You guys need to go out and live life, then maybe your phone's OS wouldn't be as boring anymore. But if you spend over 12 hours daily staring at your home screen, then of course it'll get boring.

:D +++ 1000% ;)

Yup ! Try and look up from the screen, and go outside and enjoy life people. I love this thread about "Boring iPhone".. Goodness sakes, its a darn phone. How old are you people anyway ??

I love tech and just got my first iPhone too and came from android. I gotta say though ICS looks awesome. But we are probably 6 months out before it is on any hardware I want. I am not impressed by the Galaxy Nexus. I was looking more for a gs2 with a better screen and it just isn't that.

So for now I am really very happy with my 4S.

I Copied Steve?

I copied steves work?

I cloned steves work?

Who knows. But it's the way of the world. Someone gives somethn to mankind. Another improves upon in. Inventor bitches. Rinse and repeat

iCloud is one of the major features of iOS 5, able to sync calenders and files wirelessly. Google had that feature a long time ago. So don't pretend Apple isn't copying from Google also.

By now anyone who knows tech shouldn't still be arguing about who invented what. Apple has a track record of making many ideas much better if not perfecting them, IE Xerox's PARC to the Rios MP3 player.

This...

Its like complaining that Facebook stole the idea of a social networking site. yah maybe they did, but guess what... they did it best so its top dog.

if you truly want malware, poor battery life, carrier-shovelwearism, poor constructed plasticky phones... and overall horrible customer service you can go back to Android...

Sounds more to me like you're easily distracted by new, shiny things.

Let me start off by saying the iPhone 4S is my first ever iPhone. I'm relatively new to iOS (I have owned an iPad 2 since launch day, however) and have spent the past 2 years on Android.

I've been using the iPhone 4S as my daily driver since launch day and it's been a good experience! Battery life is superb, the screen is gorgeous, and the OS is really fluid. However, during this past week things have started to get dull. I feel that overall iOS lacks creativity. It's just pages of colorful icons on a small screen. Sure, when it first came out in 2007 it was revolutionary, but it's been 4 years and it looks almost exactly the same! Apple is one of my favorite companies but I truly feel that they are resting on their laurels, just like RIM and other companies have before they went down hill. So far Apple has done great with this two year upgrade scheme with the iPhone. But companies like Samsung and Motorola are upgrading their technology dramatically each year. The Galaxy S II has been out since March and rivals the iPhone 4S in most areas, imagine what the Galaxy S III will bring! The 3.5 inch screen on the iPhone 4S really bothers me, it's just so small! 4 inches is definitely the sweet spot.

I'm not a fanboy of anything. Android has a lot of faults (although 4.0 is a HUGE improvement) and so does iOS. I just love technology, period. As the biggest tech company in the world, and nearly the biggest company period, I expect more out of Apple. They released the exact same phone with a dual core processor, improved cameras, Siri, and called it a wrap. I personally know a lot of long time iPhone users who are now checking out Android and other OS's because their iPhone just feels boring to them.

I think a major reason why I find iOS stale already is because of Ice Cream Sandwich. I have been a long time Android user but overall the OS just pissed me off, especially stock Android on the Nexus S. The damn thing was just so laggy and buggy it was almost unusable. However, Google fixed nearly EVERYTHING wrong with Android in one update. The UI, performance, apps etc. have all been improved immensely in a single update. I'm actually very surprised Google pulled it off, I really had no faith that 4.0 would be that big of an upgrade. It takes Apple years just to change or improve the simplest things. Most of the stock apps on the iPhone are identical or nearly identical to how they were back in 2007. It's ridiculous! Don't even get me started on how bad the YouTube and Maps apps are. A lot of the Google Apps on Android get major updates several times per year.

If Apple doesn't bring the heat with iOS 6 and the iPhone 5, I truly believe the company will be headed down hill. Google is innovating at an alarming rate and Ice Cream Sandwich opens up an entirely new gateway of possibilities. NFC is going to take off in these next 2 years and Apple has no answer for it. These are just the honest opinions from a tech fanatic.

Bored. How pathetic some people are to be bored with a cell phone that has thousands of times more computing power than all the computer systems that put the first man on the moon.

OP, the solution is simple..... time to move on. Android sounds like the perfect platform for you, you can re-create the user experience as many times as you want/can find that custom perfect working ROM.

