I am done with this company. I am ashamed to have recommended them to my family and friends. I will be getting a new non iPhone and computer. Pathetic.
Have fun using an inferior product.

Star Trek-like implies technology that is hundreds of years more advanced. You know, the kind that runs spacecraft capable of accelerating safely to the speed of light?
Yeah, let's be realistic.
I'm aware, being a psychology student. I know my post has no bearing on whether or not this conversation will stop being ridiculous. Needless to say, it is ridiculous. People are legitimately whining and cursing Apple themselves, like they're a single person.
I find the study of delusional disorders to be more fascinating.
Oh my god I was being an ass. C'mon people, get with it.No. Star Trek like means stuff you used to see on Star Trek and say to yourself "I wonder if one day these will become true".
And yes, Siri is one of those things. Voice control was always a futuristic thing people wondered about and it still has not arrived yet, not fully at least. But Siri is a good enough sneak peak.
Same with video chat. That also was a big part of Star Trek people really craved about.
I dont know whats worse, the fact that I've noticed all the fanboys downvoting negative comments, or the fact that the fanboys themselves seem to think that defending their precious Apple products on an internets forum by clicking little arrows and making nonsensical fanboyish responses is actually achieving something.

So all the times I spoke to text while driving and used voice to search something or a location I was dreaming?
Man I really hope I don't wake up any time soon than.
This voice to text sure is not even a little bit useful huh....
Oh my god I was being an ass. C'mon people, get with it.
However, even if I was taking that person's post seriously, Siri is nowhere near as complex as the AI depicted in Star Trek or other science fiction works of the like. That's not to say at the current exponential growth of technology we won't see it in our lifetime, I just don't think we'll see it any time soon. (As in, the next 2-5 years.)
I'm glad there's a least one human on here who thinks like I do. It is funny, but there's so much to read and it's so fast paced. After a day of class I don't know if I'm up for much more.Well, I think it's still quite amazing to witness the collective hysteria in these forums, or in any online forum for that matter. I actually have fun by simply reading this stuff.
People go great lengths to actually project their own failures and shortcomings on Apple here. And Apple isn't even a person.
I wonder how long would it take for other languages to roll out.
If the shoe fits, wear it. This is an excellent design, and I understand their desire to keep it.
The idiots on here truly amaze me, it's actually really funny to read this whining and complaining. It's a phone. Let me reiterate.
It's a phone.
There are famines, wars, and poverty plaguing this world, and you get upset over a phone? Take all that frustration and go volunteer somewhere, or something. Christ almighty. So you got your panties all in a bunch because Apple made a decision that they felt was the right one. Let them, the adults, make the choices. Apple is a good company, and I feel as though Cook is right for the job.
Trust me when I say that no matter how much whining all of you do on here, this phone will still line the soles of this companies' shoes with platinum.
Oh don't get me wrong, Siri is amazing, and if I could afford to sink money into a new phone I would in a heartbeat. Right now I believe it's ahead of our time.Well, the most comprehensive A.I. which can understand context and talk back is pretty sophisticated right now, but it uses a supercomputer cluster obviously. For that technology to get into a phone, we'll have to wait more than 20 years. But as with Siri, you don't need the horsepower inside phones, since they send the data to a supercomputer, like Siri, and get back the response from there. So for all I know, the happening of that is up to wifi speeds more than mobile CPU's.

I think I mentioned in another post how they're humanizing Apple, which gives me the heebie jeebies. What I meant in my prior post though, is for me (someone interested in social psychology), reading hundreds of forum posts doesn't seem as exciting as going out and studying behavior directly.
Trust me, I understand why those psychologists are taking interest in forums. The deluded "behavior" is astonishing.Oh, certainly. But that's for the psychologist/student to do. I'll just have to get by with this for the time being![]()
It'ld be really cool if Siri can work other apps. I've been waiting a while to get rid of my standalone TomTom and 3G. If I can verbally instruct TomTom to give directions to a contact from my address book, and then play a podcast or something... Will my car be too noisy to allow the 4s to pick up my voice? Could use an in-ear thingybob I suppose, but I'd rather not.
