In a sign that Apple's supply crunch for the iPhone 4 may be beginning to ease, shipping estimates for both the 16 GB and 32 GB models have improved to 5-7 business days on the company's U.S. online store. Shipping estimates in stores for other countries remain, however, at three weeks.

Analysts had noted as early as mid-August that Apple's ramping of iPhone 4 production should enable the company to ease shortages by the end of September, a prediction that does appear to now be beginning to come about.

Android must be crushing the iPhone!!!!!!

OK, not really, but that's how some news sites will interpret this.

Glad to see Apple is trying to keep up with demand, but 5-7 days still means a crunch.

I've been using an Android phone since the i4 shipped... can't wait to get back to an iPhone. All you need is a case to fix the i4's primary flaw. I wish there was such a simple fix for ANdrOID.

I just bit the bullet and bought mine on 10/02 from my local AT&T store.
It was a good experience and my box was labeled "9/22" which I'm assuming means that was when they got in stock.

Don't believe the media hype - 99.5% of people don't experience this 'issue' - it tends to be those in very poor signal areas. None of my friends around the world experience this issue to any more extent that sometimes losing one or two signal bars, it doesn't affect their ability to make or receive calls.

What about the whites?

I'm not eligible for an upgrade until July of 2011 and am interested in getting whatever is going to top the iPhone 4 - hopefully 4G - but I'm also holding out for a white one. I know it's kinda silly - it's not like it won't be in a case anyway - but I want a white one. $400 is a lot of money to fork over if you don't like the available color. I'm hoping they get this ironed out by then.

Wow, I had no idea that people were still waiting this long for the iPhone.
I'm not even sure if the international rollout of the iPhone is complete. Certainly the iPad has not reached all of its intended international markets, and it was released a couple of months before.

If you read any of the iPhone threads in this Q&A forum, you will see a large number of international folks who either still haven't had a chance to buy theirs, or are in an interminably long queue.

Constrained supply has been an ongoing problem as the article notes.

Especially crazy since you're going to put it in a case to improve the antenna reception. Anandtech confirmed iphone 4 in some ways has worse reception compared to 3gs, but an iphone 4 case reduces all those issues.

What about the new model after September free bumper offer to fix the antenna issue?

A colleague ordered his six weeks ago here in Sweden. He just got word that he will probably receive it this week

I would be more upset if the white one was on sale all this time and the black iPhone was still not for sale and no estimate given. The white iPhone looks wacked in comparison to the black iPhone.
