Mac Otakara reports that it has received information indicating that Apple will be introducing the iPad 3 and "iPhone 4S" sometime early next month, with availability set for "late October". The source offered no information, however, on plans for the iPhone 5, although rumors have suggested that Apple will introduce both a revamped iPhone 5 and tweaked iPhone 4 next month.
According to sources, iPhone 4S which is based on iPhone 4(CDMA) and new iPad will be started produce since 1st week in September and will be shipped in late October.
The "iPhone 4S" name is an unofficial one that has been used in a variety of reports to refer to a new iPhone based largely on and appearing nearly identical to the current iPhone 4, but offering upgraded internal components. What has come to be known as the iPhone 5 is a more thorough redesign which has surfaced in case designs reportedly based on leaked design specs.

There had been some confusion about whether Apple would be releasing an "iPhone 4S" or "iPhone 5" this year, with some suggesting that the confusion stemmed from Apple testing iPhone 5 components within iPhone 4 enclosures for secrecy. But others have claimed that Apple will indeed be introducing both the iPhone 5 and a tweaked iPhone 4 as rumors of a low-cost iPhone have continued to swirl.

Apple has of course traditionally kept its older models around as entry-level options, as evidenced Apple's continued sale of an 8 GB iPhone 3GS model, but the volume of rumors suggest that Apple may be doing a bit more tweaking to its low-end offerings this time around. Such low-cost models are said to be key for penetrating the prepaid markets prevalent in a number of large countries around the world.

Mac Otakara has offered some accurate information in the past, and notably was the first source to pinpoint some of the features of the iPad 2 as case designs began leaking out. A number of potential dates for a media event introducing the iPhone 5 and perhaps the iPad 3 have been suggested, with early reports of a September timeframe being countered early last week with a report from All Things Digital claiming that the device won't be available until October. The latest rumor has, however, claimed a September 7th media event, although an iPhone 5 introduction at that time to be followed with a launch as far off as late October would be outside Apple's usual gap between introduction and availability.

One rumor says the A6 is behind schedule and will undoutedly delay the iPad 3 release NEXT YEAR then a rumor a few hors later says it will be here in October.

Gotta love rumors.

Great news. I'll buy an iPad 2 a week or so before the conference. Then if they announce the iPad 3 at the conference I'll return the iPad 2.

I'm hoping they do announce the iPad 3. Retina display, and possibly a faster clocked A5.

So what does this mean for us people on verizon? Will they let us trade in our fairly new ip4 for the new one? Or atleast give us a credit??

If they come out with that iPhone4/3GS hybrid and call it a 4S I will be so dissapointed. =(

I want the Mac Rumors mock up!

Maybe the A6 is meant for the iPad 4? Apple moved the release cycle of the iPhone to this new Sept/Oct timeframe. Why can't they change the iPad's release cycle as well?

I really hope there is a good update in the new iphone. As a 3gs owner that isnt crazy about the look of the 4 I was hoping for more from the 5 =[

I'll be disappointed if they keep the iPhone 4 design. The aluminum-backed mockups sure are purty.

true, but aluminum is very bad at passing radio signals, which is why many iDevices with an aluminum back have a rectangle of black plastic bitten into it so that it can actually pick up a decent wifi signal.

Bad move by apple if they release a new iPad. I got my iPad 2 a couple months ago. Well if they do, I can sell this one probably for more than retail due to jailbreak and saved SHSH blobs.

That's a pretty dynamite idea, not gonna lie!

Also, hoping for a Sprint release! (I can dream ;))

I love rumors about iphones just as much as the next but seriously, these iPad3 rumors are getting annoying.

A6 just started trial periods not to mention apple is still leading in the tablet market why would they rush out another product.

And this iCloud device seems damn near impossible as to apps take up a lot of space apple not to mention MUSIC and VIDEOS

I find it hard to believe that Apple will have had the iPhone 4 on the market for 15-16 months and is only planning a minor release to iPhone 4S, but 6 months later is ready to release a new iPad that warrants a number upgrade to iPad 3.

I feel like there is way too much evidence to the contrary at this point to suggest that iPhone 4s is going to be a reality. If it is a reality, then it will be the new low-cost option we've been hearing about. It makes too much sense to have the latest model named "iPhone 5" since it will be the 5th generation iPhone and released alongside iOS 5. See a pattern?

As for the iPad rumors, I just don't see it happening. We've been over this a thousand times recently, but the most compelling argument against is that the current A5 chip may have issues pushing a 9.7" retina display. Recent news around the A6 sheds some light on the plans, IMO.

These rumors are so off base, idk if I can even consider them rumors. Just junk...

Why would apple release an iPad 3 w/ stellar IPad 2 sales? They wouldn't.

Why would they wait a year and a half to release a souped up iPhone 4. They wouldn't.

I'd like to murder the analyst or source who decided to use '4S'. We've gone to sequential numbering now. Even if they slapped a hello kitty sticker on the iphone 4 and called it the iphone 5, it's the freaking iphone 5.

If the iPad 3 is coming. Where is the big order for Retina displays? If not, what did they actually upgrade???

Minus the iPad, which houses it underneath the plastic :apple: logo on the back ;)

iPad 3 in October... another stupid rumor...

i can feel the EPIC FAIL in 2 months...

can't wait to get there to laugh out loud...

Wow the tablet scene is getting quite busy that Apple can do to refreshes in the same year. I think that they must be betting heavily that the tablet is a form factor that will have lasting changes on the consumer electronic market...i'm not sold on a major refresh this soon. But then again...

But Steve said 2011 is the year of the iPad 2.

Yup, and it's going to stay that way.

Why will you be disappointed if they keep the iPhone 4 design? They kept the iPhone 3gs around when the iPhone 4 came out, it only makes sense they will keep the iPhone 4 around when they announce the iPhone 5, and if they give the iPhone 4 a spec boost and call it the iPhone 4s it is just an added bonus. My 2¢ :apple:

With names, I figured the next one would be 4S or whatever letter, 4GS when they put 4G into it, then finally iphone 5 whenever they change the case again.
