I still have mine. It boots up and runs well!
Still have mine too (and every iPhone I’ve ever owned, starting with the one I bought on July 29, 2007)! Still the best form factor of any iPhone*.

*Note: Unfortunate that I need to explain this, but this is my opinion based on my experience. Please don’t bother trying convincing me otherwise with “evidence.”

I go back and forth between this and the space grey 5s. That phone was so damn pretty with its chamfered edge. Honorable mention goes to the Darth Vader iPhone 5.

I like the iPhone 5 era design as well.

Overall design ranking for me is when it comes to the Flagship iPhone:

1. iPhone 4 era
2. iPhone X era( I am lumping the 11 Pro into the X era as it is the same design overall)
3. iPhone 5 era
4. Original iPhone
5. iPhone 6 era( again lumping in the 7. I will also lump in the 8 as it shares the overall design with a glass back instead)
6. iPhone 3G( plastic back, worst iPhone design for me)

Too bad his last iPhone unveiling was among the worst. Between the huge green spot in the middle of the camera and the antenna issues it was not a great device. Sure the device itself looked really great and the Retina display was really neat but aside from that it was kinda bad. I remember a month or so after I got it I was at my wife’s family reunion and pulled it out of my pocket burning hot. It was jumping around between a number of cell towers freaking out.

Here is an example of how bad the camera was:

Looks so outdated, at the time though it was the best looking phone one could get.
For my money, it's still my favorite iPhone design. Felt so solid, didn't need a case (except that it needed case because of the "you're holding it wrong" fiasco.)

Still the peak of iPhone design IMHO. It wasn't until the iPhone X where an iPhone design has come close to matching the iPhone 4 era for me.

I'd argue that the peak of iPhone design was the slate black iPhone 5. Apple hasn't managed to recapture that svelte dark look ever since.

I remember all the intrigue with the guy who found the phone and how Apple got the SFPD to make a home visit, etc. Ah, those were the days. Smartphones have plateaued and are firmly in maturity. Things like 5G aren’t going to reinvigorate purchases. It’s basically the same thing but faster and only spec focused people care about it.

I was skeptical of the change in aspect ratio, but once I actually held the iPhone 5, that to me was the peak. I really don't need a new iPhone but if they come out with a bezel-less design close to the size I don't know that I could resist. I love how similar my iPad Pro is too.

Does anyone remember Steve Jobs introducing iChat AV with Phil Schiller and Al Gore and Bertrand Serlet and even with Madonna?
Messages, aside from being roughly universal across devices/platforms, is a step back from iChat, which at its peak could do easy screen sharing and great cross-service compatibility. Imagine if iMessage/Facetime could still integrate with other chat/video chat services as well.

Still my favorite iPhone design. This years will top it because it's a mix of the 4 and X.

Such a beautiful phone that really just melded with a great OS. When Steve introduced how it would do multitasking...I clapped. My kid has my 4S. Still has iOS 6 on it. Simpler times...

Does this mean that FaceTime is now ready to be released as an open protocol?
