Something it seems nobody has considered: following the naming convention they already employed with the release of the 2nd generation iPhone, I bet they're going to call the next one the iPhone LTE.

Good call! That may just end the ridiculous naming schema they've got going on right now which is confounding certain people.

I got my 32GB White iPhone 4S at the Tysons Corner Mall around 10am. There was no line. They still had hundreds of new iPhones lined up along the back counter. I should have taken a picture. It was pretty cool looking.

Does Siri recognize birthdays in your contacts/calendars?

Can I ask Siri, "How old is Mary?". If it is able to read our contacts (where we put date of birth), and if iCal is able to display "John Parker's 45th Birthday", then I thought Siri might be able to answer correctly.

I am very surprised Google did not beat Apple to the "Siri" assistant --- it has a freakishly futuristic feel to it.

Also on the video, why does the 4S flicker around 50seconds when filming indoors while the older 4 handles the lighting just fine?

Well Android has always been light years ahead of IOS when it comes to voice command integration. While Siri is very impressive, Android can already do much of what Siri can and there are apps available that are similar to Siri, but admittedly not quite as good. You can be sure that Google is working on and will soon release an update.

Wrong.

if urs didnt ship yet u can edit the order and change the ship to address. i did just that and it just arrived

You must be a magician.

After I placed my order on 10/7 I realized that my shipping adress was listed as my old house. As I no longer live there, I was pretty concerned about it.

10/8: Called Apple and was told there was nothing they could do.

10/8: Called Apple again and was told there was nothing they could do.

10/8: Requested a Senior advisor who pacified me by saying he would attempt to do something. He even gave me his email address in case I needed further assistance.

10/11: After tracking the package via UPS and seeing that it was still going to my old address, I contacted said Senior rep by email and telephone. I recieved no answer.

10/12: Called Apple and asked them to please place a "Delivery Intercept" on my phone to the new address. They said it was done.

10/13: UPS tracking still listed package as going to old address. Called Apple and asked again that they please look into it. They requested (again) to reroute the package and sent me a coupon for my next Apple purchase.

10/14: Called UPS to see if EVERYONE above was actually telling me the truth. UPS claimed that they recieved NO notifications and that they couldn't do anything as the package was "out for delivery". They also stated that the package had NO SIGNATURE REQUIRED and a listed value of $1...

10/14: Called Apple who called UPS. After spending 30 minutes on the phone with Apple who in turn were on hold with UPS, they were able to put a hold on the package so that I could pick it up at the hub tonight. This was after UPS told Apple that they could NOT reroute due to the restrictions Apple themselves placed. The Apple rep called them out and said "We can do that.", but I decided to just pick it up myself. UPS took my phone number and said they would call me back within a few hours to say when I could get it.

10/14: UPS said they were able to put a hold on the package, but because the truck may not be back by the time before their office closes, I may not be able to get the phone tonight. When I stated that I'll just take my chances and asked when they close, they informed me that I needed an ID that had the shipping address on it in order to get the package...

After that woman at UPS realized that would be impossible, she said she'd call me back. I just got off the phone with her. She had to talk with multiple Supervisors, change my address in the system, make a note, gave me everyones phone number imvolved and said that I could get my phone tonight at 7:00. She also said that I should get there early as they anticipate a line because of "all these phones."

I'm glad your experience was much smoother than mine. I'm guessing yours was delivered via Fedex?

Isn't it ironic that one of the first people to place a preorder has to stand in line in order to get his phone, anyway? LOL

To be fair this could have all been avoided if you had just had it shipped to the right address. Sure apple and ups screwed up but having something shipped to an address you don't live at is pretty significant on your part.

"finding that Siri is having trouble with specific accents"

Yeah good, maybe these people can learn to talk right

I bet you a fiver that this Siri thingy will have quite some task at its hands understanding someone like Sir Alex Ferguson for instance...:D:D

I suggest you go and tell some of these folks over there that they cannot speak proper English and see what the response might be...

Once in a lifetime experience that's gonna be, I am tellin' ya...no doub abau tha...:D

Hello computer.

But seriously, I think that more accents will work in time. It's a learning system so it should just keep expanding.

Video function is great...

My partner and I shot this video using the iPhone 4s. We wanted to check out the practical video capabilities of the phone. Although far from perfect, it is a surprisingly high-quality video camera. The main weakness in our assessment was the rolling shutter, it gets very fluid on most pans. We also found that a fixed wide lens posed some major hurdles for use on a more complicated shoot. Check out the video below...
