It is patently clear that the slits are in the sides of the iPhone so that more dust and small dirt particles can make their way into the innards and onto the screen of my new iPhone.

wanky, it's patently clear that you haven't noticed the rubber that fills the area between the seams and thus should prevent dust/dirt from invading and polluting the screen of your lovely new iPhone.

Also what is with everyone complaining about screws. Do you even own an iPhone? Do you look at it? IT HAS SCREWS ON THE BOTTOM.

So which are you assuming here, the case is rubber or that the buttons protrude? You keep on changing your story, again, you have no information. You are assuming multiple things and stating it as facts, post to a link that shows exactly what the case is or don't respond.

Completely agree, and totally simple to understand.

How are you failing to realize such a simple concept? The buttons protrude from the side of the device. If the case wasn't made of a flexible material, like rubber or silicon, how would you be able to depress the buttons? Hard plastic would prevent you from being able to press the buttons because the material wouldn't allow for it. You don't need official "information," just use common sense. If you put a hard plastic case over your TV's remote, could you press any of the buttons down?

Lol? That's what I'm saying, the case is retarded because according to those pictures it looks like a hard plastic case over the buttons so you can't press them. This guy has made two assumptions, one of which is that its a soft material and the other is that the buttons stick out. Make up your god damn mind or post some information on what it's actual made of and how it functions.

As someone mentioned above there are cases with camera holes for iPod Touches, it's not something new to have a case with the wrong or missing functionality.

You're assuming the case is hard plastic as well. This entire argument is ludicrous.

I'm going to laugh pretty hard when it turns out the design for the iphone 4G turns out to not be what everyone thought based on the prototype photos that have been floating around. Although the chances of that at this point are pretty slim. I just thought it was weird that companies are making these designs already unless they were given design specs of the iphone 4G in advance but I somehow doubt that, given Apples history of keeping everything secret.

Not true at all. iPod nano cases were leaked because Apple supplied them w/ specs to get cases ready for the launch of the device.

I love that you called him/her wanky :D

Seems to me that those seams are probably not what they seem. I like what I read somewhere in this thread that they could be an attachment spot. Maybe for, I don't know, a gaming controller add on or something?

Screws

First to be clear - I don't give a flying fig about the screws on the new iPhone! Screws or not - I'm getting one.

However, I do own an iPhone [original 2G Edge] and it does not have any screws on it at all, so you can't really say ALL iPhones have screws, they don't.

The original one, IMO, was much better made, using higher quality materials than the subsequent G3 and G3S with their crack-prone, plastic backs - but I would imagine it cost a shed-load to produce, so Apple made it cheaper. This new design seems to be a return to a higher quality product [which is what Apple is famous for] but with an ease of assembly, so its not costing them to make it.

Remember: "De gustibus non est disputandum." ;)

dude, you're smart enough to quote latin, but not smart enough to NOT DROP YOUR TOUCH?!?!?

priorities man... priorities.

and hey, maybe stop putting it into your shirt pocket.

i guess these fumble-fingered man-children are why they sell so many of those ugly cases....

"First to be clear - I don't give a flying fig about the screws on the new iPhone! Screws or not - I'm getting one."

Agree. I mean....let's face it - Apple selling 10M phones a quarter isn't based on whether or not the phone has two screws showing.

I personally don't use a case or cover for my phone, but everyone gets all wound up about the appearance of the phone and at the end of the day 9 out 10 people will probably slap a case over it anyway. People buy the iPhone for the OS and Apple's kick-a$$ 'eco-system' that's in place.

Similar to ipad?

The side by side with the iPad is to show how similar they look?

I don't see it.

I like the looks of them both really, but I don't see that they are similar at all.
One has a seriously beveled edge, and the other does not. The aluminum doesn't even look similar in color. They do both have an iPod connector slot and the speaker/mic holes look similar - that's about it.

I prefer my shirt pocket to a pants pocket because the headphone cord has less chance to get snared on something and I'm certainly not so dorky that I'd wear the thing on my belt.

Regardless, with a silicone case, everything is solved. My priority is the functionality of the iPod touch, not its appearance. It's not like I'm impressing anyone with the damned thing anyhow. Besides, no one sees how ugly the case is when it's in my shirt pocket. ;)

I'm still wondering why there are "seems" in the aluminium (aluminum) casing.

Could it be these seems have lights behind them to alert the user about waiting SMS when in sleep mode for example?

Mmm, smells like bull ****.

Obviously I know what needs to be done in place for them to work, or again I wouldn't have commented on it. Pay attention so I don't have to repeat myself, class is in session.

I'm assuming things that I can physically see and differentiate. You are basing things that aren't concrete and you provide no evidence for. First your buddy thinks the buttons have caps on them then he thinks that the case is made of soft material. The side you are defending holds no grounds. That case does not look like silicon and it doesn't look like rubber. What is hard plastic? Plastic that snaps and doesn't bend.

It looks just like the iSkin solo, which is a flexible plastic/rubber.

If you took time to read the first 7 pages, then you would have seen my post regarding the screws ARE ALREADY ON THE IPHONE 3G AND 3GS.

Apple doesn't do stuff to "piss" people off. the "piss off" people are those who dont like change.
Lighten up. It was a joke. Read it again. It's pretty clear I'm saying the screws are a non-issue. You honestly believe someone thinks Apple put screws on their flagship portable device to make people angry? Come on.

And it's obvious I "took the time to read the first 7 pages" because that's how I know there are 7 pages of arguing about a crappy looking case.

Wow, this place it tense lately. Everyone needs a massage.

It wont be called 3Gv or 4G or 4GS. It will most likly be called iPhone HD (for its high res screen and sharp design) or even iPhoneX

Why do people keep think it will be called 4Gs? S stands for speed, and its no brainer this device will be faster then the ones before it. 4G = 4G network,. I think the phone will be 4G ready, but not standard

Uh no. I'm pretty sure it'll be called iPhone Speed-bump.

I'll be waiting to hear your FUD. Hope you enjoy looking for a clear silicon case that looks like the one in this thread or coming up with more hybrid material claims that hold no ground.

ideal-case's own website has examples of this soft plastic/rubber material. Oh and look, they've posted new pictures of the iPhone 4 cases and they sure don't look like hard plastic to me. Look at the way the bottom of the purple case is curved. Let me guess, it's just broken and that's why it's bent, right? Those don't look crystal clear anymore, and the clear ideal-case iphone 3G/S case to the left is an example of a soft plastic/silicon case that's nearly as clear, covers the buttons, and fits around the headphone jack the same way.

If Apple doesn't produce anything spec-wise to wow me I'm considering getting a 3GS or switching to a different cell phone.

anything spec wise over the current 3gs is worth jumping for -

really - do u think there are many surprises left?

u will buy it -
