I guess it's not really worth it, if one can't connect the serial number to the screen manufacturer.

But as sonic said, jail break and execute the right terminal command, and we might start to build some info. Not everyone wants to jail break, though.

I'm not going to jailbreak it, don't need it.
And I'm not sure the display manufacturer is reported in the software.

The first time I saw the issue was also on my day one iPhone 5, but it wasnt as bad as on my 2nd iPhone 5S. Actually I dont believe that there are generally some serial numbers the faulty ones, but i believe there is always some bunch of serial numbers affected since they were produced together. I also think that these phones which got produced together will go in a big box together and will be delivered to the same retail place together (for example in my local Apple Store all displayed slate and white 5S have an F2 serial number and all gold ones have DN, I dont think thats just coincidence). Therefore it is very possible that one store has 95% affected phones while another maybe has 0%.

I still believe that one of the three supplier makes inferior panels which cause the black lines etc. So in theory the chances to get a faulty panel is 1 to 3. The thing we dont know is if all three suppliers really produce ⅓ of the iphone displays. Therefore the affected phones could be more or less than ⅓.

And I still recommand, if you dont see any black lines during normal usage (or have anything else that bothers you about the display) then dont even try out the test image. This thread isnt about convincing people that their good phones are faulty. :) It's about helping people who see the issue and are looking for advice how to get a replacement that isnt affected.

I positive its LG. This same problem was seen on the Nexus 4

I was at the local Media Markt today and out of curiosity I tried the displayed iPhone 5S and the iPhone 5C. BOTH had the black lines which were visible immeditaly to the eye (I didn't even try the test image since I immediately saw the lines). I'm still couldn't find a perfect one displayed in a store...

Do you check when this picture is opened or while opening?
When I open this picture, the screen flickrs with pink green colors (just a visual effect), but its opened it looks fine. Then when I try to drag it left/right, the screen flickrs again. Should I be concerned and replace it?

Look at it when it's opened. If no flicker, your screen is fine.

THIS POST IS WHAT SOME OF YOU ARE DOING TO THE USERS OF THIS FORUM: searching for a non existent problem, and trying hard to find one and replace a perfectly working iPhone ....

As Mackan wrote, look at it when it's opened. You wrote that it doesn't flicker when it's opened, so your screen is fine. The faulty ones I saw flickered like hell when the test image was opened.

The pixel walk/inversion is a problem. Every iPhone 5s i have seen has this issue

Indeed it is .... for the 10 people in this thread. Other millions, several millions, are just enjoying their iPhone 5s without any walking pixel issue :D

Millions of users of the iPhone just don't care much about electronics. That's why they bought the most easy to use phone on the market. But therefore they also don't know how the retina display is supposed to look like, so they don't realize the issue.

The pixel walk/inversion is indeed a real problem which affects most iPhones 5S on the market so far.

It looks like it affects people who display this particular image. If you don't display it, it doesn't affect you. So it's up to you. Do you have problems with any real world images?

Very interesting theory. All the world is full of ignorance, and only a bunch of "illuminated" could see such a big issue.
So they can realize an issue that only you (and a few others here) could see ...

Very credible theory indeed.

Don't you see ? There are a lot of walking pixel on your screen !
They are all defective !
It should be a Samsung conspiracy ...
They pixel are walking all around , like zombies in an horror film :D

Yes I see it with every real world image. Just looking at the mail symbol for example and there are the black lines all over it. Actually I first saw the issue and then found the test image not the other way around.

Also the test image is just a stress test for the display which the faulty ones dont pass and therefore show a wild flicker. The real issue are the thin black lines.

Lol, black lines on the Mail symbol .... This thread is amazing :D
The notorious "Dead walking pixels" ....

I'd like to see the poor Apple Genius while you are showing it all the black lines on your and all the displayed iPhones in his store .... poor guy :D

BTW I'm very lucky because there is nothing walking on my iPhone 5S. I must be the only one with a good screen. How lucky I am.

And again there goes the trolling around... *yawn*

Fact is, the genius saw the issue, that's why he wrote two times "observed the issue". I once had a battery issue which I couldnt reproduce within the 10 minutes at the genius bar, thats why this genius wrote "couldnt observe/reproduce the issue". But he still swaped the iPhone because he believed my word. If a genius writes on the paper that he observed the issue, it's because he actually saw the issue.
