A reset of the network settings on the iPhone should work.
I no longer have problems with connecting..
I went to the AT&T Micro Cell management page (https://www.att.com/3gmicrocell/unauth/login.do?target=FOAMM) and disconnected my Micro Cell. Once it was disconnected, I logged out of the management page and re-logged back in, but this time it took me to an activation screen. I then went through the steps of entering my Micro Cell serial and other misc. info, and activated. The whole process took about 15-20 minutes. Once the Signal symbol was solid and the status page said the Micro Cell was successfully reactivated, I powered on my iPhone 5 and it now gets the Micro Cell notification at the top. That seemed to have done the trick!

I live in the North East USA, and can verify that I did have problems this morning. But now I'm good (see above)
FINALLY!
I think they're pushing out a fix because more people are having luck (myself now included).
I unplugged the MCell for 1 minute or so. Turned on Airplane mode during this time.
Turned the MCell back on. Waited until it was fully up and running. Turned off Airplane mode. At first, no luck. Waited ~2 minutes and BAM.. MCell on iPhone5.
Good luck!
Just got off the phone with At&t tech support for 3G microcell, according to this guy the entire system crashed with all of the Iphone 5 registrations. They will be updating registrations throughout the night and should be able to connect shortly. He also said there is no incompatibility or problem with IPhone 5 or the microcell. No need to reboot or re register, also has nothing to do with the new sim cards.
My microcell & iPhone 5 are now playing together.
I did not:
- tinker with the sim card
- modify the network settings on my iPhone 5
- login to the microcell administration settings online to re-register the device or remove my phone number from the list of approved numbers
Here's what worked for me.
- I unplugged my Microcell & powered it back on after 5 seconds
- I waited a few minutes for the Microcell to re-boot & confirmed that all of the status lights were back up entirely
- I powered down my iPhone 5
- I waited a few minutes & turned my iPhone 5 back on.
- After my iPhone 5 re-started it did not recognize the Microcell right away but after around 5 minutes it showed M-Cell.
My advice is to follow these steps & be patient. My next mission is to figure out the best shared data plan for my family which includes a 7-year old who won't ride in the car for 2 blocks without wanting to connect to Netflix.![]()
Rebooted. Placed iPhone in airplane mode. Waited for Microcell to come back up. Turned off airplane mode. No change.
Tried de-registering with AT&T, but that didn't work either.

Same as the post above. Finally got the Microcell to deactivate, reactivated it, got the email and my phone is now showing Microcell connectivity.
Finally got the Microcell to deactivate and then re-activated and waited about an hour for the text to confirm.
Performed hard reset on iPhone 5 and........ FINALLY see the M-Cell.
Thanks!
There are several people who have tried that and it doesn't work. Please read the thread before responding. It is a known issue with AT&T. They claim they are working on a fix, but we'll see...
Worked for me.
Thanks for your advice. Now move along.
Not working for me either. Hoping it's an AT&T issue that will be resolved soon.
