dang. that seems like the last nail in the coffin. Oh well... iPhone 5 in 2012 will be awesome... going to hibernate till then.

Apple has 1 hour to prove me wrong. They better not just announce iPhone 4S with A5 processor. Give me iPhone 5.

Isn't this, among all of the other threads that are filled with confirmations and evidence, enough to tell us all that there will be no iPhone 5?
Sadly, I think we must all lower our very high expectations within this remaining half hour and face the truth.

I know, the truth hurts, but it's better than lies. ;)

Very sad I waited all this time when I could have just gotten an iPhone 4 in January :(

The most disappointing thing to me is they're keeping the same background wallpaper for iOS 5 that they gave us in iOS 4... I mean... doesn't a major iOS update warent a new wallpaper? Like OS X...

And since it is an iPhone 4S, wouldn't an updated wallpaper image be a great way to distinguish it in product photos?

This is not like Apple at all. Maybe they have two models coming the 4S is the lower end model so they mightn't take much pride in that and so it leaked so there keeping the iPhone 5 as a suprize at the event :) That's what I think anyway :)

Fuuuuuuuuuuuug.

Manager over my Apple store is installing the store demos right now.

Pink iPhone 4S (breast cancer research) +$20
white and black also

64gb iPhone 5 coming in January.

Life. Sucks.

You heard it here folks- I tweeted @MacRumors, @arn, @Engadget, @joshuatopolsky, and @verge about it (but didn't get a mention in the official news threads on any of em! A "Thanks to: Abyssgh0st" would have been nice).

Seems like 2/5 have posted about it. Good job Troop on posting those Apple Store server photos.

Looks like no iPhone 5 this year- 4S reigns.

Definitely confirmed now and they are like 16 hours ahead of where I and Apple is based in. It is what it is and not really surprising. Been a little disappointing to just call it 4S. But we will see if there is ONE MORE THING... If there is an iPhone 5, it definitely is one of the best kept secret and Apple just trying to throw us off with just a 4S.

OT, but I stayed at Ginza. Very beautiful district of Tokyo. I would love to go back there and check out that Apple Store.

I'm crushed. I really felt like a redesign was coming...this is difficult to stomach. The only positive here is that I feel no need to upgrade and won't.

Should've just gotten one then! I got my iPhone 4 in July. Why so late? Because thats when I needed to get a new phone.

Next time, just get what you like and enjoy yourself. There is always something newer and better around the corner. Instead of wasting 9 months of your life suffering with some other phone and dreaming of having an iPhone you could have been having fun with an iPhone 4.

Then when it was time to upgrade again or you became eligible, you could have gotten whatever phone was newest then. Maybe the iPhone 5 or the iPhone 6, etc.

Just remember when buying any tech, there is ALWAYS something new around the corner. So just get what makes you happy now. And if you can live 6-9 months without something, maybe it wasn't that necessary to begin with.

I don't see why the form factor/external design is SUCH a big deal for people. Why does it need to be changed? It looks fine the way it is! If it has massively upgraded innards and some killer new features (assistant maybe?) then its not a bad upgrade!

None clamors for a completely redesigned Macbook Air, iMac, or Macbook Pro every time an update is released. Its been expected that for those products there are 3-4 generations of speed bumps and incremental upgrades before a redesign (typically several years pass, and the last iMac redesign wasn't substantially different from the last one either), so why should the iPhone be new EVERY time?

Just to be clear, with or without a redesign, I'm buying this phone. Sorry, but just the processor alone is a BIG upgrade.
