. The spot is most visible on a white screen and its at the lower left. Coincidentally, on a black screen there is some wash out in that same corner, so I don't think there is really something wrong with it.

I do love the thing and have no doubt that it will be swapped... just need to get a chance to go do it.

Heat. when your phone cools down, the yellow disappears but comes back after some uses.

Mine has a yellow spot on the left corner, I called apple and they agreed to swap mine with a new one without asking me any question. they are picking up my iphone tonight.

iPhone 4 Yellow Screen Blotches fade when cool- return with Heat

I can confirm the same yellow/brown screen blotch in the lower left hand corner of my iPhone 4. I bought two last week and only one exhibits the problem. I got my hopes up initially after I waited a day and it was gone, however, it returns with a vengeance after phone is outside in the heat, only to disappear again when it cools down. The yellow and brown is apparent against a white or grey screen. When a black background is used, the black is washed out or slightly lighter than the rest of the screen.

Of note that when turned off, you can clearly see with the right lighting and reflections that the LCD surface layer under the glass bends up in this area, indicating that this is a physical defect, such as the LCD didn't bond to the glass panel in this area fully, etc.

My original iphone actually developed this exact same issue after a year. I ended up getting it swapped. That stinks that brand new phones are experiencing this now. Though I'll still get one and hope for the best, I know Apple will resolve it by phone replacement if need be. But still, it's a shame to see Apple products becoming products with such poor build quality.

My friend who is an old-school Mac user "turned me" a few years ago because I wanted quality products, and was sick of dealing with PC problems. That sucks that I'm not having more issues with my Apple products than I ever did with PC related stuff... My older cellphones may have been extremely basic when compared to an iPhone, but I NEVER had these types of problems.

replacement?

how is Apple going to replace phones right away when these babies are selling like hotcakes??? :apple: FTW

Fwiw

After 6 days, my yellow spots were not resolving themselves. I made a Genius Bar appointment, with the intention of getting a replacement phone.

Long story short, I was issued a new phone, and the screen is flawless. Their replacement units do not come in a retail box, rather in a small, black cardboard box with only a serial/model number sticker. (I was not given the box, only the phone.)

Interesting points to note:

1. The Genius, Brian, confirmed that it is an issue with the adhesive not having fully cured. He asked that I use the phone for another week; I refused.
2. Apple has implemented an information gathering program relative to this issue, that all Apple Store Geniuses are using. If you've ever shopped at an Apple Store, you know they make extensive use of the iPod Touch, for credit card checkouts, etc. Brian went through a series of questions using a detailed program on his iPod Touch to capture as much info as possible about my particular phone, my usage habits, etc. In all, it was about 18 questions. He then plugged my phone into a Macbook Pro and ran a test/download on how the phone had been used. What all of this tells me is that Apple jumped on this issue last week/over the weekend and pushed this diagnostic program out to all stores as fast as they could. THAT impressed me.

All in all, a great Apple Store experience.

so i made an appt with apple the genius tells me that i have to take the screen cover that came with the phone off for the bonding agent to dry? he refused to give me a replacement and told me to leave the screen cover off and come back in 3-4 days if they are still there. everyone who had theirs go away, did you have a screen cover on or off?

You know that leaving the screen cover on may lead to proximity sensor issues right? Take it off, the screen is not going to mind and wait a few days then take it back to the Store and show them its still an issue.

I think I posted that my spot went away the 2nd day I had the phone, but it came back later that day and has persisted. I am planning to take it back to the Apple store for replacement but figured I'd wait another week to see if anything else happened.

iPhone 4 Replacement

I've had my iPhone 4 for over a week and went to the store re: yellow spots on screen.

The genius looked at the spots and ordered a replacement.

Advice:

1. Decline their request to record usage patterns or something to that effect when they ask to speed up the replacement process.

2. Explain how long you've had the phone and that the spot has not disappeared.

3. My spot faded a little, but with heat caused by exposure to sunlight or heavy use, the spots reappear.

Good luck.

sorry to dig up the thread but i just got my i4 today.

It has the yellow blotch on the bottom right of the screen :(

What's the verdict? Will this go away after a few days? I've already installed a SGP screen shield. Should I remove this?

Any advice is much appreciated. Cheers

It does not resolve itself

I havent had the time to have mine replaced yet, but it does not resolve itself. It simply fades when the phone cools down (in air conditioning, overnight without use, etc). Mine goes away when cool and comes back when outside in the warm air, etc. I have had my phone since a day after release day. I tried to take it back a few days later but I think the Apple sales staff in the store were reading the same forums saying it was the "bonding agent" etc so they were just regurgitating the same stuff and they asked me to give it a few days. Well, I think that having it nearly 6 weeks or so I can state that it is not some bonding agent that just needs to cure. I will get it swapped at some point in the future.

I just got my iPhone 4 replaced because of a problem with the home button, and the new one seems to have a very strange tint to the screen, the whole screen seems abit yellowy-green
