Oh that's even better then. I'm just going off my experience which may not be the same as others. The guy opened the reservations site, asked me to input my Apple ID and password, selected the 16GB and confirmed. *shrug*i didnt have to put my apple ID or password?
the guy on the phone took my name and my email address and the phone i wanted and that was it, got an email 5 minutes later.
im still waiting for mine. its killing me!

yea sorry i just realised you did it in store, mine was over the phone. for a minute i was worried id need my Apple ID or something but as long as i get the confirmation email im happy.
Yeah i went into store and added my name to the reserve list instore at meadowhall mate.

Just wanted to post that today I rang the Apple Store @ Grand Arcade in Cambridge to ask how long I would have to wait to receive an iPhone once I had reserved it. The guy on the other end of the phone told me that they are no longer taking reservations as stock would be widely available within the next couple of days. I asked him to repeat it which he did. He said that stock levels would be returning to normal and as before with the other iPhones you will be able to go into the store and buy there and then. Looking forward to picking one up at the weekend.

this is great news, however i assume they will be finishing the list of reservations first before they become available? (FYI i have a 32GB on reservation there)

Anyway, they're no longer accepting reservations either online or instore, as the genius said they are making the phone available for general purchase presumably on a first come first served basis. He said they should have some stock this weekend, but it's best to ring ahead.

this is what i am afraid of. is there anyway they can check where you are on the list and therefore prioritise you to pick one up?
i can also confirm that the apple store in the grand arcade in cambridge are no longer taking reservations, rang them this morning and they stopped taking them on Monday. Their stock levels are 1 or 2 days away from being normal, thus being able to walk in and get one.
I hope Apple Stores have constant stock by the end of August. I have a 5 day trip to London and I MUST get one.
When I've asked before they've always been able to confirm I'm on the list but not my position in it. Now it's just ring and check. Hopefully if they've got some in when I ring they'll be able to put one aside for me until I get there but I didn't ask about that today.

Some stock at Milton Keynes today for walk-ins!
Yesterday I was told by the person on the phone at the Apple store, Milton Keynes, that I had been sent the email I never received to pick up my phone on 30 July. I asked what the position was on stocks. They told me they hoped to have stocks for walk-ins very soon.
Today I rang up and they had some in stock so I went over and at long last I've bought my 16GB iPhone 4! It's a bit of a journey and they couldn't put one aside but she said they had several and I went straight over. Screen looks amazing, very crisp. Not as white as the last one but I didn't notice until I put the two together. Can't tell much about anything else as I'm waiting for the service to be swopped over.

Could you ask if they know when the stock would be widely available for walk-in purchases or if they think in 3 weeks that would be possible? it would be great if I could just do that. Thanks!
