I can confirm the 3 issues on my 4S. The don't happen all the time, but when they do, it's annoying as hell.

Dispite what some may say this is why its always best not to rush and get a product on launch. Waiting 3-6 month is good as to enable all the problems to get rectified, this goes for cars also.

People always rush to have the latest but the ones that wait and are not bothered on having a new product on release or asap are the true winners.

No doubt the people tat rush to get the product then have minor/major problems are going to thumbs down me for speaking the truth. Oh well

Either i don't pay attn, I don't have ANY trouble, or some people or picky, or I'm extremely lucky. But I've ha fantastic battery life, twice as long as my bionic, 80 times longer than my thunderbolt, and as long as my iPhone 4. To beat it all, I use this phone for an average of 5-7 hours per day. I'm thinking this issue is more of a i

I think of the carrier

When I see echo complaints I relate it to the carrier not the hardware. Occasionally I've had an echo with the 4 and 4S. I blame the carrier. The battery issue is real but it only effects me mildly for some reason. It is still very usable just doesn't last as long as the 4 did. Overall my experience with the 4S is pleasurable but I believe some tweaks by Apple will make my experience even better.

well i already replaced my phone for the buzzing and will have no problem trying to replace again before my 1 yr mark.

While I totally agree with you, the reason I personally choose to adopt at launch is because I need my phone to be jailbroken. In the past vulnerabilities that are available in the launch phone's hardware/software are later taken away and thus making a jailbreak very difficult or impossible.

But yeah, in general, you're right.

Makes one nostalgic for the good ole' days of Antennagate where there was an easy work-around. This sounds like it really sucks for those affected.

Weird. I haven't had any issues as described in the article on my 4S (it's Sprint).

FWIW, I'm not aware of my wife's phone (16GB white 4s on Sprint) having any of these issues. At least, she hasn't complained of any of them (and if a single problem did arise, she'd complain to me.) However, my phone (16GB black 4s on AT&T) exhibits a few problems:

The audio on my Jawbone 3 (I don't think I've noticed it for sure on my Jawbone Icon, but I haven't used it much in the past two weeks) will almost always be turned all the way down when I first connect it to my 4s. This never happened in 2+ years with my 3g.

Also, sometimes the mic just "doesn't work" on outgoing calls (and maybe once or twice on incoming.) If I switch to speaker and then back again, it will be fine.

There's something wrong, but I can't find anything physically wrong. I'm REALLY looking forward to the iOS 5.x update. I'm tempted to do a complete re-install, but from the sound of things, that won't help.

Since upgrading my 3GS to iOS5 I've had two instances where the incoming sound on a call has cut off, but the other person can still hear me. It may or may not be related to the new facility of a customised text tone... on one (maybe both) occasion(s) the sound cut off after receiving a text. Anyone else? I don't call enough to have established a proper pattern.

I've had the echo and audio that must be fixed by toggling speakerphone on the 3GS and the 4. It happens rarely, but only because I usually text. I don't know how prevalent it would be if I called more often.

i think this could be the problem of the carrier's network because i get static and echo on some calls, even on some of the nokia phones i had.

i also have had problem where i could hear the person on the other end, but the other end could not hear me; or the other way around. this also have happened on different models of nokia phones i had from different years.

Thanks god this is getting some attention. I'm on my second iPhone 4S that has this echo using headphone (and the rapid depletion of battery.) Neither of these were problems on my iPhone 4, which I'm sad to say I have to go back to before my return period is up (was hoping for software fix, but my fear is its a hardware issue with these early iPhone 4s models.) I will miss Siri.

mic issues

Apple replaced my phone three times. the third time was the charm. my phone has been working perfectly ever since. i believe there was a bad batch of phones so just be persistent and you'll get the problem resolved.

I think people are confused as to what the static means, and should have a look at the apple forum. People hear a buzzing noise, behind the earpiece. Its on all phones but you have to be in a quiet environment to hear it. just put the phone to your ear and make sure it becomes active such as having siri start. just sit there and listen you will hear it.

I am SO tired of people trying to make fun of that phrase every single time there's a bug. When Steve Jobs said "it just works", he did not say, "there will never ever be a bug in our software ever." There will ALWAYS be bugs in software and that will never change.

"It just works" meant that you don't have to configure a bunch of settings or go through any kind of long and annoying process to use a feature. You're being immature when you continually make fun of a company by taking a phrase in a direction it wasn't meant to be taken.

It just works.. it means it just works. No issue, and it just works.. the way it should:rolleyes:

What I have found was that often times the 4S' built-in microphone is active while I am also using the headset, creating the echo effect.

Having similar issues connected via bluetooth.

With any luck it's a "one line fix for all."

This has happened to me too.

Since obtaining the 4s I have had problems with people hearing my voice on outgoing and incoming calls, but only when I was on the phone at my office. I could hear the person on the other end, but they just couldn't hear me. I experienced normal call quality everywhere else. I had previously had no call problems at my office with an iPhone 3g. I brought my wife's 4s into the office to test and it did not have this problem. A

fter going round for round with AT&T and Apple phone support about this issue (ATT blamed the hardware, Apple blamed ATT), and after both parties attempting all the usual fixes, I took it into the local Apple store and they replaced the phone without much hassle. I brought the phone back into work and the problem is gone. I'm still not sure what the actual problem was, but I'm happy it's fixed.

Owning an iPhone 4 and not choosing to upgrade to 4S, these issues makes me giggle secretly.. :D Siri comes with a baggage, I guess..

iPhone 4S 16GB White (Verizon)

Also, sometimes the mic just "doesn't work" on outgoing calls (and maybe once or twice on incoming.) If I switch to speaker and then back again, it will be fine.

I've found that the microphone stops functioning when the break between the antennae at the bottom right (when facing the iPhone's front) is covered by my hand/finger.

I'm surprised to have seen no mention of this in the article.

I am now on my 3rd replacement 4s and I still have the echo issue, hardware or software?

Time will tell!

Why's this down-voted? 's quite right!
