LED and Front flash are the only 2 things I don't think will happen otherwise good job. I like the look.

a notification LED is likely i think, since iOS 5 allows the flash on the back to be used as such...so they're thinking about the concept of one at least

A few things to note:

- The home button is still pushable, just like it is now, the only difference is, its touch sensitive, and would probably be very accurate if made by apple. (say if you swipe up, but are still holding the button, it wont activate anything until its let go)

- The dimensions are exactly the same as the iPhone 4, the only difference is theres an ever so slight width adjustment (probably about 2-4mm), which you cannot possibly notice.. The reason it looks wider is because of the shortened top and bottom bezel due to the increased screen size.

Thanks for all the compliments guys :)

I got sick of seeing all these crappy mockups of there being absolutely no bezel on the left and right.. and for some reason MR seems to favour them.... -_-

I am. I don't like this.

if it just gets a tad wider, it will be along the lines of the 3G/3GS, as the iPhone 4 is a bit narrower than them. Did you mind the width of those phones?

I like it.

2 things;

I don't like a touch home button, for me a physical button is much better.
I also don't need a notification light. My light would basically always be on, and that would be annoying. I always have a VM, text or email.

I like the screen, especially since the phone didn't gain any height and only marginal width. I would want to carry the monster phones currently on the market.

Edit

Oddly enough, I like the front LED. I would actually have an active use for it.

well aren't you just popular hahah. But actually, you could turn off the notification LED most likely, and if they did one, it would probably do double duty as the notification LED and front camera illuminator (think along the lines of the green light that turns on along with a macbook pro camera), so even with notifications disabled for it you'd still have use for it.

Nice work! Not quite a 4" screen though (if the outer dimensions are the same):

(I'm working on a CAD model from Apples engineering drawing for case manufacturers.)

My mockup is just ever so slightly wider to make up for this fact. Your right though.

Do me a favour and cook up my model in cad? :D

A notification LED is a must have on a smartphone today. They come in so handy, just nice to have on a phone.

When my EVO-3D is sitting on my office desk, with sound on mute, I rather just glance at it, if the LED notification is blinking for a missed call, text, or e-mail, as opposed to picking it up and turning it on.

BTW Guys I tried to make a 3D version using an already taken iPhone 4 shot.

Ignore the amateur bits lol xD

Beautiful other than the color of the LED notifications light. if it was a different color I think it would look better.

Thats what I thought at first, but orange is basically the best choice. Blue, green or red is just too "dark" and "blending" (even if lighter variants are used, they tend to simply blend into the environment - to me atleast).. Orange stands to stick out in all circumstances. This is why I chose Orange.

Now that you bring it up, I think the LED could use a bit more of a glow.. But im not gonna mess with it anymore lol

This is SICK. :)

Thanks!

What would you like the back of the phone to be made of??

Matte aluminum

Aluminum

or Glass?

And which colour?

Actually im gonna start a new thread based on this question, with possibly a poll, if im privileged

Stronger glass or aluminum for sure. I would really like a white metal back.

Here's a quick mockup for size. iPhone 5 - 4" on the left, iPhone 4 on the right. Both the same height. I'll work in more detail as I go.

Your point actually has a lot to do with light Physics. Blue, Red and Green are the Primary colors of visible light, so to the human eye generally blends those colors into whatever is around them unless the surrounding environment directly contrasts that of the light source.

Nice mockups, but you both have the app drawer opened ? Your just showing a screen full of app icons  I sure hope the iPhone5 comes into the 21st century, and shows widgets, and news tickers, and weather, and all sort of customizations. Why would I want to just see my app drawer opened up as a home screen ?

Also I am a fan of the dedicated camera button idea. I miss this about my blackberry.

And I always thought it would be sweet if they combined the notification LED with the home button. A home button that could light up a few programable colors when you have a missed text or call. That would be rad.

I like that home button idea! Instead of having a notification LED, it'd be awesome and very unique if the home button would flash white or something every 10-60 seconds (depending on user setting), or if it had some sort of invisible ring around the home button that would turn a bright white color or some other color when you get a notification, like how the T-Mobile G2's optical button has a square ring around the optical button that flashes white when you get a notification.

By invisible ring, I mean that it'd be invisible when it wasn't flashing.

Here's a video showing the G2's optical button flashing when it has a notification: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EpMdn8ZzmJc

The mockup is for the iPhone 5, not iOS 5. The OP did not state that he was making a mockup for iOS 5 at all.

iOS5 has already been revealed and didn't show widgets, news tickers, or weather. Why are you expecting that the phone would have it?

Heres a Google Sketchup model...

Things to note:
- This is my first time using Sketchup, so i havent quite figured out the texturing.
- Phones missing headphone jack, SIM, logo and a few minor things
- This is basically a mock up of my mock up.. lol. Ill work on an exact version when I have time
