I haven't had problems with mine, but it seems like there is a new news story everyday about some issue with the phone. It certainly hasn't been that great from that perspective.

This is by far the best iPhone I've had and I've had three others.

OP's post will before Christmas time will seem silly and thoughtless. The hiccups of the new phone that SOME, not ALL, have had, will be easily addressed.

My phone has had: GREAT service (on AT&T), about the same battery as iPhone 4, and I don't use Siri extensively so thats whatever (besides the first day, it's worked pretty much every time I used it).

So what ignore the fact that every gadget site is talking about all these problems?

Pretty much, yes. It's news. It's sensational. It doesn't mean that 99% of the 4 million iPhone buyers the first week aren't happy with their phones. What else are the gadget sites going to write about? Everything is honky dory?

Yes, there are issues. But the finest hour reference is hyperbolic and inaccurate.

the claims that people have that dub the 4S as a "bad phone" are ridiculous. all these so-called "problems" can and will be fixed by minor OTA software updates. and the Siri complaint, like many have already mentioned but most still don't understand, is nonsense because she is in beta.

people need to stop finding the negatives, which are very small and minor, and enjoy the positives. damn, it gets old.

oh! and btw OP, please list your products that amount up to that $20k price tag you gave. i find it hard to believe since you already mentioned what you own.

20k is what, three Macbooks and a ipod nano? That's not too unreasonable.

I kid. :D

Although the battery life on my 4S totally sucks, and I can't imagine this being an iOS 5 issue (because my wife's iPhone 4 with iOS 5 does have this problem), the worse 4S atrocity that CAN:' be fixed is the meager 3.5" screen. I'm almost embarrased to have it now. And i wouldn't if it wasn't for the 64 GB, which is awesome to have.

Tony
You buy phones based on how you'll look with it? Cool.

Well let's see...

Siri outages are hardly significant. It's cool, it's fun, it's beta. EVERYONE can live without it occasionally.

Beta or not when you pay for a service you expect it to work. In my opinion the Siri Beta should never have been released to the public.

Antennagate was based on a fact; that the antenna was poorly designed. And Apple tried to pass it off as nothing, until they caved.

Apple never caved, they deny the real issue (bridging the tiny gap between the antennas makes signal go bye bye) to this day.

I would have to disagree with the OP. I upgraded from a 3GS, and must say its a nice improvement over the 3GS. I have no complaints. I have no problems with battery life. It seems to last longer through the day than my 3GS. Call quality is much better than my 3GS. I found the call quality on the 3GS to be only fair, when compared to my old Motorola and Nokia phones. As for Siri, I like it. I do actually use it. Is it perfect? No, but it takes time. As for the outage affecting Siri, sounds to me its server are being overwhelmed with people using it or trying it out, kind of like the first weekend the 4S came out.

Yeah, we were all shocked and disappointed when we opened our boxes on "iPhone Day" and saw the 3.5" screen... wait... didn't we know that before we ordered?

With much anticipation Apple released the iPhone 4S a few weeks ago but since then, customers have encountered several significant issues: Siri outages, battery consumption, poor call quality. This makes antenna-gate seem tiny by comparison.

Now Apple clearly anticipated the excitement and pent-up demand for the 4S but from an engineering and infrastructure standpoint, well, it has not been Apple's finest hour.

As a long-time Apple customer (iPad2, iPhone 4, MacBook Pro plus phones and computers for my family) I am a concerned. This was Tim Cook's first product that was 'his' and I seriously hope he is kicking a$$ and taking names a la Steve Jobs.

You can sell cool technology all you want but it needs to work as advertised or it WILL negatively effect your business and allow competitors an opening.

What's your point?

You're the wrong demographic, you'll see the best upgrade for you in the 5. Just like 3GS owners saw the most value in the 4S.

I strongly disagree with the OP! The issues you name can be fixed with SOFTWARE UPDATES!

