Color correction or not this is really good footage, in fact this would be really good footage for a thousand dollar camcorder. Cant wait to get my hands on this thing!

I won't be surprised if in the near future Hollywood movies are shot and edited entirely on iPhones.

Stunning quality.

What difference does it make if it's raw or not? The most important thing is how detailed it is. That's the whole point of HD. DEFINITION. Unless you're poor, you've got some kind of computer that you can use to edit the video anyway if you want it to be super saturated or whatever.

Wow. If this is the attitude of the general population here, this place is garbage. Get some class.

I doubt it's been corrected much at all. That footage looks perfectly believable for an iphone. My 720p iphone 4 footage isn't much less saturated in similar light. All you have to do is touch a light suject to get the camera to underexpose by a hair and pop!

It was probably mounted on a steadicam smoothee. I have one and could have easily duplicated any of the shots. I am a professional still photographer, and not a videographer, but to our friend who is "in the business" (not sure what business that is)...

A - You should be fully aware that the look of that footage is typical of devices that increase saturation, contrast and sharpness by default. It's obviously slightly underexposed to get the colors to pop. There's no reason to think an iphone couldn't and wouldn't produce these results in camera.

B - I've met a lot of guys "in the business" that don't seem to know their aperture from their ******* so if that's your only credential I'd stop throwing it around like it means something. All I take from it is that you're trying to speak with authority when you clearly have none.

when you make videos then you can speak, your a photographer and dissapointingly you have failed to spot the enhancements that were made to this video, it was CLEARLY edited, dont be a buffoon and argue with me accept the fact that what im saying has a foundation of truth, its true i dont know if it has been edited, but my friend i have been trained to know when/how/what a film has been edited with, photo's and videos are two different things, just like motorbikes and cars, the iphone may have indeed produced the video but then so can any camera, its what you do with the image that counts...

No need to be rude. You're reading what I wrote, so you must have a computer, so I wasn't referring to you. The people I'm referring to are the people that can't read what I wrote anyway.

One of the things I like about the new camera is the video stabilization! That is a HUGE deal. It will make creating videos be way better since it won't be shaky anymore.

----------

Any news on switching between 720p and 1080p?

Maybe you can't change it from the Camera app itself, but you probably can on the Settings app.

Can it also do 720p 60fps. Most 1080p cams have this option, 60fps is much better for action video.

the iPhone 4 has great video but the stabilization feature makes this a winner (yeah its also 1080p but stabilization trumps that :D )

You can tell the phone was rigged up for the balloon video but that short bike ride sample on the apple site shows the in-phone stabilization works pretty well.

I still wish the stillcamera part had more dynamic range and a wider angle lens (30mm equivalent at least)

Now the question becomes ........ 32gb or spring for the 64gb?

How much larger is the 1080p file size over 720p given the same scene and same length of time?

il be the first to dissapoint you all, your videos will look nothing like these, why you ask?, well my friends simply because of two things, it was a nice bright day, wheres a night shot? second of all the white balance had been set and there most definitly would have been colour correction on final cut or something, simply put this video is yes a video from the iphone 4s, however its not raw footage, i know this because i produce e-learning videos, this is a nice video and from a phone it certainly is good once its been produced... so dont be fooled into thinking this is raw footage.

i can bet you $10 its not edited or anything.

we will see what everyone thinks next week when they get their phones. video on this will be amazing

Amazing video, it was edited using iMovie only. It's a good demo video, shows what the iPhone camera + iMovie can do.

Stunning video quality.
But you do have to remember this is outdoors on a sunny day.
This is an example of the best this video can be.
Now I'm curious as to what it would look like indoors at night with regular lighting.

fanboi rocks, "Omg no iphone 5, S2 here i comes". The next day, "4S is awesome, huge upgrade. This change the world, again."

just about everything looks like crap lol

This footage was shot on the new 4s but not by hand alone.

Check this video of a device that lets you pan like in the video.

I don't know if this video has been edited but I reckon the 1080p quality will be great on the 4s. Judging by someone's comment on 1mb a second, it's 6gb for an hour of recording which is not to bad because I guess not many people will need to shoot more than this before syncing the video and then removing it for the space.

If there is any proof of innovation in the 4S, it's the camera. Simply brilliant.

That's absolutely amazing for a phone if it's real. I'm gonna wait until there's some footage shot by 3rd parties to make a real judgement, these clips seem like they were done in ideal conditions, but real life rarely offers that.

Ok, so you know software has been used to spice up the video.

What's your proof that it was software in Final Cut and not software built into the phone's camera app? We know it can do stabilization, after all. Who's to say it doesn't have other auto-tweeks in there?

Fact is, none of us know anything until next week. Don't act like using Final Cut makes you a psychic when it comes to knowing what's in the un-released iPhone. That doesn't give you magical insight into what the camera app does to the footage.
