If there's one thing that the IPhone doesn't get right, it's the keyboard. It constantly misses keys and letters which then lead to typos which lead to ridiculous autocorrections. Need examples? Just search the plethora of "damn you iPhone autocorrection" sites that are out there. Plus the lack of a suggestion bar and the inability to choose which words the dictionary remembers also hurts the typing experience on iOS.

Like others mentioned, if you don't like the stock keyboard just try many of the other amazing keyboard alternatives out there. Some of them are brilliantly intuitive. Swype comes to mind.

Quoted for the truth. It is so much more responsive and reliable. Even editing is easier with stock ics' edit system. The autocorrection is also smarter and more in tune. If it was even just a year ago this would go to the iPhone but ics' keyboard is truly leaps and bounds ahead of iOS'.
I have to agree, the Apple keyboard is awful and it's predictions/AC is even more awful. That's one of the main complaints even on this forum lol.

ICS keyboard is as slick and intuitive as it get's, I've typed whole sentences hitting maybe a letter or two per word as it's predictive ability is just insane. And not just guessing any word, it seems to know based on the sentence structure and previous words that when you type whatever letter, it knows which word to use. I used swype before, but haven't gone back after using ICS.

And editing I've always felt Android excelled over iOS even when I didn't like/own an Android device lol. I've stated before on here that Apple needs to implement an editing setup like Androids, so accurate and easy to move exactly where you want and how etc even on gingerbread, iOS editing is just clumsy or at least that's how it always felt to me over the years.

A big thanks to all the help for Android keyboards (in an Apple forum of all places). I've just bought Swiftkey X and find it far more accurate than the Samsung keyboard. I'd say easily on a par/better than the iOS keyboard (and yes, I know some of you don't like the iOS keyboard but it's always worked well for me).

I hate to say this, but I woke up to my Galaxy Nexus frozen, then an "Encryption Unsuccessful" error message after rebooting.

Followed some XDA Forum instructions to Flash with Odin, and the program says the recovery succeeds, but my phone still freeze during the boot screen. Incredibly disheartening. I have no idea what happened to my phone and I didn't do anything out of the ordinary with it. The interwebs tells me it's "corrupted memory", whatever that means.

It's times like this, I miss Apple's customer service and genius bars...

I'm really really hoping iOS 6 and the new iPhone hit it out of the ballpark, as I still feel ICS is, at the moment, the better OS... when it's working.

.

What do I miss from my 3GS? The soft keyboard and the built in iPod and the little things that Apple gets right.

Nearly all mid to top line Android phones can sync with itunes and act just like an ipod. Several apps to do this, including wifi syncing automatically should you want to.

And Perfect Keyboard Pro (free version as well) is the best keyboard imo. Allows for a ton of customization.

The bold text speaks volumes about which the better OS. :p

Might want to tell this to all the frustrated iphone owners on here that have a ton of issues with iOS. Just sayin.

I can't believe I have a bricked Galaxy Nexus. This just doesn't make me feel good about Samsung.

This gives a whole new meaning to tomorrow's iOS 6 keynote. Please be awesome.

You should be able to fix it. Just use ADB or fast boot and reload the stock firmware.

I've tried reflashing the stock images (directly from Google) with Odin, and Odin says the process is successful (I get the green Pass! sign), but when it goes to reboot the phone, it remains stuck in the boot screen (with the flashing colors/lights). I'm going to try some recovery toolkits -- this is all new to me, so I'm learning as I go. But I'm not holding my breath.

Or do a warranty or out of warranty repair on the thing (depending on what has been done to it).

Yeah, I'm going to reach out to Samsung service, but I hear they are notorious for being unhelpful. And if it means I have to put a significant amount of money into it (repairs, shipping, whatever) I may just save the money.

Again, so much will depend on iOS 6 and the new iPhone. I'm still an ardent believer that ICS is the superior OS, but... it's crap like this that make me wary of going Samsung again.
