I preordered with AT&T at 7AM on the 7th. They gave me a runaround because of my PO Box billing address. Still waiting. The only shipping estimate is 21-28 days. I walked into Verizon today. 16GB in stock, my 64GB will be there in two days. B'bye AT&T! Never again.

Bye Bye any unlimited data too.

I am assuming that since every store I've searched shows zero phones available that the system will be refreshed this evening with the actual stock?

I hope their system is better than Rogers' here in Canada. Boy did they mess up the launch big time and they are now facing big customer backlash.

I was lucky to find a store that had plenty of stock or I still wouldn't have an iPhone 4S. My "pre-ordered" phone is still somewhere out there on some truck waiting to get to one of their stores.

It's a good thing we could cancel pre-orders at any time.

I'm gonna get one in the next week or so in SF. Question: does apple still give a 10% discount if you turn in an old iphone? Their website says you get the 10% for turning in an old ipod, but does it work for phones?

They never did it on phones. The only phone discount is from the carrier, even if you want it off contract.

Oh and according to my sources, there will be no walk in sales. The manages are supposed to staff a limited number of sales staff to sell phones and set a reservation limit at what that group can reasonably sell. Everyone else is supposed to be covering all other Sales etc. that way they don't get a repeat of the major complaints from the iPad 2 launch about everyone being tied up selling iPads and folks couldn't get any other kind of help

My local Fry's store have a lot of this iphone 4s, no line

If you want buy one, easy, just go there and get one.

It just shows unavailable all over... nothing else...

they better fix it.

I logged on right at 8:59 and supposedly have one reserved at the 5th Avenue store for tomorrow (white 32GB AT&T). I'll see what happens since I want to buy the device only ($749). Hopefully it doesn't get locked in the process since I had to give them an e-mail address (though not a phone number). If it does, I might set it up anyway and then return in within the window when the official unlocked ones come up for sale.

UWS had some 64GB AT&T models left, and 16GB Sprint or Verizon when I checked.

If you were on the page before and you're not able to select a store. Click on the iPhone link on the top navigation bar. Then Buy Now, then reserve. Then try again.

Just want to highlight about iPhone 4s can be sold for around $2000 in China. Such a pity

I mean foxconn made them, being exported to US, and then returned back again to them for 6x more expensive (well production cost for an iPhone is around $300, right?) It's not even come with warranty since officially those iphones not supposed to be in China yet

And for more excitement, some people there are willing to buy them. Yeah some of them maybe filthy rich, but some of them not really. I mean ... Come on .. It's not an exclusive iphone with diamond and gold chassis. It's just being in a hype and rush because it's still new.

Pity for some people where pride matters over common sense. I love iphone, but if i'm being put on that condition, i'd rather wait anytime, thank you

Are they talking local time for the store you select or is it PDT? I keep checking the Toronto area stores and everything's unavailable, so I assume it must be PDT? I checked right before and at 9:00pm, so...

Local time. I just reserved one in NYC (limit 1, which makes sense).

Before 9:00 the stocks at my local store said "non available". After 9:00 they show the true availability. Got a white 64 at&t reserved for tomorrow. :)

I loaded the page within 5 seconds of it turning 9:00PM so I'd be very impressed if there was so little stock that it vanished within that time.

Besides, it shows everything unavailable for *all* products, not just the iPhone. Glitch?

I just walked into the apple store this evening and bought a 32GB Black VZW iPhone 4S. There was quite a crowd there waiting for help from the Apple Specialists, but nobody mentioned a word about having to make a "reservation." They certainly were not turning people away here in Raleigh, NC.

It's a standard page. When I logged on, all the main Apple product lines appeared on the page (MacBook Air, iPod, etc.) as "unavailable" except the iPhone. When I clicked on the iPhone, I was taken to the page that showed the availability by carrier.

Are you in Canada? That's where the problem seems to be, not the US.

It just started today. In places like NYC that have a lot of tourists, even in October, it's a bit harder. There were only a handful of people at the Upper West Side store this evening, but they still said the wait would be over an hour. They also had only the 64GB models. I wanted 32GB, so opted to reserve one tonight at 5th Avenue. We'll see what happens. According to the other thread, if you pay full price and don't give them your AT&T information, the phone is unlocked. That's what I want.

No, NYC. I think the system is the same, though (9:00PM local time).
