Enjoy, and let me know if you have any problems.

While I appreciate your help, I find the overlay method to produce slightly washed out logos, the way I did I was to start off like you said, wood with logo layer on top, I then added another wood layer, set to 50ish% opacity and set to 'darken' to bring out the grain, I then added another wood layer, and used the select colour range tool to select anything of a dark black, inverted the selection and deleted, lowrred the opacity a bit as to not cover the logo too heavily, and then to make another image all I had to do was make a new logo layer in the middle, and hide the last one, I thought it gave some good results without being as washed out,

A downside to my method is that the image is darker than the original wood, maybe there is a compromise in the middle of our methods, but when I did it it was late and I was just trying it out, dunno if I will bother with more though lol

You say they my method produces "washed out logos", but isn't that sort of the point? Have you ever stained or painted real wood? You want the grain to show through. Yes, the color of the logo won't be the same as it was originally, but the only way to combat that is to boost the saturation before you overlay, but that can cause imperfections within the solid areas to pop up.
By using the fade or opaque tools you create the same degradation of color, and as you said, your way still causes issues with the wood background.

So to summarize my point, isn't slightly washing out the color of the logo sort of a nice side effect, since that is pretty much what happens when you paint over wood (assuming the paint is thin enough to allow the wood grain to show through a bit)? Isn't using overlay the most realistic method?

I'd like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year's.

Didn't check the thread before you asked did you? I know for a fact there are Nascar one's already made up because they are right here:

Check the thread next time, and if you want something specific you can provide the image you want. I'm not going on a wild goose chase finding it for you.

I did check the thread wiseguy...

There is not an offical NASCAR logo here. I see the NFL, NBA, MLB. Not the offical NASCAR logo. Which is what I asked...

I had seen the Dale Sr & Dale Jr. logos. And the #20 Tony Stewart. He doesn't even drive the #20 anymore.

I love asking a question and then dealing with jerks.

Most of you idiots reading these boards just love to "jump" down someone's throat. Which is why no one likes to ask a question.

Did you enjoy it?

If anyone cares to help...

From the first page of the thread there was a series of links to college team themes. I loved the Alabama ones, especially the elephant behind the large A.

However when I link them to send from there, it doesnt seem to attach correctly. Is there a way to make that one as a thread response here? I have no trouble sending those.

Didn't seem like it since there were Nascar wallpapers up and you acted like they didn't exist.

Also if you had read the thread like you claimed, you would have noticed I posted about three times that any images you want put on the wood background have to be at least 500 pixels wide, otherwise they will look like **** on a 640x960 wallpaper.

Argh; Mr. Incognito is not a juke box: "put in a quarter and out comes a tune." Give him a break.

I did the same thing early on by posting an image that was way too small, and he politely asked me to read through the thread and 'get with the program'. I complied and thanked him. In the process, he's indirectly helped me hone my PS chops.

No biggie -- how can you take these kinds of things personally on a public forum!?

Thx, BTW, Incognito.

And... for those who just can't wait for this magic VZ iPhone, have at it.

Thanks for the support.

@iphonewb You're Welcome. Let me know if there's anything you want specifically.

@iBark Thanks for backing me up. And I like the initiative there... Nice way of welcoming the Verizon folks to the thread.

Here's my own little creation to mark the same event:

Hope these work?

Also, having a hard time finding a big enough image of the #18.

Thanks,
