'iPhone 4S' to Debut as Only New iPhone Next Month?

I really hope they are not going with the 4s name for the only design. '4S' is a crap name for a phone.
I can forgive the 3GS naming because it allowed them to get on track to the naming of the iPhone 1,2,3,4 pattern to line up correctly. iPhone 5 would be a great name.
 
This event cannot come any sooner. Im getting so sick of this 4S/5 back and forth. An hour ago someone said "iPhones" and now its back to just one. AHHHH
 
I read one report, and an analyst's claim, that the next iPhone will make phone calls, do texting, can browse the web, take pictures and video..blah blah blah...

Sorry, but these "Analysts", and would be experts know jack s#$t! Sorry, but we'll find out what the new phone looks like, wait for it...wait for it...on October 4th!

I bet Apple is going to release the whole new iPhone 4 with an absolutely magical redesigned antenna which gives you 2x the signal strength at a particular location. Magical.
The iPhone will now magically display at the max 10 bars for full signal and 5 bars for no signal so that there is no confusion whatsoever.

There is no iPhone 4s or iPhone 5 this fall. I can vouch for it. I know it.

And yes, I am Chuck Norris too.

guess no one remembers how pissed apple was that iPhone 4 was leaked? OF COURSE WE AREN'T SEEING PARTS AND LEAKS, they have ***** on lock down now!
 
This is what I expected all along. It doesn't make sense for Apple to come out with 2 new models, when they'd make just as much money having 1. Why would they double their costs? IMO it'll just be a slightly revamped iPhone 4.

Come on people. Don't expect huge changes from this company every year.

there will be 2 iphones. Its been reported on the WSJ back in February.

You believe a bunch of chump analysts over controlled leaks from WSJ?

i'll be extremely disappointed. seems like a copout move from apple.

but, what about all the cases showing the teardrop form factor?

i'll keeping thinking positively and hope they've been lucky with security and leaks. praying for larger screen!

What makes you think the WSJ writer doesn't get his "information" from the same rumor sites that feed all these threads?
 
No matter what the phone looks like, why would they call a new phone running iOS 5 a 4 anything. The phone will be iPhone 5!!!!.
 
I am so sick of the stupid iPhone 4 release cycles.

1. First there was all new black iPhone 4 (AT&T)

2. Then there was all new Verizon iPhone 4

3. Then there was white iPhone 4

4. Now iPhone 4S???? (Possibly)

Please! Enough with iPhone 4 half-ass release updates. Apple would have to have their heads really far up their asses to release something so minor and mundane after so much time has elapsed from the first phone. Given the competitiveness of the market, I don't think they can afford to.
 
Redesign or not, I'm getting the new iPhone, but it'll be a disappointment if after 15 months the thing looks damn nearly the same; think of the extra R 'n' D that those extra 3 months up to now could bring to the design.
 
Soooo.....they base this on the assumption that the iphone 4 will stay in production and three models at once is too many?

Maybe....just maybe....it won't stay in production? Maybe the 4 as we know it will be discontinued and they're updating the performance specs in a "4S" model to better take advantage of iOS 5?

Holy crap, I'm an analyst now. Quick, somebody pay me 6 figures a year.
 
This whole topic is silly.

iPhone 5 has for the longest time simply meant the 5th iPhone.

iPhone 4S refers to the 5th iPhone, also -- it's just that iPhone 4S is what folks speculate Apple will call the 5th iPhone. If that name is correct then iPhone 4S is the 5th iPhone that folks hoped would be released this past June/July, but is instead being announced in October (shipping ??).

So by rights the phone everybody is dreaming about is actually the iPhone 6 (6th iPhone), which some have speculated may be called iPhone 4G, because it is expected to introduce a 4G/LTE chipset -- NEXT YEAR!
