look how long it took apple to switch the material that they use on the back of the iPods... those scratched incredibly easily too. nothing ever happened with that in years. I seriously doubt apple will do anything about this if it is indeed a issue unless it directly affected the phones use (like anntenagate)

The resale value for a mint black iPhone 5 will be ridiculous next year if that black slate wears off easily.

She goes in and bashes other threads about "pics or it didn't happen", yet she has no problem making a thread on a topic that has 10-15+ already...

Yes, and Yes. :D

KPOM, look up "mocking" and get back to me. ;) Have a good morning.

You should use the emoticons, then. It isn't always easy to tell sarcasm in written posts, particularly since there are several threads on this. :)

Lol..how about giving it more then an hour before u claim there is a widespread problem.
How can people deny that it's a widespread problem when there already are so many pictures surfacing? Some people here live in denial. Not all that many have even received the phone yet... If a shop in Germany unpacked 30 iPhone 5's and all had defects, don't you think that there's a widespread problem going on? And add to that all the pictures that are being uploaded all the time now on these forums.

Doed anyone now if the full body iphone 5 clearskins of bodyguardz will cover the chamfer as wel?

It would probably difficult or impossible to cover the chamfer with a skin. You'd need a hard shell snap-on case. I was concerned about this from day one actually... when they announced it. But I don't like the look of the white face, so I went with black. I wish there was a black and silver option actually, that would be ideal. But white antenna windows and a black face might look odd. Anyway, I'm thinking about ordering a white one now and just waiting 4 weeks and returning my black one un-opened with it arrives today. Especially since people are seeing scuffs right out of the box. I'm careful with my phone and never put it in a pocket with keys or coins, but if we're seeing scuffs right out of the box... that doesn't sound good. I don't want to use a case. A skin maybe but that's it. And again, I can't see a skin covering the chamfer.

If the anodization is the same as the black iPods (shuffle, nano, classic) then it should be fine I think.

The main body should be fine. The issue is the chamfer. That makes sense. It's highly polished and has a sharp edge. It's hard for any kind of surface treatment (anodized or otherwise) to "stick" to that. The only solution would have been to soften the edges of the chamfer and do the bead blasting AFTER the chamfer... so the chamfer would have a texture as well. The best solution would have been a coloured alloy... so the metal would have been black all the way through (if that's even possible... probably not).

----------

Anyone experienced chipping or scuffing with the white?

The white doesn't have and colour added. It's not anodized. It's just raw aluminum. So there is no colour to be scuffed off. Yes it will get scratched and scuffed of course, but since the whole case is raw aluminum with no colour it won't be noticeable at all.

You're not understanding guys. Jessica(period) is the POLICE of Macrumors and sheriff of the internets. My first encounter with Jessica(period) was when I told a guy he should break up with his gf for getting him an engraved ipad (or something like that) I don't even really remember. I was very very obviously kidding but the policing process was already in motion.

Jessica(period), don't you think your time would be better served screening threads for the misuse of "you're" and "your"? Or "too" and "to"?
