Don't get your hopes up too high, it could just be an iPhone 4S.
Other than NFC, what else could you want in a phone. NFC hasn't really proved itself useful just yet either. Lets see the bucket list of what the major complaints were:
-We got the front facing camera.
-We got a better rear camera that made it unnecessary for most to carry a Flip Video/Digital Point and shoot.
-We got multitasking, which you didn't even need an iP4 for, as the 3GS even got the software update for this.
Everything else pretty much can be solved with an app, or an iOS update.
I expect the next update to be evolutionary, not revolutionary.
What about a bigger screen? 3.7" or even 4" would be nice.
What about a better notification system? Android already has a really powerful one.
What about lockscreen apps?
Those are the few most popular demands for the next iPhone. Could the notification system be solved by an iOS upgrade? Possibly. But Apple won't settle to that, they will make everyone buy the latest model by leaving out some features in the older models.
I can't imagine Apple releasing a full new CDMA model in June, essentially screwing the customers who got an iPhone 4; Apple seems like they'd do better than that. But, they're a business.
Yup, and they can't upset all the people holding out till then. Either way they are gonna upset people, but one way makes them lots of money and one doesn't.
Just as F123D stated, Apple doesn't care about a minority of people who will have issues upgrading.
The iPhone goes global, and so people need to realize that the iPhone's market is more than just America.
I'm sure the iPhone has been released mid cycle in numerous countries around the world.
Heck, the iPad just launched in India. Imagine if people said "there won't be an iPad 2 because the iPad just came out in India!" Exactly.
The iPhone 5 will come out this summer.
Who knows? Maybe Verizon will change their pricing plan for their customers to buy the next iPhone.
If you're smart, you'll wait for the iPhone 5.
If you have the money and don't care, go for the iPhone 4.
