I really hope so, especially since the replacement status is already being prepared for shipment.

Yup, she definitely is wrong. It wouldn't have gotten to "preparing for shipment" if there was a hold on your account. The 'hold' would be for the scan of the return package. Then they would lift the hold and the product would go "preparing for shipment." You're past that step so I'm sure your good. I went through the same process.

Awesome! That definitely makes things much easier on me! Thanks for the help and info, Hopsdaballa04!

My wife has a 4S and it is much easier to pick up off a flat surface than my iPhone 5. I've placed the phones down on the table and picked each one up. I think it's because the antenna band on the 4S sticks out a little bit from the side and it makes it easier to grasp with your fingers, being a little thicker helps too.

I grab both with my fingertips so makes no difference to me. Jobs most certainly saw the iPhone 5 (at least the prototype) before he passed away.

The Worst thing about iPhone 5 is that it is so thin you almost ALWAYS have to slide and pick up, its very hard to pick it up straight!

Why oh why did the rep tell me I had to find a backup phone to use?! The iPhone is still under warranty...why didn't she tell me about ERS?!

Yet at the same time, I just received an email saying my iPhone replacement will be shipped in 3-5 days and I have yet to return my iPhone.

I'm so confused.

I'm hoping she is wrong and I get the replacement before I have to send out the original phone. Sigh.

Call them now that's what I did they will cancel the normal replacement ( You will still get the box just ignore it!! )

You said directly after your asinine statement 'some people will post anything to get others riled up'. What that means MENSA, is you are inferring he is lying for the sake of angering people. This is not simply giving an 'opposing view'. You view the world your way and lack empathy. You are not alone. Plenty of people don't possess the ability to recognize others perspectives and in turn assume their viewpoint is the only possibility. Work on it.

Okay so you win? I guess you need to win and argument so their you go you win. I just expressed my experience with microfibers not flaking anything off my phone, sorry that goes against what others have said...sheesh, get more worked up of some random forum posts why don't you, go smoke a joint and work it out, deep breathes too!;)

Mine is fine here.

So here is my scuff story...

Preorder at 6 am launch day and am one of the unlucky OCT 5th delivery time people, but actually end up getting ti yesterday at the end of the day. I open it up and sure enough there is an extremely tiny knick on the read bottom edge of the metal edge.

Call apple and they set up a time for me to go to my nearest store for an exchange. I then call that very store to confirm they have my model in stock and told them I had an appointment the next day, they put the phone on hold for me.

I get there and they look at me kind of funny when i tell them my problem and then tell me they don't have any in stock. I then tell them that someone shoudl have reserved one for me and then they go back to find it.

He brings one out and opens it and this one is even worse. No scratches, but a very large "splotch" where is seems the black coloring didn't take to the metal band.

Apple employee goes to ask manager if he can open one more box and they say yes.

Box opened and sure enough this one has a knick about the same size on the top of the metal band.

He then tells me thats all the boxes he's allowed to open.

No point in taking a phone thats just as scratched as what I've got so I leave and call apple care on the way out.

After being on the phone for about 50 minutes (most of which were on hold while i was switched between senior people and sales/technical support) They finally told me that they could send me a phone and when i got the new one I could return the damaged one.

Over all a pretty big hassle for a minor scratch but why should I settle for a damaged new phone?

My phone is nicked up too, i have a case #, i am waiting to swap/exchange for a 16gb model, going down from my 32gb, don't need the space. should i wait until october for a new batch or try to do it now? Also is it possible to do this by calling apple instead of going to the store? Or would the price difference cause an issue?

----------

Mine has started to do this around the speaker holes also.

Lets see some pictures so we know what it looks like if possible....

Just out of a branch in the UK after swapping my 34 week 16GB black. The genius told me that they are seeing quite a few back and that the retail boxed replacement was from a newer batch.
Tried the serial number and ii is a week 34 also and it has light bleed in the top left corner and 3 stuck pixels.
Screw this, I'm getting a refund and going elsewhere, the apple of old just isn't there anymore!

Oh really, he was overly critical of the design of the heart monitor or something on his finger as well as the masks they tried to put on him, if you'll read the biography.

I've read it. But the guy was dying ffs. I doubt he would even care if the i5 would've been pink.

So far this is what we have / add to the list! we need Week/ Colour/ Factory location. Go here and put your serial number in

Flawless.

Week 32 factory C3 (Black )

Week 32 Factory C3 (White)

Week 33 Factory C3 (White)

Week 33 Factory C3 (White)

Week 37, Factory F2 (Black)

My phone is a black week 37 F2 but it is damaged. I have some white scratches on the antenna and a nick on the top of the phone.

So here's a picture of what I thought was my "flawless" phone. This is my second phone, by the way.

It's an improvement over my original for sure.

Not sure if I should try to exchange one more time or go white.

I have a week 37 F2 black phone that is a has a few nicks around the antenna, as well as some white scratches that were all there out of the box. I've also noticed that the standby and volume buttons are pretty wobbly, especially compared to my iPhone 4. Is that the case for anyone else?

so i went down to the apple store to replace (ive had the phone for 24 hours) and they said they could NOT do it! they said i can only do a return/exchange and since they have no stock im SOL...what do i do now?? should i just call apple care and discuss this with them?

Another area to look out for is significant contrasting colours of the sim card tray and bezel.

I compared my 1st and 2nd handset and the 1st had a complete mis-match of colors. The tray can be significantly darker than the bezel or vice-versa.
