video is different

Watch the video in 1080p and you can see the difference

I agree...he has to watch it in 1080p full screen, the most significant difference you can see is in the last shot of the school, when you watch iPhone 4 footage you can't distinguish the brick lines, but with iPhone 4S you can see it, even on far walls...

thats why we need siri, "where the nearest pub" reply, sorry i dont understand i can only find a wood in north carolina !

designed by an Englishman I believe !!!

Where's the nearest pub?
Siri: I found 12 pubs... 7 of them are fairly close to you:

HAHAAHHAH Freaking funny

I don't have a credit card. I'm 19, And the stupid people wouldn't give me one.....

Take it from someone who was once 19 with credit cards - don't do it. It makes absolutely no sense to pay interest every month on a PHONE. And I guarantee that with your lack of credit history, the interest rate is going to suck. Just save up your loot or sell some things, and pay for it outright.

As regards Siri, off the top of my head I can't think of any other product launch ever where the most hyped USP was actually just an initial public Beta.

(cue Windows Vista jokes)

I can... it was called the FIRST iPhone! we paid $600 for the privilege of paying AT&T $100/month for 2G data, spotty unreliable service and no real apps to speak of... anyone here remember when they were seriously considering web-only apps for the iPhone?

On top of all that, two months later, they lowered the price by $200...

I'm the biggest apple fan going, but that one felt liked I was being bent over...

use siri to send a text message here in the uk and its sends an MMS via email ? WTF is thats all about, pointless ! not happy

Wow! Siri really is amazing.

Just setting up relationships, so I can say call my brother or mother, etc. So easy to do, and it shows you the tags it enters into your address book. I even simply told it to call me Jeff (formal name is Jeffery), so it of course responded, "OK, from now on I will call you Jeff", end it shows the tag it puts in the address book.

It's voice recognition is absolutely uncanny.

if urs didnt ship yet u can edit the order and change the ship to address. i did just that and it just arrived

You must be a magician.

After I placed my order on 10/7 I realized that my shipping adress was listed as my old house. As I no longer live there, I was pretty concerned about it.

10/8: Called Apple and was told there was nothing they could do.

10/8: Called Apple again and was told there was nothing they could do.

10/8: Requested a Senior advisor who pacified me by saying he would attempt to do something. He even gave me his email address in case I needed further assistance.

10/11: After tracking the package via UPS and seeing that it was still going to my old address, I contacted said Senior rep by email and telephone. I recieved no answer.

10/12: Called Apple and asked them to please place a "Delivery Intercept" on my phone to the new address. They said it was done.

10/13: UPS tracking still listed package as going to old address. Called Apple and asked again that they please look into it. They requested (again) to reroute the package and sent me a coupon for my next Apple purchase.

10/14: Called UPS to see if EVERYONE above was actually telling me the truth. UPS claimed that they recieved NO notifications and that they couldn't do anything as the package was "out for delivery". They also stated that the package had NO SIGNATURE REQUIRED and a listed value of $1...

10/14: Called Apple who called UPS. After spending 30 minutes on the phone with Apple who in turn were on hold with UPS, they were able to put a hold on the package so that I could pick it up at the hub tonight. This was after UPS told Apple that they could NOT reroute due to the restrictions Apple themselves placed. The Apple rep called them out and said "We can do that.", but I decided to just pick it up myself. UPS took my phone number and said they would call me back within a few hours to say when I could get it.

10/14: UPS said they were able to put a hold on the package, but because the truck may not be back by the time before their office closes, I may not be able to get the phone tonight. When I stated that I'll just take my chances and asked when they close, they informed me that I needed an ID that had the shipping address on it in order to get the package...

After that woman at UPS realized that would be impossible, she said she'd call me back. I just got off the phone with her. She had to talk with multiple Supervisors, change my address in the system, make a note, gave me everyones phone number imvolved and said that I could get my phone tonight at 7:00. She also said that I should get there early as they anticipate a line because of "all these phones."

I'm glad your experience was much smoother than mine. I'm guessing yours was delivered via Fedex?

Isn't it ironic that one of the first people to place a preorder has to stand in line in order to get his phone, anyway? LOL

Best phone ever . . . until the iPhone 5, which is the phone that I will be getting.

You do realise that the next iPhone will be the sixth generation? So it won't be called the iPhone 5.

