iPhone 5 = 4" screen?

If the sgs2 is far too big for his pocket, the iPhone will likely also be too big, and I question the existence of said pockets. Its not much bigger than the iPhone at all.

Apple only has to increase the size of the iPhone by only a couple CM to fit a 4" screen perfectly on there. Increasing the resolution to 1440x960 would have a even higher PPI, thus keeping the "pixel-less" display.

Oh god, resolution is not some fancy thing to change with every generation.
 
So many people complaining about their phones being too big in their pocket. I can understand if you're a woman, but if you're a guy get a holster. There's a reason most men wear belts.

Of course, 4.3" on those phones is huge, but don't compare that to the 4" people here are talking about. For that comparison, you need to check out the Samsung Fasinate. At 4", it's hardly larger than the iPhone, plus it has a rounded back so it's actually nicer to hold and pocket than the squarish iPhone 4. Give apple credit not to design a huge mammoth like some of those droid monsters.
 
I no longer care.

Apples procrastinated too long on this. It's a reflection of their insanely jealous ways, therefore I've already bought a few different Androids for fun.

Nothing like first hand experience to get the true impression of a product. My iP4 is the perfect music & multimedia player for my iTunes library.

Then there's my Samsung Galaxy S II, which is my best smartphone for calls, email, SMS, and Web Browsing.

With my iPhone 4 relegated to second & SGS II as my primary smartphone I'm set for some time to come.

While I'd like to think by iPhone 6, Apple will be back on track, I have no confidence I'm that scenario.

Best of all is I'm in great shape now and whatever Apple does or doesn't do no longer affects me.
 
I'm sure out of its millions of customers and billions of dollars in company worth, Apple is very upset that you left.

You might enjoy lugging around 2 devices, but most of us don't - the iPhone works for us. Sorry!

Totally agree, the idea that Apple picked the perfect screen size on the original iPhone is just ridiculous. Especially given what people are choosing to buy on competing platforms.

Going to save my money and not buy an iPocket or an iPhone 16. I am going to wait for Lion that comes with FaceTime, carry my 27" iMac around plug it in somewhere make a call and that's it, job done. Plus I will save money on Gymnasium fees! Sorry Guys I just had to add to the silliness of this thread. :eek:

To date it's the best (and only) poll data we have. I get tired of people claiming people who want a 4" screen are a "vocal minority". This proves otherwise. Please point us to a better poll and we'll go with that.

The 4" screen on my Motorola Atrix is a huge upgrade even with the slight decrease in resolution. 3.5" is outdated....


My needs may be different as I watch lots of videos and movies on my phone though. For web browsing it is not huge difference.

Oh goody!!!!!! You just confirmed my guess that I, as a recently divorced female, will never get a date because I like wearing my phone on my belt (over carrying a purse). Well, I dont wear a belt, just clip it to my pants.

Cool, I shall resign myself to single geeky life as of this moment!!

I don't need to point you to another poll to prove that this does not prove what the public wants. It only proves people that participate in this poll on this forum want it. And we all know that this forum is an extremely small slice of the buying public. That is a fact.

Also, nobody included the option of a screen in between that doesn't increase the chassis size.

I'll admit this...people are sheep and "bigger is always better" seems to be a driving mentality. Based on that I could be wrong. Either way, if the iPhone becomes too big...I'll be looking elsewhere.

Same here, but then i have to wonder, what do i need it to do that it isn't already? Does it make calls, actually show me my voice mail, keep my calendar, look up other stuff and play an occasional game? yup.... I could be good until I break it. I had my last phone almost 3 years I think (and it was an insurance replacement for the only phone I ever have destroyed since getting one in the mid-90's.)

Same for my iPad, right now there is nothing else i *need*, the first one gets it done.

But, I don't want a bigger phone - heck, last time i was going phone shopping i was trying to find one of those tiny pack of gum swivel things. Nice and tiny!

On another note, what if Apple is working on a refresh of the iPhone 4 with a bigger screen? Perhaps, instead of iPhone 5, it could be the iPhone 4S. (where S stands for "Screen" instead of "Speed" like in the iPhone 3GS...)
