What I find funny is that with AT&T I can have my phone on the desk and it will vary in signal quality. My 3G did this a lot.

Also, remember all the issues with the 3G reception and dropped calls when it first came out? I had it on Edge for the longest time waiting for the software updates.

Hey, I was going to get a case anyways. I also don't death grip my phone when I speak on it, however, I can understand others do and the frustration this may cause.

Verizon option will be here soon...why else do you think AT&T is "offering" such a good price on this phone even to people that bought a 3GS only a year ago. Hook them into another two year contract as soon as they can before their exclusive disappears.

In my case, I will pay the cancellation charge when Verizon gets it.

This thread just got mentioned on the NBC Nightly News with Pete Williams.

MacRumors was named, and a computer screen showed the logo at the top.

Like Joe Biden would say: "this is a huge ********** deal." :)

Ignorance, when not accepted became dangerous. However that is How Men create God.

Only Apple could have a final word.
If the drop is replicated on old iPhones with iOs installed then it is a software thing?

Give it up already. Steve Jobs said that this is the expected behavior of the phone. What more do you need to know?

Mine iPhone 4 works fine. So, the question is, what's wrong with yours? Or, you?

Even apple admits there is a problem, so maybe you should be a little more respectful of those of us who are experiencing the complete inability to use our phones.

Apparently, this problem has plagued more than half of the iPhone4s out there.

The contrast between those experiencing problems and those who don't seems to be sharp - the one I'm using has a consistent, unflagging signal/no discoloration.

Being that close to half of the voters have no problem in these areas, it might be indicative that the reception problem is due a missing component, i.e. insulation, and not to the design itself.

That said, the outlook for a fix seems promising.

Reality. For nearly everyone that gets the new iPhone, it will be the first time they actually spent hours upon hours scrutinizing anything since puberty. Scrutinizing a cell phone will lead to certain obvious discoveries one may have not noticed previously about cell phones because prior to this event all cell phones sucked ass and weren't worth scrutinizing. Everyone is so enamored by this thing they can't even think straight. Some poor souls are convinced there is something defective with their phone or the design, basing all judgement on a cell phone exhibiting expected and known behavior and the multitudes across the internet reporting cell phones exhibiting expected and known behavior. It's astonishing, the way bull spreads. There are people posting here that would bet their lives that there is a design flaw, because "look, see, when I do this, look what happens!!" failing to see how they and everyone else reporting this behavior is missing pretty much any evidence that would support the claim that their phone or the design is defective. So... which is more likely... if you buy an iPhone, you instantly are a expert radio engineer and know exactly what you are talking about because you saw it with your own eyes? or iPhone causes delusions? I think we know which is reality.

Did I write this? Very well put……...

LOL typical homer response... "mine is fine so there isnt a problem u must be doing something wrong."

Just because not every iphone can replicate the problem doesnt mean it isnt a design flaw. remember the red rings fiasco for microsoft? MS homers tried to downplay the issue just like how u are doing it right now... eventually MS admitted it was a design flaw months after denying there was any problem at all.