Anyway I love that so much thought was put in to even ridiculous requests/statements. Gives it all more personality.

What I don't get is that people give you negative feedback on what is the truth. (The Bold Stuff)
Apple customers used to be mostly American but now by far most of their products sold are outside of the US.

Apple is an international company, its revenue is for a large part outside of the US so Apple should do more for those loyal customers outside the US.

Think different Apple

Yes but America's still their biggest single market by a long shot. Would you have preferred they postpone the launch, either globally or just outside of the US, whilst they work on the non-US Siri?

my point is, my little half mexican/cuban friend, is why send out a phone with software that doesn't do what it says on the tin, because we dont all live in the USA, seriously, dont market the phone until its fit for that market.

MobileMe won't Merge

Anyone have issues migrating from MobileMe?

I found out the hard way that you can't merge accounts. My iTunes account was under my normal email address (a gmail address) and my MobileMe was, of course, my MobileMe email address. You can't merge the two, and it's obviously annoying to change the account you use with iTunes. That would mean you would "lose" your apps, music, and books.

But then I realized something. The only thing I got for moving my MobileMe account to iCloud was an extra 20GB of space. It was easier to just export my calendars, bookmarks, and address book, and use them with my iTunes account. The only thing I lose in that equation is the extra 20GB in storage.

The bottom line, for me, was that MobileMe's features all took extra steps. They were easy steps, but steps none the less. iCloud attempts to simply store and sync everything invisibly to you– hence the PhotoStream instead of Gallery, app storage instead of iDisk, etc. Sure, I'll miss iDisk. I use that a fair amount– but even that need will go away once app developers integrate with iCloud. You'll just store those documents in the cloud.

Long story short, I think I'm going to argue they give me the 20GB of storage on my iTunes account instead. If I go through with it, I'll let you all know what happens.

Did you miss the bit where it says BETA?

And what did you want? Apple already said that these functions would only work in the US with US English. If you think they shouldn't have launched in the UK until it would work the same in the UK, why didn't you just wait to buy? Same end result. Or should the whole world have to wait another couple of years until they've finished the Welsh or Pite Sami implementation of Siri?

Sadly Siri doesn't understand my Scottish accent, however when I put on a fake yankee American accent it understands me.

So to sum up Apple think America is the centre of the universe and I am just about to return my iPhone 4S and get a Nexus Prime.

Apple suck

It's beta software. I'm sure people in Germany will say the same; even though Siri officially supports German, perhaps people who speak different dialects of German will not be understood by Siri. Same with the other languages.

Is The iPhone 4S capable to standby on both GSM and CDMA networks so that you can call from both of them?

Silly me, which country in Europe is it that has a larger population than the US?

Playing that game, the "Americas" have a larger population than Europe (910.7 million versus 595 million). Thanks for getting those numbers for me Siri :)

its not about population, its about the numbers of iphones sold per head per population, see if siri can help you out there, would be an interesting scale.

Most people don't understand a heavy Scottish accent.

And I was born in Aberdeen, so trust me on this one. Make a person with an OK grasp of English (I would count Siri as an ESL Student) watch Trainspotting. You'll have some explaining to do.

Okay, I wasn't going to post any responses to those members that haven't gotten the naming schema down right, but I will help anyone out that hasn't read any of the naming wars that go on in the iPhone camp.

1. iPhone
2. iPhone 3G (not third generation, 3G as in network)
3. iPhone 3Gs
4. iPhone 4
5. iPhone 4s
6. iPhone 5
7. iPhone 5s
8. (so forth and so on)

Another way to look at is is this

1. iPhone
2. iPhone 3G/3Gs
3. iPhone 4/4s
4. iPhone 5/5s

Now if Apple wants to end the confusion, they really need to go back to calling the iPhone just the iPhone, and leave the numbers out of it, but that may cause major issues with carriers/stores having multiple generations of phones for sale at once.

The next iPhone will either be an iPhone 5 or just an iPhone. It won't be an iPhone 6 . . . . unless Apple just wants to skip numbers like they've done with Final Cut Pro and Quicktime.

Funny. You thing that is different, significantly, in Europe? My kids and wife each have a phone (two teens). That is pretty common here. Drive by a mall and find the kid that DOESN'T have a phone - good luck with that. You don't actually think it is one phone per household over here do you?
