This is the latest mockup. Trying to keep the thread up-to-date.

I would pay $1000 for that thing. It does look wide though, but I get the concept.

^ Yes, that be the concept. Key word being concept. It's just supposed to give you an idea.

I actually started from an iPhone, not an iPad. The screen dimensions are the same as the current iPhone.

Can you prove it with any previous iterations of your mock up, or source images? I can't believe it until I see it, considering I have an iPhone sitting in front of me and the dimensions do not match.

Or you could just believe him. Seriously, what would be his motivation for lying?

Notifications?

Yes, a (slightly!) larger phone, no home button (possibly a dedicated camera button?). But the major current omission is a lock-screen notification system that handles multiple messages.

I love this concept but I really don't want them to rid the phone of the physical home button.

Here you go.

jesus christ you people need to learn to accept change... i think its awesome and would totally prefer that to my iphone 4. props to you for mocking it up

I like the simplicity and i think it's in Apple's nature to go as simple as possible.

But the problem is functionality. I think your example would be bad for gaming because you can't hold onto much on the sides.

But for a smaller nano it would be great.

That said, I do hope Apple gets rid of the home button soon and replaces it with more screenspace or some placeholder sensitive touch area that can be programmed as virtual buttons for games.

I am glad that none of you all are designing the next iphone, thank god. If I see that kind of iphone from apple, I am selling my shares and moving on to Android.

All I did was make it thinner and even off the bezel (which I think will happen eventually). I'm not really trying to make a new design, just kind of trying to see where Apply might go with it next.

In the developer seed of ios 4.3 there is are new gestures that get rid of the need for a home button. There could be no home button in the future but I honestly will tell you that I would not be surprised if I saw the 3G-3GS thing again...
