Where's my proof? It isn't that hard to tell that the material is hard plastic. You can tell by how its shaped and how it fits around the headphone jack. Also keep in mind your argument was trying to prove that your opinion is somehow superior to mine, not the other way around. ;);)

Oh and even if the case WAS silicon and rubber, the buttons would still already be pushed down. There's logic for you, this case is retarded.

lol, how are you failing to understand the simple concept?

look, the green case on the left is not the same as the one on the right. the left picture is hard plastic all the way around. The right picture is what *looks* like hard plastic with silicone sides, or at least rubber. It is not plastic as you would need force to depress the material against the volume buttons in order for them to work. Hard plastic would not achieve this.

just because the case is silicone or rubber does not mean the buttons will already be pushed down, how is that logic? i used a silicone skin on my 3GS which covered the volume rocker without any risk of the buttons 'already being pushed down'.

your responses are mind boggling and lack any form of common sense.

He guys, I can't remember what happened after the announcement last year, does anyone remember how long after announcement til availability in Canada?

Thanks
The 3GS was announced on June 8 and available on June 19, both in the U.S. and in Canada.

BTW, for better or for worse, I suspect it will be calld the iPhone HD due to its high res screen.

Eww. With the really square design of the 4th gen iPhone, it's gonna make cases for it look really thick. No curves to fool the actual thickness.

I like the 4th gen design on its own but damn I think I won't be using a case for it.

Lack of common sense is sadly a very common occurrence here at the MacRumors forum.

Oh my gosh...dude just give it a rest, it's a freaking chinese produced case. No matter what it's made out of the point is mute. Let it go!

These cases are indeed ugly but they do provide functionality. I kept dropping my iPod touch (or it would slip out of a shirt pocket) until I caved in and got a silicone case for it.

Ugly, but effective.

Remember: "De gustibus non est disputandum." ;)
I would buy one of those leather sleeves. Looks much better and provides protection as well.

as of now I won't be buying it... Unless another company makes a case that fixes Apple's mistake it seems uncomfortable to hold for long periods.

I'm going to laugh pretty hard when it turns out the design for the iphone 4G turns out to not be what everyone thought based on the prototype photos that have been floating around. Although the chances of that at this point are pretty slim. I just thought it was weird that companies are making these designs already unless they were given design specs of the iphone 4G in advance but I somehow doubt that, given Apples history of keeping everything secret.

I can't help but think that seeing the video of the new iPhone internals, Apple is setting some new standards in construction. So far, appears to be very well made. Yes- I love Android, but have you touched an Incredible lately? Not so incredible.

I really, really hoped for a decent Android phone for AT&T by now- especially given the rumors of the various phones slated to release- but seeing this is swaying me back to Apple. I have a 3G and had grown tired of OS 3.x and I was looking for a new experience. But now that Apple has integrated multitasking, video (rumored), video chat and a higher resolution screen, I think I might stay with Apple. Enough to overlook the boring lockscreen and lack of notifications (could be rectified with the new OS and new phone). Looking at how well constructed this phone will be, the purported specs (yes, I know- a lot needs to be confirmed by WWDC), and the use of high quality materials will mean that this phone will be special.

I know that some of us here can look past sacrifices in build quality for the perfect OS, but there is something to be said about heft and high quality materials. I think I am willing to sacrifice a few conveniences for a handset that will make it through my monumental lapses in coordination. In that, my 3G has done better than I ever thought it could, though I did replace the ear speaker.

I've played with an EVO 4G and that's an incredible phone. Great OS, great big beautiful screen, large and easy to use keyboard, and great call quality, but I think this new iPhone will be an excellent competitor on its own. The 960x640 screen, fluid OS, excellent construction will make for a great experience. WWDC can't get here fast enough.

It wont be called 3Gv or 4G or 4GS. It will most likly be called iPhone HD (for its high res screen and sharp design) or even iPhoneX

Why do people keep think it will be called 4Gs? S stands for speed, and its no brainer this device will be faster then the ones before it. 4G = 4G network,. I think the phone will be 4G ready, but not standard

Two things:

  1. Apple put the screws on the new Iphone just to piss people off.
  2. It's hilarious that there are 7 pages of arguments over a CRAPPY *rendering* of a *really crappy* case for the next Iphone.

Get a grip, people.

Gizmodo might be persona non grata at this event. Or more likely Mr. Chen will be.

I would imagine he won't be there...but I'm sure Gizmodo will be there in some fashion. I'm wondering if Steve will make any mention of that whole fiasco or not, I doubt he will acknowledge it at all.

It is patently clear that the slits are in the sides of the iPhone so that more dust and small dirt particles can make their way into the innards and onto the screen of my new iPhone.

3GV wouldn't be entertained as a possibility as it doesn't suggest a big enough leap from the previous model.

Exactly. unless they dont want to sell anything a new name is in place.

If you took time to read the first 7 pages, then you would have seen my post regarding the screws ARE ALREADY ON THE IPHONE 3G AND 3GS.

Apple doesn't do stuff to "piss" people off. the "piss off" people are those who dont like change.