I just recently switched from Android after nearly 3 years of usage, and before then it was nearly 3 years if windows mobile. I loved cooking roms for my windows mobile phones, and I loved flashing roms on my android devices..... but eventually I wanted a device where I didn't have to tweak to make it work to my liking. An Evo 3D could have been that phone for me if it were a world phone, but alas, I ended up with an iPhone 4S, and it does exactly what I want..... just to work with a good user experience.

bored here to.....sold my 4S for more than i paid for it!!!...ios has looked basically the same since 2007,ok..yep major improvements have been made...but just still looks the same...if you get fed up with a Android phone, you can completely change the way it looks....
Oh and as for apple being the biggest company period???....just check how big samsung are....the tech side of them is just a very small part of samsung, they build everything from the workings of the phones, screens, chips etc, right up to massive industrial equipment, massive furnaces,ships,everything...and all the bits inbetween, televisions, washing machines, fridges etc....so apple is just a thing buzzing round their ear in comparison...

Now a full two generations behind, they are still pushing the tiny 3.5" display. Not only is that the smallest of any but they've got their followers convinced it's the perfect size. If other manufacturers also had cult like followers that would defend their companies position like Apple does, the playing field would be level.

Apple is in a very unique position. It's as though they can do no wrong.

Do we really need a bigger screen on a phone? Seriously?

I was bored/unimpressed with my iPhone 4 which is why I sold it 2 months after release day for $700 and went to Blackberry. I made a thread about that and got destroyed for it because everyone on this forum is grumpy and you can't have an opinion other than Apple owns. However, I eventually went back to a brand new 3GS Apple gave me and now I'm on the 4S and the iPhone is just a very solid phone that I rely on a lot more than I thought I would back when I got rid of the 4.

you got to laugh....before the 4S everyone was screaming for a 4" screen, now that the 4S is only got a 3.5" screen, everyone is saying, they don't want a bigger screen,so if apple had brought a 4" sounds like no one would have bought it...haha...if apple brought a 1" screen out you would all think that was the way to go....sad really...

Not really. Those who wanted a bigger screen still do. Those who don't want a bigger screen now never did before. I'm not sure why you would think otherwise. That said like I said if Apple can increase the screen size and at the same time keep the same form factor that would be ideal.

To be fair, I somewhat agree with the OP. Has iOS had a major overhaul since it was first released? It's been five years and it still looks the same for the most part. I really enjoy having an iPhone 4s and I'd rather have this phone over any other android phone out there, but I'm getting kind of tired Apple making no major changes to the operating system. It's not broken, but it could be better.

if apple brings out a 4" screen then it'll be the point I stop buying mobiles.

3.5" and I can use it with 1 hand... anything bigger and I wouldn't be able to and I've got really long fingers, but if I want a bigger screen, I'll use the ipad.

Same here. Is the screen huge? No. But I keep this device in the pocket of my jeans and anything bigger would be too big/bulky. Plus, anything bigger would require two-handed operation.

All I get from these threads is tech penis envy. The latest Android generation phones are bigger, better, faster, stronger, etc. Yet, the iPhone remains the top-reviewed phone and consumer favourite. Something about the motion of the ocean...

I get bored of my Jeep sometimes...then I drive to someplace more interesting

Changing out your OS only gets you so much satisfaction. I had the original Droid, messed with custom ROMs weekly...that got old

I don't get a lot of satisfaction out of the iOS...I can only flip through the same screens over an over again...then I download a video game and the iPhone isn't so boring anymore

When I feel grumpy and feel like complaining, I hold down the home button and give Siri a raft of carp

I can understand where the OP is coming from, the 4S looks exactly like the iphone 4, feels and acts exactly like the iphone 4 (performance-wise). It is easy to get bored of because this feels like a re-release of the same iphone 4 which came out 16 months ago, but just with an upgraded iOS.

But it isn't the same inside

I have seen a real difference speed wise and how smooth it is nevermind the fact signal is better, siri has been useful to me, graphics are amazing, camera is top quailty as is the HD recording...it may look the same but is certainly improved.

I didn't buy my 4s because it's OS is entertaining, I bought it because it works.
I really don't understand anyone who complains about the OS looks. I don't pay attention to that, I pay attention to the fact that it works. It is not buggy. And my youtube and other apps seem to work fine. If you can't handle a phone that "just works" feel free to go back to the droid. I am sure you will be as a happy as a clam, as you were before... oh wait, you weren't that happy, you bought an iphone 4s.
