I just figure in 2 weeks they will have some in the store and I go in there and do an exchange. I would rather have the option of checking out a few different phones than to just have Apple send them to me 1 at a time. Also it seems like the white box iPhones have more damage than the Retail ones.

In two weeks they will assume you created the damage and tell you to pack lead.

I'm pretty sure they can look at my account and see that I had a genius appointment the Sunday after it came out about the issue or they can probably see that I called Apple Care and had a replacement sent out for the issue. I also have pictures I can show them so I think I'm good on that note. The Genius told me they would do a retail exchange and that I needed to call back to see if they get some more in. They can't blame me because it took a while for them to get some in stock.

Wish in one hand and crap in the other and see which fills up faster.

The thing I found to be really strange was that the replacement apple sent me had a lighter color on the SIM card tray than the rest of the bezel. Not sure how common that is.

This is an example of how poor the anodizing quality is. The SIM trays are anodized separately from the phone.

Mine is lighter than the rest but not as light as yours! on mine it's hardly noticeable.

That was the first thing I noticed when I opened the replacement. I almost thought it was a sim card tray for the white model. If the replacement would have been decent I would have just switched the tray with the one from my original 5 but unfortunately there were at least 3 nicks and one scratch around bezel.

So I got a perfect phone today. The jest replacement was worse than my old one but the second one came out perfect. Just put sgp screen protector on it. Waiting for case. Serial number starts with f2 production week 38

I apologise sincerely to the guy who had the random screen scratches.

Whilst mine is nowhere near as serious, it has similarly only ever been in my pocket (I've only wore jogging pants since I got it, not the same pair everyday ofc :p).

Basically, a piece of cotton lint has somehow made a jagged 1cm scratch down the front of my phone's screen.

Apple clearly are not using Gorilla Glass on this thing. Whatever it is, its actually WORSE than last years.

The IP4/4S wasnt immune to screen scratches by any means, but they were pretty much only limited to hairlines visible under bright direct light, unless you really abused it.

My 3rd replacement is arriving tomorrow. Its safe to say that I'm not looking forward to it, especially after finding out my 6th rMBP has really bad image retention issues with the screen.

I think I'll pick up a 64GB 4S off eBay for half the price of a 5. Or I could get an S3 for a similar price. Either way, I'm becoming extremely tired of Tim Cook's pathetic leadership of Apple. MONEY MONEY MONEY. Screw the consumers.

Second replacement. Worst of the bunch. I think I'm giving up...

i've been android for 2 years. I'm about 99% sure i'm swapping to the I5. I really wanted the black one but man I've been reading through this thread for the last few days and it sounds like i should get the white one. This sux. Say what you want about plastic phones, but they don't have issues like scratches at launch.

Set my 4S back up. I'll try this again in a couple two or three months. I'm only gonna be eligible for early upgrade pricing on AT&T (cost of the phone + $250), so whatever.

I know it isn't a scuff but I just got my AT&T preordered phone and after 48 hours I have a stuck pixel. Bright green dot lower right when on dark colors, and darkish red when on light colors..

Do I take it to the Apple store or do I have to go through AT&T? I figured I's seek help here instead of starting a new thread...

Getting worse replacements sucks! I went through two and unfortunately I'm giving up :(
Sending mine back for refund, been with iPhone since 2007 :(

My situation 64 gig black.

Phone 1 - big ding out of the trim ring. Actual metal missing.

Phone 2 - didn't take from the Genius, had chunk missing from the glass screen. He was surprised by that one.

Phone 3 - I took as replacement, has tiny line on screen annoying.

Phone 4 - mailed from apple, keeping but has two tiny specs where the coating came off the trim ring showing silver underneath.

Overall having owned every version of the iPhone this is disappointing.

Well scratch that. The last phone has a stuck pixel. I will be keeping phone three Apple wins.
