Signal is not the problem. I have signal and stuff but it's just busted. My AT&T pay as you go phone works miles better than the 4S, the only time the PAG phone dropped a call was when I dropped it and the battery fell out. It is most definitely the 4S since it's happening to a lot of people I know with this new phone, on ALL the carriers that it is provided under, in many locations. Like I've said I've used this phone in about 100 miles in any given direction both on Sprint and AT&T and still no joy with better service. Detroit, Toledo, and Louisville should all have pretty damn good tower coverage so I'm pretty sure the 4S is just sucky sucky. The 4 gave me not too many problems and was faster in every sense of the carrier's abilities than my past 3 4S's have been, and the one on Sprint.

Go get yourself an Android on Sprint and enjoy!

Buh-bye.

Been a happy AT&T iPhone customer for 3 years. No problems. In fact, I had Verizon before switching to AT&T and I had a lot of dropped calls with Verizon. I was just in a bad area for Verizon.

Why do you post here? Go to some android forums!!!!
:D

I have the Sprint 4S too and that thing is faster than my AT&T for sure. As for calls the phone drops them regardless of carrier, tested on Verizon, AT&T, and Sprint. I think it's funny honestly. failPhone is fail. iCloud sucks too. EVERYTHING is turned off but I'm always out of storage. There is I think 2 pdfs in the whole damn system and my backups are always like 6+ GB for no reason. I have 5GB for free that I can't use. Thanks Crapple. Here's my data speeds that I've been getting. My iPhone 4 was way faster

Sorry, but I refuse to trust results from speedtest.net. How can you trust a supposed speed test when the app downloads ads while performing the test? That would seem to affect the results, no? That app routinely tells me that I get about 0.5Mbps down in my office, both on my old 4 and my 4S. And yet I can feel a definite speed improvement on my 4S (these results were across multiple servers, all within 300 miles or less).

As for your specific issue, what sort of area do you live in? Is it possible that the number of people using AT&T nearby has increased in the last two weeks?

I went from AT&T to Verizon for the 4s and wow is all I can say. My experience with the iPhone 4s has been the best experience I have had with an iPhone. Not a single dropped call and I've had it since launch day. Drove back and forth to Asheville, NC which is in the mountains and I had service and 3G data speeds to and from. I think it's possible that some phones "just work" better than others but the biggest problem you have is AT&T. What's the use of having all that speed if you can't use it because the network sucks or it's just plain over used seeing as how the majority of iPhone users are with At&T. My experience is a night and day difference and right now I could not be any happier with my 4s or Verizon. The combination of the two are giving me the best wireless experience of my life.

As much as they are the evil empire, I have not had one dropped call on Verizon.

That being said I am moving the family to Sprint. Verizon is too expensive now.

If you wanna get 4 lines unlimited mobile to any carrier's mobile, text, web, and 1600 minutes to land lines for a sweet $180 let me know. There is a way to do that :D;) Got the deal when we moved to Sprint and got all iPhone 4S on each line.

It's the only reason I'm staying with Sprint. Otherwise I'd move back to AT&T or go to Verizon.

Take it back and get a different kind of phone. You and these forums will win!

Wow, laying it on just a bit thick...

Lol I guess. I'm not really here to complain I was just sharing my experiences so far with the new phone. Y'all are the ones harassing me about it.

I'm not trying to say the phone is horrible I'm just disappointed. Especially when a GS II on the same carrier, side by side holds and keeps a signal better than the 4S and GPS didn't get me lost. Defunct phones, 3 in a row, I'll believe it but not more than this phone just really isn't real world friendly to anyone I've known it to be. Great iPod, Movie, and decent web browser though and camera. Who knows maybe I'll just keep it for everything but the phone part because that all works flawlessly. I love the experience in iOS 5.

It's a shame that a $900 phone drops more calls than the last iPhone 4. I have lost 73 to be exact phone calls since the release of this phone. This phone has slow internet anywhere I'm at. I've gone all over in a +100 mile radius and still no change. iPhone 4S, this disappoints everyone, again. Not complaining about it really but it's just sad that I can't call people half the time, or during the call it just "call failed" 's on me and then won't call the person back. Even tested it and the call wouldn't go through near the tower with the person I'm calling sitting by me. I'm not the only one thank god. My friends have the same problem, a few of which are 1200 to 2000 miles away from me so it can't be local. It can only be the work of a company that refuses everything but what they can take that is popular and getting outdated and call it new. Apple is the new Vegan cult version of technology I swear.

Understand you are venting some frustration, however it is not the worst phone ever, and their sales show the exact opposite. That being said there are times where the SIM cards go bad and that could very well be causing your issues. My son has a 4 and a little while ago he was getting texts late like 20 minutes after I sent them, his phone would rarely ring, but went to VM so I was frustrated thinking he was ignoring me. According to several AT&T reps I have dealt with all said it has been common especially with the certain phones where the SIM cards goes bad. I would try that since it is simple to do, and could very well be the root of your issues, also another poster said take it to Apple, but I would try the SIM card first.

It's a new sim everytime is it not? I think the real problem is I'm holding it wrong. But when I held it differently someone ran up and tapped me on the shoulder and it dropped and broke when I turned around. I thought it was gorilla glass?. I think I'm gonna get rid of the metal band and replace it with plastic

Wow finally someone on this forum that addresses me without harassment. I knew I couldn't be the only one. I'm so glad someone here finally understands what I'm talking about and is at least trying to cope with me. Unlike everyone else who tells me I'm just doing it wrong

Dropped calls, horrible battery life and echo from headphones. WTF????

Yea for some reason this phone has battery life that sucks, even in airplane mode, can't hold a call for an hour, and echos back what I say when I talk to someone regardless of audio output and what they do on their end. I love it. This is the best disappointPhone yet

yea man, 5.43mbps really sucks...

dropped calls, lockups, bluetooth is a ****ing joke, random restarts, facetime drops out, battery life is fine for me. as much as i use this thing any phone would blow some OG MUDbone style stuff. constant audio issues (fishbowl mod, robot mod, underwater, echoing.)

yea man, 5.43mbps really sucks...

Yea cuz that is exactly what I'm getting. See you're in michigan on at&t so it's definetely not the network or service. I've been all over the southeast side of this state and no change. I get .80 mbps

**** sales. my phone does this EXACT **** to a T CAPITAL T.

the number of sales are actually what explain why so many phones are having problems...NO manufacturing process is perfect, EVERY PRODUCT will have defective units produced. Some get caught in the factories, others make it out into the wild. Thats why they come with 1 year warranties...you have 1 year to figure out if somethings wrong. Im sorry you're having issues...but thats just the luck of the draw. You have a defective unit. Go get it replaced

Take the number of phones with issues. Divide it by the number they sold...you'll see that their failure rate % is actually very (impressively) low

thats the speed you got at the bottom of your list. i didn't realize it was from last year. I promise this iPhone is capable of MUCH faster speeds than the iPhone 4, and it should at least match it. You have a defective unit it seems. Go get it replaced (they'll do it for free), you'll be much happier

Yea I've already been told I can't replace the phone anymore times. I'm not the only one with these problems, they're crawling all over this site and lots of others. I love this phone I just wish it would work as advertised
