I hope not. I have a DX and it's too big to pocket.
I'm glad there are some sensible people on here.
My work colleague has the Samsung Galaxy SII and he says its far to big for his pocket.

If the sgs2 is far too big for his pocket, the iPhone will likely also be too big, and I question the existence of said pockets. Its not much bigger than the iPhone at all.I'm glad there are some sensible people on here.

They're just guesses.
To everyone else:
Apple only has to increase the size of the iPhone by only a couple CM to fit a 4" screen perfectly on there. Increasing the resolution to 1440x960 would have a even higher PPI, thus keeping the "pixel-less" display.
Most people seem to disagree:

So many people complaining about their phones being too big in their pocket. I can understand if you're a woman, but if you're a guy get a holster. There's a reason most men wear belts.

I bet if the iPhone originally launched with a 4" screen back in '07, nobody would be saying, gee I wish it was smaller like 3.5" instead.
No way. Apple will just sell you a special jean pocket for $50. Sews onto your current pair of jeans and fits your iPhone 16 like a glove.
Can't use forum members as a proper poll selection.
Haha. Wearing you're phone on you belt is about as sad as it gets.
Sorry dude.
To date it's the best (and only) poll data we have. I get tired of people claiming people who want a 4" screen are a "vocal minority". This proves otherwise. Please point us to a better poll and we'll go with that.
Either way, if the iPhone becomes too big...I'll be looking elsewhere.
I'm hoping for a 5" screen, to go with "iPhone 5"
Okay maybe I don't have too much hope for that, but it'd make my dreams come true.
I would say that may be the reason why Apple has been so careful about its next iPhone this time around; and also the delay in releasing the iPhone. If Apple needs a separate event to reveal its new iPhone, then the new iPhone must have a pretty substantial upgrade, such as a 4" screen.
Chances of features:
8MP Camera: 100% (Apple known to increase camera MP every upgrade)
New Design: 50% (if 4" screen, then yes; maybe iPad 2 design.)
4" Screen: 65% (Resolution = Three Times 480x320 = 1440x960; Keeping Developers Happy; Resolution Independence.)
RAM Increase: 75% (1GB)
Dual Core Processor: 80% (1.2GHz - 1.4GHz)
If you wear chick pants.