:apple:

No, joke, I see why some people were disappointed with the 4S. People seem to set these ridiculous expectations for Apple - but 9/10 Apple delivers. Sometimes its best to step back and chill.

One issue with the iPhone and people go crazy, like Apple cannot make mistakes. Reality check: They do. But, at least it is one company that will fix their problems in a timely manner.

but, if you're really that dissatisfied, their re-sale value is excellent.

so, you're best bet is selling the "bad" 4S and purchasing a Galaxy S2 Epic Touch 4G.

Exactly. If he doesn't want it, I'm willing to bet you one of those people with an iPhone pre-order will grab it.

Uh. you contradicted yourself it is an IOS 5 issue not just a 4S issue if both your 4S and wife's 4 both have the problem.

like clockwork, the naysayers all come out and have to bash Apple. Why don't you guys who start these threads just go back to your Android forums and gush about how cool your open system is. Maybe you guys can talk about how many times a day you have to pull your battery to unfreeze your phones?

HD video uses a LOT of space...

Not to mention Music. I still am aching for a 128gb iPhone. Until then I will stick with 32gb and my 160gb Classic for my music.

I have around 100gb of music.

On topic, I disagree. I love my 4S. Maybe not their finest hour, but definitely no where close to their worst.

I have no battery problems. My calls are better than before. Everything about the phone is better for me.

Oh, please, OP!!!
I've been reading this ******** since the iPhone 4S was released! I was about to cancel my plans of buying one! But finally I managed to reserve one (64GB White). But even on the day when I was on my way to the store I was still hesitating, because of all these crappy things said about the gadget. But I wanted to give it a try!
You know what?! This thing is amazing! I was blown away with everything in this phone. I'm still shocked after 5 iPhone 4's I went through last year and 4 iPad 2's this year. I'm pleasantly surprised that the first one is a good one!
I don't have any of the issues you and everybody else talking about!
The screen is beautiful (even cooler than my current iPhone 4)
No static or echo whatsoever
The battery is almost identical to the 4!!!! I've been testing it for 2 days in a row and got more than 7 hours of heavy usage (games, web browsing, videos).
The antenna design is something that almost made me cry in a good way after the terrible 4! I'm using the field test and watching it switching between antennas in order to get a better signal is mesmerizing in terms of engineering.
The home button! Wow! What's in there?! It's super springy! FYE I had to swap 2 iPhone 4's last and this year due to unresponsive home button.
Should I go on?!!!!
Frankly speaking, the iPhone 4 was Apple's sad hour! With the iPhone 4S they finally got everything right, at least, in my case! Sorry if somebody got a bad one. I suggest you go and have it swapped if you think it can't be fixed via software.

I wholeheartedly disagree. I love my iPhone 4S and it works as advertised (aside from a SIM card issue which is Sprint's responsibility).

Let's take a look at the numbers. Apple sold more than 4 million iPhones in the first week or so. Probably a lot closer to 5 and maybe 6 million by now. If you allow for a .01% failure or defect rate that's about 40 thousand phones. Even if you add up all the complaint threads in this forum and Apple's forum I don't think it adds up to anything close to 40 thousand.

I also have to say the my iPhone is the clearest sounding phone I've had in years. If you're having problems maybe you should visit an Apple store. And as it has also been pointed out we won't see a product from Tim Cook for a couple years, maybe less if he has an original idea he's been holding onto. This phone and the next are mostly Steve Jobs'. Starting with iPhone 6 we should see what post-Steve iPhones will look like and function like.

Agree with you, but this was still SJ phone. The next one is Tim's.

And here I was thinking after reading this forum that this is Apple's least problematic release in years.

iOS 5 has the seems to have the fewest and least impactful initial bugs of any major release (iOS or OS X) I can think of this decade. (Except maybe the original iPhone OS?)

iCloud has had the smoothest role out of the .mac, Mobile Me, iCloud trilogy.

And hardly any hardware complaints.

And they were all released at once. That's impressive.
