I know there are many options with respect to getting media onto a SIII from your Mac, but is there a good way to make sure your media is organized well once it's on the SIII? I'm asking specifically for music. I like the way I can make sure everything is organized to my liking in iTunes so that way it will show up according in the Music app. I want to make my artists appear in alphabetical order properly, all album art represented and accurately, etc.
doubleTwist will do all of this

DoubleTwist is such an amazing music player.

Anyway... Apple is seeking to ban/delay the SIII from releasing in the USA over patent infringements, including S-Voice being Siri.

"... claiming that the device uses a data tapping patent owned by Apple and is one the patents that the tech titan is claiming that the HTC devices infringe on. The other patent that Apple claims the Samsung Galaxy S III infringes on has to do with unified search as it relates to Siri. Apple is said to be looking at some other patents including its new slide-to-unlock patent and one that covers autocomplete"

I take it you can choose to use their dedicated media player if desired? (And just use their software to load the music onto the SIII?) The media player seems to have a strong review history too.

(Also will it matter if I'm loading the music from DoubleTwist onto an SD card located on the SIII?)

Sorry for all the Android related questions.

Doubletwist will give you the option of loading the music on the phones internal storage or the sd card. I use their android app because I have the podcast addition but any music you put on the phone or sd card can be accessed by any music app. If you don't use the double twist app n7player is another good one.

Cool. Thanks for the info.

No it isnt. Sometimes it takes the carriers 2-3 more months to get the updates out.

As I said, the faster it gets to the carriers, the faster it gets out. The carriers always test the updates before they are released.

You said nothing different than what you quoted me as saying.

I misunderstood how the smart stay feature works in the S3. What happens is, the eye icon in the notification bar pops up whenever the screen is about to time out to see if you're still looking at it. If you are, it stops the screen from going off. It works PERFECTLY now that I understand how it works.

I was under the impression that the eye stays in the bar the entire time you're looking at the screen, but that's not the case.

Looked at my phone for about two minutes with the screen timeout set to 15 seconds. It didn't turn off. Then I put my phone on the desk and... it still didn't turn off (it could see I was looking at it from an angle), so I hid from it and it turned off. :)

I spent too much time arsing around and trying to get the eye to pop up in the notification bar rather than just reading something to see if it works.

Very useful feature.

Very cool. it really puts the smart in smartphone in my opinion. And I'm glad it doesn't drain the battery by having the front camera watching all the time.

Yep, hasn't made an iota of difference to my battery so far. It's unlikely to impact on it much based on the way it's implemented. If my battery does take a hit I'll just change the screen timeout to something longer.

I read in one of your posts you were not going to get the S3... Changed your mind, is it?:D

The carriers make money off of the bloat and the phone manufacturers also get a piece of the pie so it's not going away. As for updates, it's up to the phone manufacturers to put them together and get them to the carriers for testing. Carriers will NEVER release an update until it's tested, no matter how much clout Samsung, or anyone else, has. They don't want complaints from their customers about the update not working.

It's going to be up to Samsung to get the updates into the hand of the carriers faster so that they can test it and roll it out. This is all in Samsung's hands.

Not necessarily so, at least not in Canada. I owned a HTC a couple of years ago and was desperately waiting for the release because it would have really helped with the functionality and use of the phone. It was the damn carrier that did not release it until 6+ months later. I contacted HTC and they said it was up to the Carriers to release the updates that they provided them with.

Yesterday I went to see the SGS3 and its really thin. I really like how these Android phone are way more thinner than the iPhones. Galaxy Nexus and HTC One X were also really thin. The phone wasnt as big as I thought.

Im thinking of selling my iPhone 4 to try the SGS3. I can get it for half the price with the money from the iPhone 4. Plus, if I dont like it I can get the iPhone 5 in fall or wait until the 5S.

Yes they are thin, but the overall hieght and width is alot.
for me atleast.

Like the Razr. It was a marketing gimmick. Sure it's thin, but they stretched it out and it's very wide and tall. It never fit right in my pocket.

These threads make my head hurt

The big screens take a while to get used to, but once you do, it's impossible to go back I find. Of course, the bigger issue (pun not intended) is the actual size of the phone... some people are just smaller and its tougher, but that's a subjective problem.

Do you buy a phone to drop it?

If you bang a Rolls Royce it to will have some damage.

I dont buy phones to drop them.

May be people who buy phone's like the SIII do buy them to drop them as they are so crap to hold in their hands... that they want minimum contact with the phone.:D

By your logic, do you buy a car to crash it?

Of course not, but guess what - accidents happen. That's why *gasp* they're called accidents!

Call the Samsung cheap all you want - but drop both and see which phone has problems after. The glass problem on the iPhone is well known

I'm just about to pull the trigger on the s3. I had iphones for the past couple of years, and think its time for a change. I may wait until the next iphone comes out to make a choice, but I've had my iphone 4 for almost two years. The 4s just wasnt worth an upgrade imo. Either way the s3 is a very nice phone. I've never thought about switching from the iphone untill now.

Don't forget you can always sell the S3 if you decide to down the line. The Samsung phones have all been reselling quite well last I saw (especially the GN), especially if you unlock yours (assuming you're using GSM)

eh?

I had the Gnex for 4 months and it fit just fine in my pocket with still a ton of room to spare(no i don't were baggy ass pants either!)

The S3 is pretty much the same size as the Gnex so there should be no issues in that department. The phone did not feel wide at all. Tall a little bit but the extra screen space was well worth it.

I will say it again...The main complaint with bigger screens is people cant reach things. Android, Apple and Microsoft all need to start putting all controls at the bottom of the screen, not the top on all these phones with larger screens and the problem would be solved 100%. I have no issues with the larger screens at all. The top left is the only hard part to reach, but again it is all worth it in the end.

I ordered the S3 as it pretty much solves all issues i had with the Gnex that i loved.

Problem is, that while they sell well, they also sell for cheap. Going rate on a used GN is about $250-300 CDN. The iP4 sells for more still.

Friend tonight told me that when he added his music from iTunes into DoubleTwist and then his SII, the album art was lost on most of his music when he played it on the DoubleTwist music player. That sucks.

Also, just out of curiosity, if I were not to use DoubleTwist and simply added my music files directly onto the SIII (via the SD card slot), would my music be neatly organized if I try out a series of Android music apps?

In the stock music player you can browse music by all, playlist, album, artist and mood. As long as your music has id3 tags the phone will do the rest.

Album Art Grabber is a free app in the play store.

I've only used iPhones for about 4 years now but am seriously considering switching to an s3. I have the iPhone 4 now and am eligible for an upgrade but don't want to get the 4S... I wish apple would come out with the new iPhone soon.... I want a bigger screen, faster processor, and LTE! I love my iPhone, but I've had it for almost 2 years now and I'm itching for something new!

I'm going to wait until after wwdc... If iOS 6 looks amazing than maybe I'll hold off a few months for iPhone 5... Otherwise I dunno,...
