AC+ Accidental is two years

Not all CCs offer this. AC+ extends this coverage for an extra year.

So is your Amex card. Don't pay your balance and full each month, and that interest rate will be "pure profit" for them.

Because $150 is cheaper, and you get another replacement for $50 more instead of another $229.

AC+ provides more coverage than your "free" AMEX protection plan. And it's not really free, your paying for it via annual fees, interest rates, minimal balance requirements.

No Thank you. I like to pay for my items via Check Card or Cash.

I don't see why you can't get a card with these extra perks, and pay it off in full. It doesn't seem like paying it off would be an issue, so why not enjoy the extra warranty you'd get for using a CC?

By the way, The Amex Blue card has no annual fee, and this is a credit card-- there are no balance requirements because this is all credit. It's extremely risky to use your check card these days. I used my check card to purchase some cables online, and the website I used was hacked. I noticed a $500 charge in my account and immediately called the bank. Had I used a credit card, I wouldn't be down 500 dollars and instead $500 down in credit while I file a chargeback/fraud. Luckily I was able to get a hold of the company before they shipped the product to the hacker and get my money back.

Credit cards have their benefits. If you have the balance to pay them off in full, why not take advantage of their perks?

Amex makes most of its money from merchant fees, not from interest. My UK Amex Gold card saved me an absolute fortune couple years back on an iPhone I dropped literally as I worked home with it after buying it.

It's a personal preference, there is no right answer to this. I'm not going to argue with you the pros and cons of credit cards and cash.

To some people, the benefit of paying something with cash and not having to worry about paying it off later, out weighs the perks. And remember you have to spend money to get most of the perks with credit cards. Money you probably normally wouldn't spend otherwise.

There is a risk with any methods of payment you use; cash, check cards or credit cards. Again it's how YOU want to spend your money. It's your choice.

I just wanted to clear some of your false arguments over credit cards, as they're not as bad as your statements made them sound. Of course you'd have to use the card to get the perks-- how else would a credit company work?

I guess I am trying to understand your reasoning behind it, as you seem to have enough money to pay off your balance in full. Essentially you're losing out on the benefits because you'd rather not pay another bill? I understand it's your personal preference, but there must be a reasoning behind it.

Why use your debit card?

I've used credit cards since I was a freshman in college. Never paid a single dime in finance charges.

If you are using your debit card like cash. You might as well rack up points/rewards with credit
Cards and pay the full balance every month.

I pay my credit card 3-4 times each months. I treat each transaction on my credit card like a cash payment.

There are no annual fees with most credit cards. Extended warranty is free.

So not sure what your fear of credit cards is. Debit cards are far more dangerous than credit cards. I actually tell the banks just to send me am ATM card. I refuse to use debit cards. Why?

A thief can deplete ur bank account quickly. Guess what? It's going to take the banks a few days to reverse the missing charges. My friend had his debit card compromised on a trip. He is in city 1000 miles from home with no access to cash while the bank figure out who stole $3000 from his check card.

Also remember the one thing AppleCare Plus does not cover. Stolen iPhone. Remember that. If AppleCare plus covered stolen phones with even a $200 deductible for stolen iPhones.

Than it may be worth it.

But for probably 80-90% of us, it's not worth it.

I'm not against CC's. I was just pointing out how AMEX's accidental protection and warranty is inferior to AC+ that's it. I'm not sure how this spun out into Credit Cards vs Debit Card debate.

Yes, I have a Credit Card. I do use it. I use it along with other forms of payment (Check/Debit Card and Cash). Does it really bother you that much that I use my Debit card or Cash instead of my CC? I'm not trying to turn this into a debate about Credit Cards and using them. I was just pointing out how AC+ is a better alternative to AMEX's accidental/warranty coverage.

Slid out of my hand getting out of the car...smacked on the concrete. I'm usually very careful..first time I ever busted a phone like that. iPhone is pretty fragile.

And its designed that way. Otherwise there'd be no aftermarket.

Folks sure are quick to suggest committing fraud.

Its only fraud if Apple Asks and you lie. If they dont ask, then its not important to them.

Credit cards are plenty dangerous and very often compromised. I work in the fraud dept of a very large company that provides credit card accounts as well as bank accounts. The CC fraud dept is canceling and replacing compromised CC cards all day long.
